They call her a country singer, but you hear elements of the blues, and jazz in her performances...the arrangement of this song 6/8 blues style is evident here...she said didn't want to sing ballads but her producer made her do it....made her a giant star...her songs often crossed over into pop charts. There is a good movie about her life made in 1985 called Sweet Dreams, starring Jessica Lange and Ed Harris. Crazy was written by a then barley known sing writer called Willie Nelson...he became a big star to everyone, not just country fans and went on tour last year at the age of 90!! I'm not much of a country music fan, but to me Willie IS country music and so many other things.
Another voice of near perfection, no auto tune, no gimmicks, pure raw talent. She has many hits and it is so sad we lost her so young as I'm sure there would have been many more.
This is one of the best country voices around. Patsy had so many great hits such as "She's Got You", "Walkin' After Midnight", "Sweet Dreams", "So Wrong", "Leavin' on Your Mind", "I Fall To Pieces" "San Antonio Rose", "Blue Moon Of Kentucky", "Half As Much", "He Called Me Baby", "Faded Love" etc. She was only 31 when she died in a plane crash in 1963. In 1985 Jessica Lange starred in the movie about Patsy's life called "Sweet Dreams". "Home Free" does a great cover of "Crazy".
You have to appreciate the beautiful piano of Mr. Floyd Cramer in the background. He played on so many hits of this era and even played for Elvis. He also had an incredible hit with Last Date.
Willie not only wrote this masterpiece but also Walkin' After Midnight and Ain't It Funny in that same week. Those three songs are a songwriter's career and he did them in the same week
This is a classic song by Patsy, and what is really crazy is the self-blaming. Believing that you either did or didn't do something to cause another person to leave the relationship. As long as people are on this planet, many relationships will end in heartache. Patsy's voice is from the heart. The lyrics and sentiment of the song speak to those who have been at that place......
I was introduced to patsy cline when I was 15 years old by a classmate In high school. Mind you this was the early 1980’s. I was floored by her voice. I was hooked. I always loved r&b music from the 1950’s , 1960’s and 1970’s and didn’t particularly care for country but i didn’t consider her to be country. Her voice crossed all genres.
No baby, shes feelin crazy because she new frim the giddy up that hed be there only as long as he wanted and then leave. She doesnt feel betrayed, she always new he'd leave her for somebody new.
This song was written by Willie Nelson when he was a starving artist. Patsy had a huge hit with it, and the rest is history! You would enjoy the Home Free cover as well! Austin sings the lead in the same key as Patsy did. It's not better, but it's as good in a different way. Dive down the Home Free rabbit hole! Every song they touch is gold!
Patsy had one of the best voices in history -- and she had terrible luck. She was badly injured in a car accident, only to be killed in a plane crash a few years later. PC RIP.
Patsy could sing the phone book! I grew up in the 50’s and 60’s! Best music ever! R&B, Rock and Roll, classical, blues……and all the great new singers learning from the great singers and musicians of the 30’s and 40’s! No auto tune either 😎
Great reaction. It was said that this was the number one song played in saloons around the world. I don’t know how they would know such a thing but, it certainly seems right. Next stop on the Patsy Cline journey for me would be “She’s Got You”
This song as most of hers was recorded at Bradley Studios with the "A" team of musicians backing along with the famous Jordanaires that also backed Elvis Presley!! I was 4 years old when I first heard this song on the car radio, I still listen to it today June 1st 2024, it will never get old!!
If her voice hits you like this, I would highly suggest Linda Ronstandt. Patsy has a powerful voice and is amazing, but Linda is in an entirely different world with her voice.
Willie Nelson wrote this song, with contributions from her husband, who played piano. She didn't like Willie (not a star at this point), but was persuaded by her husband (and manager) to record it. Her interpretation of this song is priceless.
Ah, the "countrypolitan" version of this hit. Patsy Cline was a pioneer in country music. "Walking' after Midnight" is another classic, and has a bluesy feel to it that was a bit different for the times it was recorded in. BTW, I see you're taking notes on the song. I like that.
It's interesting that she is singing about something Willie Nelson went through as he wrote it. She made it hers though and, as you say, everyone can relate to it.
KD Lang Candian singer was inspired by Patsy Cline and covered some of her song Three cigarettes in an ashtray is one She also has done work with a lot of famous people Elton John Tony Bennet Roy Orbison she covered Hallelujah and Neil young's Helpless at the Canadian Juno's but I like her Hallelujah at the 2010 Olympics
Don't analyse the lyrics too deeply...just .enjoy the artistry... this is the 50s when this song was written, released,, when people back then sang about hurt , pain, they just sang and felt it which is why music from that age is so beautiful and not tied up so much in pyscho-analysis and bs as it is these days
Patsy, taken away, way to soon. Wonderful singer, on that note , Tom Jones ( I'll never fall in love again ) is another song that is about a lover leaving. Now Tom is a crooner along with every other stile of singer. But that song was was recorded in 1967 ,absolutely an amazing voice.
For me these are two of the most beautiful women's voices I have ever heard. This duet is awesome...if you haven't heard it yet, have fun! Greetings from Germany Barbra Streisand / Donna Summer - No More Tears (Enough is Enough) (Extended Version) th-cam.com/video/QsY066wa08E/w-d-xo.html
With respect, I don't think that's the main thing she's saying (that she feels crazy because she's lost her love). I think what she's saying is she's crazy for having gotten involved with him in the first place when she knew exactly who and what he was, and she knew how it would end...and went ahead and got involved with him anyway. And now that what she knew all along would happen if she allowed herself to get involved with him, she feels crazy as well because even now that he did to her exactly what she knew he'd do-- dump her when he got bored and went on to the next woman-- she can't stop loving him, and (she implies), how crazy is that?
lol, U must be a phycologist. More interested in dissecting words than being impressed by this incredible voice and one of the great songs all time. Women sing this song at karaoke bars everywhere 🤦♂️
Do yourself a favor and checkout Home Free’s version of this song! Austin sings it n the same key as Patsy! Why? Because he can!! The guys will blow you away! Please react to it! Thanks!

Ever. IMO. Ever. And at 30, her voice was still developing and getting stronger and experienced all the time. Such a huge huge loss when she passed.
Every song Patsy did was a winner
If you haven't seen it, watch the 1985 movie ,about her life.
You have to appreciate the beautiful piano of Mr. Floyd Cramer in the background. He played on so many hits of this era and even played for Elvis. He also had an incredible hit with Last Date.
Didn't know that!
Floyd Cramer was my dad's favorite musician. Floyd was an original session musician in RCA's studio B in Nashville with Owen Bradley and Chet Atkins.
Willie's song and Patsy's voice = perfection.
Old school the best school 😅😅😅
Written by Willie Nelson. the voice of an angel that was taken way too soon.
Written by him around 1958, something like that. He started out as a songwriter.
Patsy didn't like Willie Nelson too much. He had to sit in the car when they promoted the song to her..
Gone 2 soon
Willie not only wrote this masterpiece but also Walkin' After Midnight and Ain't It Funny in that same week. Those three songs are a songwriter's career and he did them in the same week
A song from when radio played all types of good music. Patsy was among the best, regardless of genre. Absolutely incredible voice.
one of the best female voice's ever. Then and now. Her cry-breaks are just outrageous ! Thank you Patsy.
she died way too young. RIP !

Willie Nelson wrote this in 1961 along with "Hello Walls" and "Ain't it funny how time slips away" on a weekend gig trip to Denver.

Hi Ms. Ashley, Ms. Patsy has a one of a kind Great, Great voice.. She died in a 1963 plane crash at 30 years of age.. R.I.P. Ms. Patsy ♠Mr.G..
Willie Nelson wrote the song. Patsy Cline gave it heartfelt depth
I heard Walkin After Midnight when I was really small and never forgotten her beautiful voice.
One of the greatest vocal performances of all time.
The songwriting, the singing, the band, the arranging. All stellar.
No baby, shes feelin crazy because she new frim the giddy up that hed be there only as long as he wanted and then leave. She doesnt feel betrayed, she always new he'd leave her for somebody new.
Now this is country!!!
One of the greatest voices, ever

It's her voice for everybody with ears!

1 take. She recorded this in 1 take. Let that sink in! Pure talent
Miss Patsy was peerless... and still is.
"Crazy" by Patsy Cline is my mom's favorite song.
I've got to admit that I actually sat there and listened when she would put on that album.
If her voice hits you like this, I would highly suggest Linda Ronstandt. Patsy has a powerful voice and is amazing, but Linda is in an entirely different world with her voice.

The voice, IMHO, is as iconic as Etta James. TIMLESS music! She has other mega hits. Enjoyed your reaction, TY.
Birth is a death sentence, so what can go wrong? Sincere reaction.
Ah, the "countrypolitan" version of this hit. Patsy Cline was a pioneer in country music. "Walking' after Midnight" is another classic, and has a bluesy feel to it that was a bit different for the times it was recorded in. BTW, I see you're taking notes on the song. I like that.
Loretta Lynn Named her daughter Patsy. Loretta and Patsy were very close.
She and Loretta Lynn were best friends.
QUEEN PATSY!
Greatest female voice all time
Patsy was on crutches from a car accident and recorded this song in one take.
It's interesting that she is singing about something Willie Nelson went through as he wrote it. She made it hers though and, as you say, everyone can relate to it.
Tank- her heart
Anthony Hamilton- my heart
Rejuvenating Sundays,I recommend Lenny Williams with tower of power, and diders on a storm by the doors, mind you I'm really a funkyteer by nature.
Riders on a storm by the doors

Besides being sung by Patsy, Willie Nelson wrote this great song !

Can you react to Bobby brown Rock Wit’cha
Patsy left us way too soon.
Can you please react to Allen Stone - Consider Me
Now listen to a 13 year old LeAnn Rimes (sp?) sing this same song 😮

@RoyValenzuela-gi9ce Oh your a Ferlin Husky fan too?
@RoyValenzuela-gi9ce Oh okay that's great!
@RoyValenzuela-gi9ce Would you know how to go by sending her a music video request?
