I got to meet Sam before the match! She was absolutely amazing and you could tell she is such a kind, wonderful person. It was awesome to meet such an impactful player. Sam made so much progress for women in sports and I can't wait to see what strides she will be able to make for women in sports media!
love having y’all back on my screen, and Becky too! I’m grateful to witness this new chapter in the wake of a devastating retirement, and I cried a bunch watching Sam’s ring of honor ceremony, then laughed through tears at Sam realizing she was sobbing. also was waiting for Sam to tell Lynn the loss to Seattle wasn’t her fault at the end of this ep, so go Lynn and go Bats!
I love how Sam chose...in a very unbiased way(?) chose North Carolina as the team of the weekend haha but that was one of the top teams this weekend. Fantastic pod! Please make these available on podcast addict!
Thank both of you for all the effort you put in at the Courage. I know things weren't great behind the scenes, but the fans appreciate everything you did for us. Lynn was saying that she feels attachment to both teams and I get that as it was gratifying to see her win the playoffs last year even at a different team. You both are legends. On the topic of the game you mentioned Manaka a little, but I want to highlight that on the third girl her work rate was incredible. You mentioned in the return to the area that you have left behind that legacy of hard work and I think she displayed that perfectly in this goal. She lays the ball off to Bianca St. Georges (76:19) puts her head down and turns on the jets. She covers so much ground to get to the far corner and make it possible to put that cross in and I love seeing players rewarded for that effort. I do think Houston made a mistake by not seeing that and closing her down, which I expect other teams will begin to see as well and adapt to that, so I am interested in seeing how she manages to keep being involved as teams limit her options.
One thing I noticed from the new Kansas city stadium is they have to take stairs to their locker room. Dibenia got hurt and she had to go upstairs. That's nuts.
Ion is a major broadcast network. It's a free over-the-air channel, like ABC, NBC, Fox etc. Like the CW, they tend to favor programming geared towards women.
Fastbreak candy bar for our Bay, I'll take it ladies. lol I think their candy will change as they'll be a growing team. Great show as always,Sam and Lynn! Heal well,Lynn and enjoy the MC v ManU game,Sam!
Legally with the contract with the PA and i assume whatever agreement they have with UKG nwsl had to have a challenge cup but didn’t say what the cup had to be. So that’s how you get this.
It kinda makes sense, the challenge cup. It’s like when you’re playing a game and challenge a player/boss/level for a one time thing. If you win the challenge you are rewarded
i went to the arsenal chelsea game. It was something. It was painful. Emma’s post match was so funny (like always). and arsenal just like your socks london is blue. the little sing song was something. loved singing unwritten with my bestie (we also met tho chelsea) love my club
Yeah I was kind of gutted Gotham didn’t win especially because on EAFC there was a showdown where the winner gets a +2 from and 87 and maskull got the upgrade and I was hoping for Crystal Dunn to get the +2
Hello Sam. I hope you enjoy your return to Manchester. I commented for a year that Manchester United needed Oshoala, but alas. Will you have time to visit York in the adjacent county and try the place that serves stuffed Yorkshire puddings? If not then once again, alas, poor Jorvik (you are an English graduate). York is home to KitKat too. Check out how many sweets came from Yorkshire manufacturers. Lastly, I wondered if sports manufacturers would introduce reversible socks. If so I claim the rights to the idea.
Great show....your insight on wanting sharing on your show re: anxiety.....see Coach Kara Lawson of Duke women's basketball on the ESPN SC Feature talk of her motivational insight she shared with her younger players - "Handle Hard Better". Really applicable.
the thing w Emma Hayes is - yes her wording ('inappropriate') and timing (bringing this into the discussion of player-coach relationship which is much more sinister and abuse of power in nature) are unfortunate to say the least but anyone who has watched the whole clip of her explaining why she thinks p-p relationship presents managerial difficulties would understand where she is coming from. Personally i do not disagree w her pov, and she is not even advocating a total ban of it, just saying it is v v difficult for the coaching staff having to navigate these. You can disagree w her ofc but some of the woso fans on twitter is so fucking annoying w their discourse and branding EH as homophobic....begging these ppl to have one ounce of critical thinking abilities.
Definitely wished for better game. I love Arsenal too! The sock business …just let them wear the socks they had even if both same color 🤷 JHC! Could Chelsea not have changed to dark socks??? Be good hosts? Just wondering 💭
@@gwynbourlakov7252 it’s a precedence that’s been set for soooo many years for both men’s and women’s it’s not as simple as Chelsea just changing. Arsenal is a professional team they should be prepared
Not blaming the Arsenal kit manager for anything? That’s too nice Sam😆 they had one job and they brought the wrong away kit. A human error but a big mistake all the same.
Ugh! Have you both hear the latest on ACL injuries linked to menstruation?! So annoying and not trying to propagate this menstrual theme as a way to denigrate female athletes BUT want to call out the propaganda
I really don’t see how menstruation and ACL injuries would correlate. I think that’s just something men who don’t know what they’re saying like to throw around “oh it’s because women have periods”
The community/charity shield has been going on for about 100 years I think in the men's game. All the gate receipts and programme sales are distributed to the 124 c.ubs from the 1st found of the FA cup and they distribute the only to charities of their choice

“first up! the challenge cup kicked off and also finished on friday night!… very short cup.” -sam 😂
The North Carolina courage photos looked so nice. Sam’s hair was giving

Very exciting week for women's soccer. I watched it all. Mostly highlights. This was a good podcast.
This dynamic between Sam and Lynn is my favorite ❤️
Nice discussion at the end about the calendar, contracts, expectations.
I am so HAPPY you are back.... I would have (and was) really missed you guys!! Look forward to also seeing Becky too.....
It was hard to find but was able to find via GoogleTV app
Gotham FC are definitely Haribo sour vampire bats!!
I think Lynn was talking about smarties being Chicago candy. But it’s called rockets in Canada
So happy to see you both back together ❤

As an NWSL fan I’m so overwhelmed with all the different networks!!! What the heck is ION lol!!!! There’s like a zillion different platforms!!!
Ion is a major broadcast network. It's a free over-the-air channel, like ABC, NBC, Fox etc. Like the CW, they tend to favor programming geared towards women.
35:33 was Lynn talking about Smarties?
I thought she meant Necco Wafers?
Or sweet-tarts!!!
Yeah it has to be Smarties
Or sweet-tarts
Yep - screaming Necco wafer at my phone.

18:59 such a throwback

Nice ❤
Get this get this, delayed game for wrong socks but no game delay for flooded field with player safety issues.

Well said 👏
I second that!
Exactly!
But what about Spirit and Reign candies 😢
Red Stars = Necco Wafers, Lynn?
I think the alter ego bit needs to die, but I did love Lynn choosing Reese's for no other reason than she likes them. 😁
Necco wafers!
The league should have East and West conference like NBA/NFL so there's less cross-country travel for players.
Go with Sour Patch Kids .... (;-)
Double Swiffer? Nice.
But why am I mad at Lynn for not knowing any candy and also choosing gum as a candy
#sockgate !!!! This was fixed!!! Wtf ever forgets this rule?!?! 🤷🏽♀️ I love Arsenal!!!
Idk what u mean but Arsenal was just not prepared and they got the consequences for that 🤷♀️
Definitely wished for better game. I love Arsenal too! The sock business …just let them wear the socks they had even if both same color 🤷 JHC! Could Chelsea not have changed to dark socks??? Be good hosts? Just wondering 💭

Smartees
Can you guys please get Kristie on as a guest
Neccos or smarties
