- Boris Johnson, one of the most controversial politicians of modern times, has taken over as the UK's prime minister from Theresa May. He's wasted no time in putting his stamp on government.
No fewer than 17 ministers have left the cabinet, making way for a team with much stronger Brexit credentials, including Dominic Raab as Foreign Secretary and Priti Patel as Home Secretary. Mr Johnson has also repeated his pledge to take the UK out of the European Union by the 31st of October.
The BBC’s political editor Laura Kuenssberg and Deputy Political Editor John Pienaar give their take on the day’s events with Huw Edwards presenting live from Downing Street.

It's a pretty standard analogy. Besides, the Tory Party only really functions by backstabbing and continual skullduggery - Boris is a past master as well a survivor of the racket.
I can understand why the BBC remarked this comment as they are comparing the reshuffle to Harold Macmillan’s 1963 reshuffle (being dubbed ‘Mac the Knife’) however they could have chose an alternate phrase to coin the firing.

Well his government had a working majority of two (now down to one), he was voted in by 90,000 close to death Antiques Roadshow viewers, not the country as a whole and most of the Commons think he is an unprincipled narcissist and blithering buffoon. Unless you're aligned with the certified headbangers in the government cabinet the prospects are not rosy. So, therefore, I think the BBC is being balanced and fair in its reporting.

We all, in Britain, might feel at times that the BBC is biased in favour of people we disagree with. I get incandescent with rage at what I consider the disproportionate amount of coverage the so called 'anti-Semitism in the Labour party' gets. Nevertheless on sober reflection you have to concede that the BBC is one of the most balanced media outlets in the world. If you disagree name me a more judicious one.

@New King Right, so long as he's not watching any live feeds of BBC content he can watch that same content later for free and have other people pay for it.... no problem? If you want to boycott something then actually boycott it. If you're not happy with the funding structure of the BBC then write your MP. The BBC provides a wealth of educational, documentary, entertainment, news and music content to the UK and beyond for less than £12.60 a month. On a News front alone, it at least continues to provide an alternative to sensationalised outlets such as Fox News or Sky. By the way I never said he couldn't speak, he can speak, and I can respond.

Many, many people comment on the bias of the BBC, so I feel that I do not want to support such an organisation. In the same way that I would never buy the Guardian newspaper, although they don't send me threatening letters via a private company, Capita.
This information is for everyone. I cancelled the BBC tav tax over two years ago. All I get is threatening letters, 'we will be arriving during this week...' etc. In over two years no visit. If they were to visit I do not need to let them into my house, but would politely thank them for stopping by and goodbye.

As a casual follower of British politics to this point I had only ever seen Johnson depicted as a "popular", entertaining, ambitious politician who was lauded for winning in London.
