@@benedetta_crln if he does a song for the Hole, he does It with the Hole style.. when Maynard write for the tool he does it in a certain mode and when he does it for the perfect circle he does It with a different artistic sense.. but, of course, you can see the hand of Cobain in that, the Lyrics are in the same style and quality of many others of Cobain.. do you think that Courtney knows how to use the "cut up" style for writing? you never hear something like that after the pass of Kurt?
To clarify: Yes, Billy Corgan wrote this riff, co-wrote 5 songs on the album, and played bass on one track. Neither Courtney nor Hole have ever denied that. Courtney actually isn't a fan of the riff. Believing it to be "cheesy" and she supposedly even turned to bassist Melissa Auf du Maur (who shared her sentiment) upon first hearing it and said something to the effect of, "We'll write the most beautiful bridge and it'll be OK." She, however, has fully given Corgan his dues and totally credits that riff as being the reason the song was a hit. She says Corgan told her to trust him with it and that he was ultimately right. She says this in her Behind the Music special and on stage when she performed it with the Pumpkins in 2018.
Well I dont think she ever got around to writing it because this song doesn't have a bridge. There's only 3 parts and they are all repeated. She plays the verse for a 3rd time (the riff she hates) in place of where the bridge would be. So she couldnt have hated it too much.
without a doubt, first album was so good! And I know people will mention Billy Corgan's role in the success of this album, but fuck that! Courtney had to pull it off, and she did so with aplomb.
I love that she always had that honest contrast between what was expected of her- a perfect hollywood doll- and the more raw, real person she actually was. love her!
I’ve never gotten why people get so bothered when somebody hears of an older song because it was in a movie. We should be glad that this music is getting new listeners. It’s just my opinion.
It’s annoying because it shows a failure by their parents to introduce them to music from their time. I was introduced to 60’s 70’s 80’s and 90’s music growing up and that’s why I was able to detect the garbage music from my time in the 2000’s and 2010’s while my generation ate it up because they don’t know better
@@DrunkenSlob failure? Not everyone’s parents listened to the same genre! Plus, this came out when I was six and I damn sure wasn’t listening to rock at age 6 and my parents were already deep in their thirties and forties by then. What a silly comment.
She was amazing in that Larry flynt movie., and even dated Ed Norton for a while. Only arguement I can give is, she plays a junkie wife in flynt movie, she played a junkie helping sid n Nancy score dope in "sid n Nancy " movie, I mean it's not to far of a stretch for her. She was just herself in a way. I'm not discrediting her flynt role, it was a really great movie anyway.

@Careful Icarus Arranging a song doesnt mean he wrote the bassline. Otherwise, we'd have to say that Lars Ulrich wrote all of Kirk's leads, James' rhythms, and all the basslines since he arranges all of Metallica's songs.
Mad respect to Courtney for being one of the first, if not the first, to warn about Harvey Weinstein (and also for calling out Linda Sarsour on her fake feminism)
Pretty sure they take her seriously about Harvey was that she's portrayed as a drugged-out floozy. But sometimes it takes someone on the outside of mainstream to call the big shots
Kurt and Courtney had a symbiotic songwriting relationship. Kurt taught her how to make catchy radio-friendly melodies. Courtney inspired him to make heavier harder-edge songs on Nirvana's 3rd album In Utero.
+Derek ??? Well I don't doubt that they must have shared songwriting techniques at some point she definitely didnt teach or inspire him to write heavier songs. Have you listened to bleach? He didn't need motivation to be that way, and he didn't teach her to be radio friendly; he fucking hated the fact that some of his songs became radio friendly and frequently played by the mainstream audience

I know a lot of people give her shit but honestly, with doing drugs, having a truly shitty dad accuse you of the murder of your husband, together with the rest of the world, that's gonna mess you up. She said some fucked up things, but a lot of people fucked Courtney up, not saying she didn't do shit to herself as well. I'm just saying this is not an evil woman... Did you know she used to self harm? I'm guessing Courtney is a sensitive woman, and having to deal with people judging her all the time is not helping.
Courtney is a psychopath that killed kurt by driving him to hell so he would kill himself or by doing that for him. She is in for the money, dating rockstars for fame and heroin. Covering up her actions in kurts death by feeding the media lies. after all that I LIKE HER MUSIC -_-
Zlkidda@gmail.com Goddard Eh, you gotta admit that a mentally stable person would not kill themselves over being cheated on. Kurt was depressed and not in his right mind. It was depression that killed him, and normal things that happen in life became too much for him.
And she called out the actual issues that get manipulated into lies. The Pig Legions needed a sacrificial Harvey after the hurricane mop up. Love's comments and warnings weren't exactly heeded; probably because the rabbit hole goes so deep. Definite early trash talking on Rose McGowan.
People were so rough on her. She was the voice of reason their whole marriage. My heart went out to her ❤️ she tried to comfort Kurt's fans instead of the other way around. 😭
@@dadevi If you know Madonna you'll know that she was in a movie called "Who's That Girl" where she played a character that had a personality that was strikingly similar to the Harley Quinn character. Produced by Michael Beinhorne who was making the heaviest sounding records of that era (Sound Garden’s Black Hole Sun, etc..) However, no one ever repeats working with him…. Too tough a task master.
That’s Deen Castronovo playing drums on the album. He helped Michael out with this and a Social Distortion album.
@@MobiusMindedI didn’t realize Michael was such a taskmaster. I wonder how Deen Castronovo managed three albums with him. Maybe just because he did his drum parts in one or two takes then split.

Courtney really was something else, it's easy to forget with all the drama that followed but god damn what a one of a kind she was, a true female rockstar who wrote some great tracks.
😂 she didn't write any of this, especially this album😂 Billy Corgan and Kurt Cobain did! 🤦 Oi
@@TT-hl5ql No they did not. They literally did not write it. Billy Corgan co-wrote a couple songs for ‘Celebrity Skin’ and ‘Nobody’s Daughter’ and was credited as a co-writer, Kurt didn’t write any.

100 percent Cobain's Lyrics
@@andreagori5634Doesnt sound like any of his and sounds exactly like every other courtney song so ????
@@benedetta_crln if he does a song for the Hole, he does It with the Hole style.. when Maynard write for the tool he does it in a certain mode and when he does it for the perfect circle he does It with a different artistic sense.. but, of course, you can see the hand of Cobain in that, the Lyrics are in the same style and quality of many others of Cobain.. do you think that Courtney knows how to use the "cut up" style for writing? you never hear something like that after the pass of Kurt?
To clarify:
Yes, Billy Corgan wrote this riff, co-wrote 5 songs on the album, and played bass on one track.
Thanks 👍
Well I dont think she ever got around to writing it because this song doesn't have a bridge. There's only 3 parts and they are all repeated. She plays the verse for a 3rd time (the riff she hates) in place of where the bridge would be. So she couldnt have hated it too much.
Love the song Malibu, too
Bottomline Corgan knows his S**t like him or not. There aren't many in the business who can write and compose better than him.

She was amazing in that Larry flynt movie., and even dated Ed Norton for a while. Kurt and Courtney had a symbiotic songwriting relationship. Kurt taught her how to make catchy radio-friendly melodies. Courtney inspired him to make heavier harder-edge songs on Nirvana's 3rd album In Utero.
