  • This was probably a better and simpler way forward than getting a piece of alloy tube welded on - a separate spacer can be made up and easily fitted when the engine goes back into the frame, to complete the repair.

    Why not make the spacer right away and maybe weld it on for that factory look?

    Is that an adjustment nob for the oil pump, the shaft that runs from the tappits down to the pump?

      @@John900C I think this dates from the time of no multi grade oils.
      Thick oil at start up, giving too high pressure and hot oil too low pressure, so you have to adjust the pump to suit temperature and conditions.
