I was in freshman year when I probably really just neglected RT, RvB and RageQuits, minecraft lets plays, animated adventures and all that. during the first years rwby first came out, short bit after Montys death was when I recall so from like 2011-12 was the last I remember.
Its a real bummer when you stumble back into find and watch a compilation of animated adventures. Seeing a comment about Geoff and Griff split... Ray leaving..... Then learning Joel getting quietly axed from RT as a whole(long story in that, but regardless , just sad it happened).... Learning Bernie is stepping down as COO and leaving the company...
I just hope that they're all okay, epsecially Michael, now that Ive been more in the loop, hes tweeted recently about getting professional help with his ANXIETY. Im like bruuuuhh noooo, how can MICHAEL be sayin this man..... Never, ever did I envision, with that personality.

This kinda summarized why Ray left. This is when he was having fun. This is the Ray I think we all kinda fell in love with.

sabotoge26 I'm aware. I'm just saying, he wasn't having fun at AH anymore. He was basically being forced to play games he didn't wanna play. If you watch Ray's streams he's basically playing something new everyday, too, so playing the same game every week would drive anyone crazy.
It was definitely an AMAZING job most likely, but now that he has the option to play what he wants and get money, he just resigned

***** Yeah I watched some older vids of them playing minecraft. It seemed like he was enjoying things a lot more back then than he did right before he left. Playing the games that they played would be fun at first but being forced to play games that you don't want to play and playing the same games every week would get boring pretty quickly.
Geoff actually looked and sounded sad about saying Ray quit.
After seeing them both on Off Topic 177 4 years later,you kinda get why. Geoff did pretty much anything he could to keep Ray in AH.
@austinanderson2000 basically Geoff wanted Ray to stay, and Ray was determined to go streaming full time. So Geoff would offer more and more and more. Geoff knew that a lot of people watched for Ray specifically, and they all had good chemistry together.
I get the impression that Geoff,Ray, Michael,Gav,Ryan and Jack were all actually really good friends and Geoff was really bummed to hear one of his friends wanted to leave.
@@skotty253 But if Geoff wanted Ray to stay why didn't he stop the Minecraft? Playing the same games over and over again is what made him leave, it was obvious! You need only to look at how Ray left and what he was like playing Minecraft to tell he hated it. Not to mention the lasting enmity between him and that game.
@@tomhill3248 I think that's because of how big Minecraft was for them, so many people came for Minecraft that they couldn't just cut off the Minecraft episodes without a significant impact on the channel. Where, if they had Ray not in the Minecraft episodes, they're losing their Ray audience. It was lose lose unless they kept the way they were going.

This was the Ray i fell in love with. Hell, his sarcasm basically crafted the way interact with people, I was always socially awkward until Ray. That may or may not be good but it helped me find my persona outside of being a shy kid.

Now that it's been a while and I've adjusted, I think Rays decision was for the best. Jeremy and Matt have grown on me and I always watch Rays streams. Overall he seems much happier, and it's obvious that the decision was made with good intentions and not because he disliked anyone at the company. I do wish Michael collab'd with Ray every now and then because they were always pretty good friends but it's still really entertaining.

Watching this I just realized how much Ray has impacted my life throughout his Achievement Hunter career.
I see why Ray left now, it's rare he has as much fun as the early days and I don't blame him to be honest. I just hope someone like Ryan doesn't leave too otherwise I think I won't watch them anymore...

He's all about comedic timing. He'll come back at just the right time for maximum laughs.
Wow, coming back to this YEARS later and seeing the old times of ah and realizing how much ray just absolutely dominated in games and content. AH has definitely grown to be much more than it was with ray but man, its taken a whole new team to match his level of energy, skill and wit. Thats not to give him too much credit as it has allowed a lot of people to bloom and really shown themselves like jeremy and i guess that the silver lining of him leaving, it allowed for everyone else to get better. Sidenote, although he left, he is the only real achievement hunter, as in, he actively tries to get all the achievements in a game while everyone else kinda does it from time to time which is something to think about.
I think him being the only true achievement hunter was something that stood out to me even back in the day when he was leaving. Don't get me wrong I was an AH fan on the whole and Geoff was always my favorite founder but I often watched videos for Ray. Of the group he was the most relatable, he was the most dedicated/skilled gamer, and he was funny no matter who the content was with. However, all of these things became reasons for him to leave later on. Imo Ray was able to find success because of AH, he grew from the community and even IB only existed because of the nature of the old AH community. But AH could not support the direction Ray wanted to continue on. AH was transitioning into a content group but Ray just wanted to game. I haven't watched AH in a couple years but I doubt Ray would've been down to go in the direction AH has gone. I can't imagine Ray wanting to do Haunter more than just wanting to game.
All that bring said I never watch Ray anymore but he shaped the comedy of a bunch of weird internet people and I think that's dope.

Ray's not dead.
I just came back to this video now in the last weeks 2018, and it amazes me every time how much Ray effected my view of video games and, well, Achievement Hunter in a whole. I started watching these dude playing games together before there Minecraft days. I did hurt to see Ray leave the company but I am convinced that Ray did make the right choice in the end. By this point in time Ray has been streaming for about 3 years now and they just keep on getting entertaining; people say that the boys at achievement hunter lost there charm and Jeremy will never replace Ray, but that’s bull shit. The guys are still have there charm and gotten a little funnier due to them all growing up a little more. Yes, no one can ever replace the sass, sarcasm, and ability to laugh their own ass off by their own joke like Ray, but Jeremy was never trying to replace Ray. Jeremy just another fan that turned into a staff member then was given a chance to work in the main room with rest of the guys and they accepted him, he grew into his own person and developed his own little fan base around himself. Now instead of 6 man children in one room it now has 8 man children and 1 women with a bun in the oven playing video games for a living who I am surprised that they haven’t broke monitor yet with a moon ball of stabbed anyone yet with all the amount of weapons in the room....
.... Now that I think about it, if Ray did stay he would have gone crazy when the first sword was mailed in.
