I've always felt that Eiglay was the crucible version of elden beast, and perhaps even was fed the skinned bodies of the gods by the GEQ to make it stronger-- basically its always felt to me like that the serpent inside its stomach everyone becomes one, akin to how the jars work, and therefore the power of these victims to eiglay become its power, just as rykard says to 'join the serpent king as family', as rykard isnt called the serpent king, and eiglay has been used by fromsoftware as a male name before, im assuming the serpent king is eiglay, perhaps the serpent king consort of the gloam eyed queen? what do you think

Something worth noting is that the winged snake statues in the Church of Eiglay are also in the Flooded Church in Shadow Keep, the one with the lift down to the Scadutree Sanctum. And given Hornsent is surprised that Messmer is a 'base serpent', this means that the snake was likely already derided by the Hornsent as a culture. Which I rationalize as the contrast between Enir-Ilim being sacred and above, and the sanctum of the Serpent being down below.

It is "saint" as in a good person. "Don't whip me, I promise I'll be a living saint!" As in a person with good morals, not some divine being. The hornset stuffed crunched up criminals into a jar with a Shaman inside, then imprisoned them, with the hopes that they will becoming "saintly" as in "Better, more moral, people." That's what the Japanese text is saying a "living jar saint". And item descriptions of the jars in the core game reference this directly: "Though the jars are brought to life by human flesh and blood, they are all rather kindly folk. Perhaps they were made to be better than their innards." See that? It directly references the Japanese version of the description.
That being said, let me point out the obvious placement of the snake skin. They stuffed criminals into the snake, forcing it to grow, but unlike living jars it grew hungrier. It did not become a "Living Saint". Unless, of course, we want to say that Marika was stuffed inside that snake.

Rycard being a demigod is the only reason he was able to take control of it but other than that it’s more or less like a man eating Numen able to eat and blend everything with it including the gods which also might explain why the godskins where so successful they where made to win at that point

I don't recall where, but there was a tablet or something around those coffin ships that suggested they were built to carry the cremated remains of the dead to the afterlife (or something like that) by sinking into the earth, and i think the putrescent knight's description clarifies that while the remains were supposed to be fully cremated, when the power of ghostflame was stripped it instead left charred corpses, which proceeded to putrify. Not sure a stone ship full of charred corpses designed to sink into the earth makes for a good ark 🤷

The Snake held some importances with the residents of Mt. Gelmir. It probably was the center of some culture in the continent.
We know that Messmer was cursed to have the snake, BECAUSE of something that Marika did. (I Believe it was mentioned in his Remembrance)
So perhaps Marika knew Eiglay, and her betrayal of that snake was the betrayal mentioned in the trailer. And thus her spawn would be cursed with his own serpent, as a symbol of that betrayal. Just like how her other sons would be cursed as Omen.
Now, Eiglay either survived, or was somehow brought back from the dead by Rykard. Who wanted the power to usurp the Erdtree.
One of Rykard’s abilities is to call spirits, which seemingly has little to do with serpents (as Spirit-Calling is more associated with Sorceries and Int).
So perhaps Rykard brought back the soul of Eiglay, and made his body the vessel. JUSR LIKE how Miquella brought back Radahn’s soul, and put it into Mogh’s body.
However, Rykard obviously retains some level of conscious, so he might’ve altered that ritual to some extent to benefit himself more.

I completely agree with your theory that Rykard's snake, the skin in bonny village and the one in volcano manor are all part of one. the only myster for me still left is why the skin is in Bonny Village. If we just look at plain facts it could seem like the serpent has been put into the jars too. We see how Rykard snake is able to absorbe heroes to gain power, similar to how the shamans are able to melt with other bodies.
But shedding skin for snakes it means they are growing... to grow they need to eat.. so what if in Bonny Village the snake was feeding? i really don't know where this theory goes.. does it mean that the hornsent were feeding him jarred creatures? was it like a natural waste machine for the leftovers? not yet sure about this theory...
Also if the serpent is the god devouring serpent and it shed it's skin because it fed and it grew, then did it eat gods?

After watching this video (th-cam.com/video/t_3HuiEVvP0/w-d-xo.htmlsi=FwZndpVzi1bTGUOD) and yours, I feel like you're both correct. I think Eiglay IS the Gloam-Eyed Queen. I also believe she was the first attempt at creating a saint, before the jars. Think about it. The jars are a container filled with shaman bodies, and what is Eiglay? A LIVING container filled with shamans (gods).
Eiglay is literally exactly what they were trying to create. What if Eiglay ate so many shamans, that it slowly took their form? It took human form as the Gloam-Eyed Queen. Then later obtained the rune pf death, which could have just been given to her by the greater will, because she is the perfect being to wield it, a living embodiment of death. Death of so so many shamans, to create her.
Nobody ever asks WHY the Godskins skin gods, but what if they do it to prepare the flesh of the god for consumption by their queen, Eiglay? It would make a great deal of sense, because she is a serpent, who sheds her own skin to grow, and the godskins could be ritualisticly skinning gods to imitate their mother and leader? They take the skin, wear it, and maybe one day they will grow from it and shed it, becoming gods themselves, as the GEQ is. She would be the perfect exact opposite to Marika.
The Hornsent screwed up, they created the devil of the lands between, instead of the god they desired, so they figured if they used a different container for the flesh, it would work. Then they started to use the jars, because of the mistake they made.

Look at Messmer's armor under the red cloth. Looks like Malekith's, with wraps very similar to the Wormfaces in Faram Azula. All of these characters are associated with death, which is the colours of black and gold...and red.
Look at the shade of red of Messmer's flame. Look at all the black wisps. Now recall what Destined Death looks like, when we defeat Malekith.
Messmer is some kind of manifestation or incarnation or aspect of the rune of Death. That's what all the demigods are; living aspects of Great Runes. It's why the demigods that gave up their great runes (Ranni and Miquella) also give up their bodies in the process, and are only able to persist as a spiritual entity through rigorous training and learning, leading them to different dark, esoteric ritual methods of attaining immortality through the ability to persist past physical death.

I've always thought that the affair that lead to gold was with the serpent. I think Marika betrayed a bunch of people to steal godhood for herself. She likely used the gloam eyed Queen to kill her own fingers, as to not get her own hands dirty. She likely used the serpents to get immediate power, and likely the gold threads she used to craft her own rune. After she killed her fingers, abandoned the GEQ, the greater will, and the hornsent, stepping through the gate in her own to become a god that had "The kindness of gold without order", the other factions would have turned on her. Biding their time and waiting to make moves (the snake with rykard, the GEQ killing her son, and the greater will showing up to enforce the order that Marika tried to escape from).
