There are a lot of things in GTA IV that I wish was in GTA V, like the explosive sniper rifle, and the fucking crouch. Why no crouch in GTA V? Why Rockstar?
also being able to cut off chopper tails with another chopper, being able to play in game modes with NO auto aim, game top Cops and robbers, and actually fun car crashes were every car couldnt just roll itself back over when it flips. I miss that the most, having an car chase shooting back and forth before crashing into a damn alleyway or something. both drivers having to scramble out of the wreck and pull their guns out before the other guy, it felt so COOL. every car in the new one can instantly recover from any flipping, its lame as shit, and everyone has a homing rocket and sticky bombs and auto aim.
James Loucks yeah they need to have no auto aim lobbies, it totally kills the skill play, bro I'm telling you, whenever someone's out of range and it's just free aim, I wreck them. Auto aim takes away so much skill it's annoying
Jack Hintze they openly talk about getting hammered at work all the time. well more so when these first came out than now, most of them were pretty drunk.

as a Scottish fire fighter I can honestly say that Gavin is right they are integrated into the ground under small square manhole covers it's a matter of simple lift it and the hose connects within half a second due to powerful magnet connecters that instantly start the water flow the process takes all of 3 to 4 seconds if you done it enough
Abigail Archer-Addams no because the sign for them is head height from the ground but yeah to a pedestrian it could be hard to locate them but it's just natural to us they are always within 10 feet of the sign and dead in the centre of the pavement or sidewalk if you will it's just a matter of blasting the ground with a heated hose from the truck you'll find it in seconds

In da UK we don't have hydrants to prevent cars crashing into them. The Trucks get water in 1 of 3 ways, pump it from a nearby reservoir, stored in the truck itself or dropped from the sky via a helicopter with a massive bucket
I think that's partially because you have less severe winters on average than we do here. The hydrant as a design is to help fire crews find the water sources in deep snow in the winter, which is part of the reason it's painted bright red. The other part is, like you said, to make it easier for people to see them so they don't crash into them. They're not as easy to break off and send skyward in a torrent as video games would make you believe, though.
InchonDM we do have the equivalent of a hydrant, but it looks like a metal plate in the ground which can be opened and connected to. as gavin said, ours are buried in the ground
they are located on pavements in Scotland and there would typically be a big yellow sign on the plate or at the inside edge of the pavement referring to hydrant it's not illegal to park next to them as they are very accessible
