This blew my mind, then I remembered that the common black raven is supposed to be the most intelligent animal next to man. They don't make fire, they use it. These are two very different things.
As a WLFF (wild land firefighter) I can sincerely say that the fire hawks are a danger to society and that oddly enough we need them. Believe it or not, but firefighters sometimes fight fire with actual fire. Take away the fuel source so it doesn’t spread as bad. Also the kangaroos that dive to the black (burned area) is not a bad idea. It’s an actual tactic used by firefighters when poop hits the fan. To put it short, birds are flying flamethrowers and kangaroos have some fire smarts that are as useful as they are to humans.
Fire is how every forest renews itself. All forests must burn usually every 5 to 7 years. Clearly the bird was smarter than the man. Good video for pointing that out!
What I learned from this video- Princess Olga was a soulless monster that tricked people into helping her destroy their own city so she could conquer it without getting her hands dirty.
I don't know why other birds do it, but the fork tailed drongo does it because it has learnt that fire chases insects out of their hiding places, and the fleeing insects will fly without first checking the where abouts of the predators, thus becoming easy to catch. In my area, even when I am using a spade to remove weeds or tall grass, the drongos are quick to spot me, and hang around patiently, catching any insect disturbed out of its hiding place.
