I am Swiss and live in Gruyères, close to Gstaad. This video is indeed quite nice, but the reality is even much more beautiful, especially iwhen you leave the large streets and go up to the mountains. There the real breathtaking magic starts..

Every time I watch your videos I get tearful, I was born in Bern in 1966, lived in Büren and moved to the states in ‘74. I have not been back since ‘74 but since I retired three months ago visiting my homeland is at the top of my list.
When my daughter was 19 she went on a trip to Europe by herself, and part of her trip was to Switzerland and even my hometown Büren. A couple years before she went my uncle Max took his family for a month long trip to the states making a stop to my house in the PNW, it was very nice seeing him because we hadn’t seen ‘74, but it was like we were in contact that entire time. He was the first relative I’d seen in over 48 years.
Even though I was only 8 years old when we moved to the states I do remember the beauty, the peacefulness, simpler way of life and cleanliness, speaking of which I did not see one piece of trash throughout the video. Garbage on our roads and highways have gotten so bad around here that it actually made the front page of our local paper, and their excuse is always COVID Switzerland had Covid yet no trash, it has more to do with the people.

To touch on my daughters trip a little more, I asked her to do something very important to me which was take lots of photos when she visited my home town. While she was there she sent me 2or 3 pictures and to be honest I was getting upset with her because I wanted more pictures sent. Well a couple months later was my 50th bday and my daughter surprised me with a beautiful video of her trip to Switzerland and most of all my home town. She included pictures of downtown Büren, the school that I went to, our house and even my grandmothers house.
It meant so much to me to see my daughter walk in the same places I did over 45 years ago as a child, I’ll even catch myself with tears in my eyes if I’m in a store and hear the song she attached to the video, it is the best gift I have ever gotten.
