The cafe here us brilliant, loads of inside and outside seating and you can park right upto the grass area and watch the aircraft from your car. Nice place

North West Air Ambulance have 2 helicopters based at Barton (Though not ALWAYS the same 2, they appear to 'Borrow' one from Wales, Yorkshire etc. when they are one down for whatever reason). The Greater Manchester Police helicopter is based there also. I could be wrong, but I think all are the same type (H135).

Nice Aerodrome Barton and you get chinooks and apaches sometime refuelling. You never know what you are going to see
Did my first flying lesson there in 1988 in a Cessna 152.
