Using electrical brain stimulation to treat Charles Bonnet Syndrome, Kat Da Silva Morgan, Newcastle University
When the brain isn't receiving proper information, it begins to make things up.
Never heard of this; it does sound scary!
Found this very informative and thank you for the info
You can quantify your result by using 'FUNCTIONAL MRI' pre and post stimulation of cortical area.
I've been experiencing this since having a retinal artery occlusion (aka eye stroke) about a year ago. At times it can be exhausting, and I am frequently flinching away from things that aren't there. I wonder if CBS is the visual equivalent of Phantom Limb Syndrome.
This condition CBS should be known to treating Physician , Ophthalmologist , Neurologist and Psychiatrists as well. There is possibility of labelling this patient as the Crazy or Schizophrenic. Can be disastrous for the patient if not handled properly.
