I bought a 2013 Dodge grand caravan put new tires brake pads rotors new battery. The thing runs like a champ change the oil every 3000 miles I have nothing to complain about. I will buy another new car and fix it up so I can have two reliable solid vehicles. I will be damned if I ever spend anything close to 100,000 for a car.

My house in rural Illinois is worth 50 grand as it is a 2 bedroom built in 1800s. I will never buy a car for more than my house is worth.

I solved this problem. I only buy old(er) cars, 2015 or older, from private sellers. Before any purchase I pay my mechanic $60 for a pre purchase inspection. It's never failed me yet.
How about never pay msrp... If you're buying a brand new car you are wasting your money... Let someone else waste money maintaining the first 30k-50k maintenance.. Buy used.. Dealerships are just scams no matter where you go if your buying new.
These MSRPs are STUPID. Pay what you think it is worth, no more that $20K for any car/truck. If a manufacturer can't build a vehicle for $20K, then they should try another business, maybe donuts?

The only correct requirements for a car should be. Manual trans, cruise control, nat asp 4cyl engine with near 200hp, hatch back, front or all wheel drive, abs, power windows on passenger windows (its OK if driver window is a crank), disc brakes, limited slip diff, 16" wheels/tires, fog lights, cd player with good sound system. All other options are unnecessary. Moon roof, automatic, cvt, start/stop, cylinder deactivation, rear drive, adaptive cruise control, GPS, back up cameras, streaming, hands free, on star, satellite radio, air bags, leather......

Just purchased a Toyota Corolla after driving my focus for over 10 years and 180k miles, loved that car. Ford doesn't make anything I want anymore.

Yepo.. car prices are insane. My boss sold her 2 years old RAV4 Hybrid for 10% more than her BRAND NEW RAV4 Hybrid. So she got the car 2 years ago and drove it everyday, and got MORE MONEY when she sold the OLD for a NEW. She was so happy and decided to give us extra Christmas bonus! HOORAY!!
Only $400 for nitrogen air , $400 for 3m door edge guard, $900 for a catalyst tag and just another $1900 for an alarm system. You just have to walk away

Yeah I'd rather buy 2-3 mazda 3s for about $100k. Than buy 1 ford at any price. At 46 yrs old I'm sure one mazda 3 would last me the rest of my driving life. The other 2 would be expensive lawn ornaments and would still be a smarter, less wasteful purchase than buying a ford/ev/cvt.

When a manufacturer tries to recoup costs for bad reputation/poor quality by making their cars more expensive, consumer response should be exponential.
It's interesting that Ford the manufacturer warned the dealerships about this behavior.
And that is why I’m still driving my 18 year old SUV with 175k on the Odo. I bought it new and have taken great care of it. And I swear I will drive it 18 more years or even walk before I pay the insane automobile prices of this weird and crazy era.

Actually if you combine the sales figures for the Chevy Silverado and the GMC Sierra, they always exceed the F 150 so as the Silverado and the Sierra are essentially the same vehicle, the F150 is not really the beat selling vehicle in the world Scotty.. 7:42

In 1the early 1970s to mid 1970s one could buy a good sized 3 bedroom townhouse in Chicago for 25,000 to 35,000 in quite a nice area! $60,000 for a stupid car in 2024. which after 3 years will begin to need repairs. Few would purchase cars if the transportation system was better and safer.

We purchased an F350 diesel stick dually back in 2000. That 7.3 was the best fucken engine and tranny they ever made. But I had to sell it here last year. Aged out couldn't get up into the truck any longer. It was a sad, sad day to see it go. I did NOT replace it with a Ford. Ford doesn't make the 7.3 nor do they even make a stick!
Wish I could afford to buy outright instead of finance, but it will take me as long as the loan term in order to save up that much $.

For reference in Canada There’s currently a 2024 f-250 for $143,495+tax at a dealership in Scugog Ontario (Canada, October 2024) it has the 6.7l high output diesel and is the Rousch Edition but very hard to justify that pricing either way. Unbelievable

But was highest pay out dealer in state. From the 9 dealers I went to.

When I moved to the US, back in 1972m I can afford a brand new Ford Truck, I can buy home new car. After spending 54 years in the US, I can not afford a hub cap for the car that sold at the dealership, The sales taxes and dealer alone is beyond my ability to finance.

MSRP is supposed to be the highest possible price. Most other markets you almost never pay MSRP on other goods...
I see that Chevy marked up their Corvette from $ 60K to 120K----never for me.............
Now you know why they made the C8. It was a massive cash grab! The C7 had an average price of $73,000. The C8 had an average price of a $100,000. That's a substantial increase in one year from 2019 to 2020. And that was before inflation was an issue.
Red deer VW tried to ILLEGALLY mark up a Jetta $9k over the all-in price which is against the law in Alberta Canada.
I love how they're talking abkut fod when Stellantis CDJR division is falling apart ATM
