The Whacky World Of 24 Hours Of Lemons Racing

- Cheap cars. Themed outfits. Silly penalties. Judges ruling with an iron fist (unless they are suitably bribed to look the other way.) An intense 14 hours of endurance racing (that's right, even the name is usually a lie.) There is something I have always found very appealing about Lemons, but I'd somehow never made it to a race before this one in October at The Ridge Motorsports Park in Shelton, WA. Of course it started pouring rain, and although a couple cars bounced off of walls and such, there were no penalties issued - which often result in maximum hilarity. It's entirely possible that a DDG-backed Lemons car will exist at some point in the future, so hopefully you find this stuff as appealing as I do. @24hoursoflemons

Race Track in the Middle of Nowhere: A perfect place to build a housing project so that Karens can complain about the car noise from the track that was there years before the housing project was built.
Oh yeah. Can’t wait…
Can’t wait to see you build a lemons car.
This is what your volare was born for
You might be onto something there. Although I had some muddier ideas for that one. Haha.
Cool video. Thanks for posting. I love all racing. From F1 to NASCAR to NHRA drags. It's good clean fun for the whole family!
Fun stuff, thanks for sharing! A 5-speed D50 2.6 would be a lot of fun but I didn't see any mini trucks, probably just a car thing. The Rampscamp was pretty hilarious though.
Thanks for posting this. Love seeing what cars people bring to the track for Lemons.
Cool event! Looks affordable too!👍
Too much fun
Two YT universes I subscribe to that I never in a million years expected to converge....well, there ya go.

Great event only thing missing ? A corn dawg
I've always been a fan of how much fun lemons racing looks, but this just confirmed it. Hopefully next time I'm down there's one happening somewhere.
Doing one of these lemon races would be a blast
Lemons rules! Glad yer a part of it, uh, I think....
Looks like it was a fun time. Some great lemons cars!
Looks like a lot of fun!
Wish we still had our old first year Pinto with the Cortina 1.6/4speed or the Plymouth Horizon with the 1.6/4 speed- they would fit in well there.
Do have a HO Durango 4x4 with a Lincoln Locker out back...
I knew I shouldn't have got rid of my 71' Comet :-)
I had one of them too 😆 🤣
This is bucket list stuff.
That Mitsuoka is just a bonkers looking effort
Never heard of it....good content and thanks
Great video
Lemons or something like it is definitely on my bucket list! MUCH more seat time than autocross...
Looks like affordable fun!
Oh, neat another episode.
I wish I'd found your channel when this race was ran, would have been fun to meet you. BTW, I built the Probe that won this race, small world!
Oh dang! That’s awesome!
ah the beloved rampage[scamp] as rare as a d50!! love them both🥰🥰🥰
Now that's racing!!
How about a Mitsubishi Challenger for a proper REDRAM house?
Automotive fun and comedy at the same time! I used to go to see figure 8 races back in the day and it was even better when they had races pulling old boat trailers(with boats on them). A friend of mine would "compete". I always thought it looked fun but never had the nerve to try lol.
I definitely want to see boat racing some day. Haha.
Lotsa cool videos of various figure eight insanity out there. School busses, several types of trailer racing etc. but ya hafta be there to really feel the crunch lol. Love the Rampage on the le mons!
Heard mention made of Cortona. Owned two of the 1968 variety. 1600 pushrod engines with two-stage Weber, maybe headerish exhaust? Just a blast to drive.
I knew nothing about them when I saw this race back in October but have since learned a thing or two. The Lotus Cortina is just awesome. This was a Cortina body dropped on top of a different chassis, but I don’t remember what it was.
@@DeadDodgeGarage mine were just stock Fords. The Lotus was shown in the owners manual. Blew my mind that it existed.
E30 BMW chassis
Amazing!😂
The LeMons
I found an entire row of Irish pubs in Salzburg, Austria....
“They’ve got one in Honolulu, they’ve got one in Moscow too. They’ve got four of them in Sydney, and a couple in Katmandu!”
Folk racing is fun too
Was that a Brat? 🤣 I haven’t seen one of those in ages
Plymouth Scamp / Dodge Rampage. Similar idea.
Vert Der Ferk!😂
4:08 When he said "Land Crab," I thought, "No...can't be...they don't have those." 11:46 UNPOSSIBLE, WHAT IS CAR'S STORY?
I wish I knew…
I’ve always wanted to do a lemons race or a gambler..so we’re starting our own gambler in the Coeur d Alene mtns
That’s awesome! Totally random, found a big laminated map of the lake there in a Hemi car today. It’s beautiful there!
Way cool!! There’s some sweet mopars hidden around here
Damn, this race is just begging for a 64 Dart 2 dr post with a screaming slant 6. Or, to follow the old Chevy with the tree strapped to the top, a 48 DeSoto with a roof rack with a dead deer strapped on would be a good contender, at least for entertainment. I do think an older Subaru is good too. But a Vega? I thought the last running example died sometime back in the late 80s.
We have… various interesting ideas. Haha.
Let's see, in order... that's "The Complex"... the Corkscrew is a bit further South and wayyyyyy steeper (driven both)... Lemons cars are always, errr "interesting", and where did you find the Irish pub?
Interesting indeed. In Shelton. Haha.
@DeadDodgeGarage ah, I must find this magical place next as I'm out at The Ridge!
Wheres the K car ?
Great question!
Still "$500" you can purchase a more expensive car and offset it by selling the parts not used. Safety equipment, tires, and brakes don't factor into costs. If you can't prove you only spent $500 or bribe the judges, you will receive penalty laps. Odd foreign cars, American land yachts, malaise era cars get a pass, period. Read The Rules!
Nice track. Wow,a Vega, don't see any of those here in northeast anymore. Did see a rampage recently though. Good times.
Yep. I probably could have explained the safety equipment deal. As with every other video I’ve ever made, there was a lot more to say.
It's a loose interpretation. Essentially, if you have a fast(ish) car you'll compete against other fast(ish) cars.
If the judges think it's fast, you'll get penalty laps. If it's faster than they think, you'll get more penalty laps the second day.
*If you want to be fast/win, this is not the place for you.* Lemons is about having a crazy time at the racetrack and possibly racing.
You know like they used to do in the 60's & 70's.
I used to watch these races years ago until I got turned off by the attitudes of the promotors, racing some beaters with your buddies wasn't good enough, they want "themes"and dressing up weird, it's like a jr. high clique where normal car guys aren't allowed.
I don’t think that’s true. There were plenty of normal car guys and relatively plain cars at this race. But the goofy themes and team outfits are things I don’t think are found in many other race series, so I’d have a hard time faulting them for capitalizing on what makes them unique.
I think you should do this, because I am a commenter, and my opinion is better than yours.
😮🤯
@@DeadDodgeGarage Love your channel Jamie, so glad I found ya.
