Thanks James. It was running at 8 cumecs measured at kuripapango , data.hbrc.govt.nz/hydrotel/cgi-bin/hydwebserver.cgi/points/details?point=167 . Nice to paddle at that level with clear water but probably better at 10-15 cumecs.
Such a cool vid, what was the flow when you ran it? Was there any part of it you wouldn’t recommend for a beginner? I was thinking about flying into Ngaawapurua and hunting for a few days then paddle out to Kuri over a couple of nights.
Thanks @greghughson7450 . It was running at 8 cumecs measured at Kuripapango. It is easier below Ngaawapurua but still technical dodging rocks a lot of the time. And below Kiwi mouth it's even easier with more water as the river widens out a bit. There's an event coming up at labour weekend called mighty mohaka, you can find it on Facebook page PRANZ.
Thank you for taking me with you! Greetings from Switzerland
@sergeibrin2691 Your welcome, glad to have you along 🙂
Awesome trip. You got the weather just right!
For labour weekend we were very lucky.
Man that was epic. The walk in would of been strenuous
The walk was difficult but well worth it , fantastic scenery and wilderness.
Really cool video thanks Michael - out of interest what was the river flow when you went through? Seemed pretty perfect to me

@@michaelwalksnz I’ll have a nosey, thanks for the reply 👍
Very informative video. Does it show all the most difficult rapids? I'm planning this in 6 months time.
Thanks. It shows most of them, theres a couple of others in the Ngaawapurua gorge but they're not difficult. Good luck with your trip.
Awesome video man. Did u wear a full wetsuit or just 1mm pants and semi dry jacket
Thanks James. I had a 2mm soft paddle top and bottom from Torpedo and a 3mm shorty wetsuit over top, warm enough in good weather.
