she is actually an amazing groomer. shes is not rough on the dog but merely giving them direction so that she gets the job done properly, in a timely manner and considering the dogs safety. io would assume that most or all of you have never groomed a dog before so best leave it to the experts.
Perfect groom! Wish I could find a groomer as experienced with a bichon cut as you. They always want to give my bichon a poodle cut or a bad puppy cut
rowiebby it’s taken me 5 groomers to find a decent bichon groomer. My dog very nervous he goes every 4 weeks I comb brush in between. These groomers need to be trained-on Bichons are they are not easy and hard to please the owners.

I wish my bichon looked like that all fluffy but when we go to the groomers they always cut his fur so short so it never grows back as long as it used to so we can't style him like that
Just tell them you want it kept long this time....that is if you are brushing your dog every day. They are high maintenance dogs like she says in the video and if the owner does not brush it every day (properly) or bring it to the groomer EVERY WEEK you can't keep it long. That is my experience with the breed. that if the owner is not brushing the dog we can't keep it fluffy in long cause it hurts the dog to brush out all the matts
Same problem with my Bichon Ada they always shave her, I really think that this grooming chain has no idea how to groom her! What kind of brush do I need to get for her?

Briauna Mickens I have a Bichon also, some groomers don't like taking the time. So they just cut the dogs hair short. I had to change groomers.

She was wonderful with that dog, not rough at all. My gosh, if you can't say anything nice than don't say anything at all. The groomer knows a heck of a lot more than you.
Your camera man focus on your chest and arm rather than the ear! I'd like to see how you trimmed the ears!

We have a little Bichon and she is shaved
We shave her for a view reasons
1. She's likes to be outside more than inside
2. We live in a hot climate
3. She dosen't dig with her pawws -_- but with her face
the bichon looks awesome DOES NOT MEAN the groomer is gentle enough
She's an awesome groomer! I feel bad though that I didn't take better care of my 17 year old Bichon during his life time. That dog was just fine, and the groomer knew exactly what she was doing.

That Bichon is far within the AKC standard for a Bichon. If you are looking at a 6 lb Bichon you probably got it from a puppymill. My Bichons are 10-15 lbs

Thank you for the informative video. I learned a lot, even though I'd enjoyed, bathed, and groomed both my "girls" for over fourteen years.
Just a couple of notes: Bichons are supposed to be WHITE. The AKC breed standard states "Color is white, may have shadings of buff, cream or apricot around the ears or on the body. Any color in excess of 10 percent of the entire coat of a mature specimen is a fault." Also, " "Bichon Frise" is derived from the French "Bichon à poil frisé" meaning "curly lap dog," not long-haired dog (because they aren't really).
Yes, I have seen an apricot Bichon...from a backyard breeder who obviously didn't care about the breed. I think that, as Bichon lovers, we had a duty to protect this special breed...and that means buying from reputable breeders....not puppy mills, pet stores, or backyard breeders. PLEASE protect the breed!
My second note: The little girl you groomed is an outstanding representative of the companion breed. However most Bichons, including my own CKC dogs, do NOT have anywhere near as beautiful coats and therefore do not need as much grooming as you suggested the breed requires. A bichon does NOT have to be high maintenance, and therefore financially unattainable. I bathe my Bichons once every 2 or 3 weeks with haircuts every 2 to 3 months (not including regular maintenance). People CAN easily keep their bichons coats short as short coats are easy to keep up and don't matt as much. Besides, my dogs aren't foo-foo dogs! They like to go swimming and run on the beach and hike and jump in the car and go, go, go! A foo-foo dog haircut would make them miserable! (Can you imagine that gorgeous dog you groomed for the video running on a sandy and muddy beach and swimming in seaweed laden waters? Yikes!)
These little treasures have long lives....so many so-called "senior" dogs (8 and up) end up needing new families when their people end up in nursing homes or die. My 13 and 14 year olds are as active as ever, and I plan on having a good five years or more with them. So if views get "Bichon fever" watching this terrific video, consider contacting your local Bichon Frise club and adopting a so-called "senior" dog. You'll have many many years of joy (without the pain of potty training, which Bichons are well-known to balk at).

Please email me telling me how to tell the difference between the "Bischon Frese" and a "Bischon Frese" "Poodle Mix" I adopted I thought was a Biscon Frese. He is georgous. On the paperwork five years ago when I adopted him it said Bischon/Poodle mix. Then the second papers said "Bischon Frese" How can I ever know what he is? He has beautiful black eyes, black nose, lips trimmed in black, tail that goes over his back black nose. He was bald when I first got him five years ago due to being abused and matted. Now he has a lot of hair. I don't know how to groom him, but I keep him bathed once a week, use whitener shampoo. He is soooo white that people stop their cars and ask me how do I keep him so white!. He is such a lovely dog, obedient, smart, plays fetch religiously. Everyone tells me that I should have him on TV he is so talented. He knows all of the commands that I have taught him during the five years that I have had him. I am 71 years old burt I manage to keep him clean and beautiful. It is not easy.

I wish I could find a groomer like her for my Bichon. She was not rough. You have to be firm or these guys will try to jump out of the tub and off the table. Great video.

Beautiful Bichon and lovely cut. Used to groom our one myself but not to this perfection but made a pretty good job of it. They are lovely dogs with a wonderful nature, but as she says very high maintenance. Watched the video to take me back. Our little dog died quite a few years ago now but always love to see them around.

Very helpful video. One area that I would have enjoyed a little different camera angle what the grooming around the face. I couldn't tell exactly what was meant by trimming the hair on her nose. A closeup from the front would have helped me.

You could be right. The groomer recommended that I give mine med to calm him before brining him back to next groomimg. Mine is not active, sleep all the time but no way he ever stay still for me like that. Everytime I'm ready to clean him he start walking away and then run. I've never seen him run so fast.

And I have a Havaneser Dog , she also will be 13 years old on the 18th of September 2005 .She is the most wonderful Dog that I have. They both just love each other like Twins.

thank you very much for video. I rescued a Bishon in Dec. Just had brain surgery and got home.Ended up on my lawn,had friend take to Animal Control. Determined he was about 9. He was only 9lbs,sick,hungry,fleas.They gave her shots.I enqrd a week later,Said most likely put down cause old/sick & homless 6 months.I wanted to give him remaining good life.They gave him to me.He resuced me. His name is Buster.
Thank you for these videos! We were adopted by a stray Bichon 13 years ago and he’s mostly been professionally groomed. But now his vision and hearing are so bad that I don’t want to stress him out and have decided to groom him myself. These videos are priceless for our situation!

The dogs tail doesn't curl up on the back. That's one very common trait of a Bichon. My dogs tail is always curled up on his back. She wouldn't have to clip mi Bichon's tail. Haha

This is my bischon Bear. He's 5 years old. He is so good at the groom's because my daughter who is a groomer taught him how to behave when he was very young. For a long time she was the only one to groom him. She's a master groomer so she knows what she's doing. Unfortunately she now lives far away so she only does him when we go to visit.

I managed to persuade my parents and I am getting a pure bred Bichon Frisé for £200, you used dollars so I am assuming you are canadian, American, Austrailian? Here in Britain it is around 200-500 British Pounds and even if you exchange it not EVEN close to $3,000 :)
On larger breeds or dogs who hate having their nails done, I typically trim their nails after the bath so the nails are softer and I don't have to use as much pressure on the nail clippers. There are always exceptions!
Haha I got my Milo on sale at a pet store. They had already sold him once, but the owners returned him for being too hyperactive. The store seriously had him in a bin marked "clearance", so I nabbed him for $300. 90% markdown :) Good deal for a lifelong best friend

i dont even trust myself with my fiances shaver when trying to use it on him, let alone my puppy. But she does slip around on the floor sometimes when hyper because of the hair on her paws.
What would you say are good techniques to prevent bouncing your scissors? Also, I noticed you pushing down the fur around the foot while cutting it....does this help to keep it even when you snip it off?
