Great precis. You should certainly watch the series. I had only a prep school grounding in classics and enjoyed this show immensely. It starts off amusingly Alan Partridge but - as others have commented - accretes a serious tone. I would love to hear your verdict after!
The show isnt bad but not accurate in terms of the Gods needing humans for immortality which is nonsense. The Gods were aound long before humans and need nothing from lesser forms. Hollywood ruins movies or tv shows with the Gods in them by always showing them needing humans for immortality ect like Clash of the Titans ect.
The whole point of the show is that the myths are made up by the gods to make people worship them. Of course that's not from the myths. Zeus also didn't live in an era with tvs so it's weird to nitpick it.
The myths would never say that the gods need humans. The myths were basically religous propaganda from over 2,000 years ago. I mean no Christian would ever say that Jesus needs humans. But look at those religions. They are dead. Humans clearly didn't need any of those gods. And we don't need Christianity either. So yeah, the gods do need humans to remember and spread thier stories of they are going to remain real in any sense of the word. But as we all know, none of this is "real" no gods exist so why are we complaining about Hollywood changing the myths?
Right because Greek mythology is devoid from woke concepts just as bisexuality and so entirely serious we have a whole genre of comedy based on it's mythology. If you think the show was to woke for Greek myth you're ignorant on the mythology and how the ancient Greeks wrote about it.
@@mormacil Τhere is nothing woke about Greek mythology. It is full of "toxic masculinity", "muh patriarchy", lack of racial diversity, coz they were all white supreme gods n shieeed... and last but not least, no "inclusion". Just Greeks vs. barbarians.
While I agree that Hollywood is obsessed with putting things like this in everyone's face, this is the one genre where this is actually part of the original story. Greek mythology is saturated with all types of sexual exploits. The difference between Greek myths and modern woke storytelling, is they didn't let that identity politic or sexual preferences be the central theme and get in the way of the story. Having a good story that happens to have bisexual characters is not what makes something woke. Woke is what happens when people can't tell a story, and let the over-focus of Identity politics run over any narrative. When so-called writers behave more like activists and need to pack themselves on the back for displaying representation, when they can't even put together a good narrative. Kaos is not that story.
KAOS may not be mythologically accurate but I enjoyed it tremendously, best show of 2024 so far for me. It's very clever.
1000% agree
I loved as well. I was trying not binge it. I failed
I love your passion for history!

I can’t wait to finish each episode and let you all know what I think ! 😍
The Gwads as they would say in Boston ❤❤❤
😂😂
The trailer is misleading.. the series is quite different and has very serious and dark storylines...
I mean it’s a trailer, we saw people being hanged in it so we all assumed it was gonna be a LITTLE dark
Jeff looks like Akhenaten.
I AM DEAD 😂
Super clever! Thanks for the mythology refresh. Was the tongue cutting accurate, my mum and I don’t recall this with Hera ? Or the bees?
Anytime! You’re totally right, there is nothing about this with Hera’s priestesses!

Very true! I’m hoping in this case it’s serving a plot point rather than just being an oversight!

You missed the point. The gods made up the stories to keep humans in check. Please give it a rewatch
This series is a travesty of Greek mythology. It is too woke and too ridiculous to derive from.... Greek mythology.

It is a modern day retelling of Greek Mythology. Did you expect a cast with only Greek ancestry and a set specifically Greek? Way to go small mind.
