Great ride... I paused at 10:42 not sure if u mention it later, but that rattling sound is the Bendix gear on your starter. Buy the kit (spring and gear $60) and fix it ASAP or you’ll be learning to pull start off a primary fast. You’ll love the 129 once u get into some snow.... you didn’t tell us about your new sled... next time haha.

@@shagboys2251 That sounds like the bendix to me. It's a common problem on the doos. The spring wears out and cause the bendix gear to flop around. Every ding you hear is the bendix hitting the ring gear - the bendix will wear out to the point it has no teeth on it and it will just spin when you go to start it. I have heared that sound a lot and 99% sure thats what I hear in that video - you hear it on the trail as well after that. But all in all a beautiful sled - I love it!
If you guys were south west in the Binghamton area they got 42 “ on the 17 of December . They have gotten 97” of snow this winter . More than Tug hill ,SYR, BUFFALO,ROCHESTER.

We ride mostly town of webb Old forge. Or Island Pond VT . I have a camp in Adirondacks and my uncle's is in VT so we go where the riding is good . Let me know when you boys head to Old Forge Trip here soon . Im game for any riding with snow. I only do the mud thing at dirt tracks lol
Hey brother I put about 20 miles on the 850 yesterday and I’m not impressed my 800 has way more pull on the bottom end. Maybe it’s just me first impression is I don’t know if it’s me but a totally different riding style I will give it a chance. I drove a matryx 850 137 yesterday and that pulls and pulls. But I can’t get used to be so high in the seat.

@@shagboys2251 I’m in Nova Scotia , The Cape Breton Highlands is where we do most of our riding check it out on google maps. They have been getting sea effect snow for a steady week now. So it should be good by the weekend and we’re going to head up then. Check my Instagram (erictracey89) I have some clips from the last storm we had locally. It’s a 2hr drive from my place to the Highlands depending on where we’re riding that day.
Hey Shag I put up a storm ride on you tube. I got about 150 miles of seat time and fine tuning my suspension It’s getting better and better each ride. But I just got called back to work and where I work is only 30 minutes from the highlands. We’re setting up for a schedule 80 pipe for a 900 pounds of pressure steam line. I’ll be off the sled for about a week. Oh well. I gotta eat to I guess, but I hear eating is over rated anyway LOL 😂.

Not that I haven’t ridden on trails like that just to get a ride in. 🥴 With not many getting to ride yet this season I’m glad you sacrificed the new sled for our entertainment. I almost loaded up and went to Tughill but talked myself out of it when I viewed the Barnes Corner webcam and seen you couldn’t fit another truck and trailer in the lot. I haven't been out that way in probably 10++ years. We had a hard time with the trail system when we came up also. Would be nice to do some semi-local riding again one day. Oddly enough, I'm out west riding right now, but I still am watching the weather back in the Northeast.

I have 8 Cats, 4 of them being Mountain sleds, 2 touring sleds, an 800 trail sled and finishing up the 1465 Triple in a Mountain Chassis. I don't have any videos from this yr in Montana yet, just previous years, but maybe Tuesday I will!
I was riding farther south of you guys today in the Springville/Boston area. There was water holes as well but not as frequent, more fields to drive down. Trails were definitely better despite having less snow. Some bumps here and there too. Praying for more snow and better weather! It was a teaser for everyone!!
Looks like the median was the best riding of the day. That's December for ya. He needs to put an extension on that plywood so it goes to end of tailgate. Make it much easier.

I remember going to Errol nh and the trails were icy but we were heading up to the higher elevations to Pittsburg nh some trails were plowed and total ice but all of a sudden we hit the motherload total whiteout deep deep snow freezing cold 🥶 if you wanted the haven for snow we found it it was like Siberia everybody was smiling yup here we are I moved off trail to take a leak and sunk down at least 4ft had to dig my way out stayed there all day flying around the trails had lunch got gas ⛽️ and headed back to Errol on all that crap we came across earlier but it was frozen no water 💦 bars but treacherous so we made stops to cool the tracks and slides I had the best and newest sledd the rest had older fans and older skidoo revs and 2 Polaris 600 liquids but early next morning snow in Errol off we went back to paradise where we stayed was half of what Pittsburg nh charges for rooms great time hopefully this year is not a washout like last year but that trip was in 2009 and another to Pittsburg in 2010 I sat out after that till last year so I’m ready this year I moved from mass to seacoast nh when I had a house built now after 10 years away I’m back

In my opinion hamburg and derby trails are the worst in the area.. eden would have been a better ride for you but still had alot more mudholes.. to be expected for first season rides.. hope we get snow soon
Great Effort on the first ride. This is one of the reasons I keep some of the older Wedges around. I don't feel bad if they get abused in early December.

That would likely conditions I was riding on yesterday in Buffalo New York. The powerlines were straight up mud. And in the woods it was a swamp. My sled had an inch thick of mud on it.
Yes, most trails are groomed by local clubs. Old Forge , NY charges a trail use fee and the town maintains the trails. They do a better job then the clubs. Where are u from ?

Well that sucked. The ride that is. That’s the first time I have seen paisteys sled dirty. We were supposed to ride the Highlands yesterday but I ended up finding a weather cam for up North and backed out. It’s just staying to mild we can’t get 3 days in a row below zero. So I dialed in the 800 and gave her a good cleaning. How did you like the 129 from your short ride. I am going from my 121 beaver tail to a 17 x package as well. Whiter Days to come boys.By the way nice jacket Buddy I got the 2021 version because I bought a new one last year and it fell apart at the inside sleeves so they gave me this years to replace it. 1 yr warranty on it so I Waite till the end of the season and returned it. I like the colour scheme on your sled I like 👍 it. Oh my back after pushing that on.

@@shagboys2251 I put a vid up when I finished getting the 800 ready and I just finished cleaning my clutches and changed chaincase oil and new plugs. Plugs were $21 a piece so I put 2 new ones in and 2 new ones for spares but people are saying I won’t need them out riding. We will see. I’m finishing it up today with belt deflection and track adjustment and full lube and I will post a vid when it’s done.
Is there good trails out here? Are they all like this in upstate? I got to fort drum last year and didn't bring my sled (from Minnesota) but am thinking of driving it out now.
There are tons of trails in NY state. The 3 best areas for snow are Old Forge, Tug Hill and Arcade. You definitely need a sled around here. It’s a warm winter so far but it changes fast. Where in NY are you ?
@@shagboys2251 meant to say fun. Long story short, we had a flood here last year and the sleds spent all winter full of dirt, water, silt etc. So after cleaning up the house, 2 garages lost etc, I just wanted to ride em at least once after working so hard to save em.
I rode Hamburg/Eden trails yesterday night (Saturday). That rain before the snowstorm didn’t help the cause. Too bad cuz we got 2 and half feet of snow!

If you guys come out this way ever again try Chestnut Ridge in Orchard Park and then shoot south to Colden/Boston/Eden. Much better riding. Sucks that your ride in my neck of the woods was garbage.

I went out today in Ontario we have about the same amount of snow and didn’t even take the sleds out of the trailer. Not worth it to get the first ride in.
i knew gary wasnt going he is like me has the equipment but don,t want to get them dirty my harleydavidson roadking is a 2006 only hjas 10,000 miles on it still has orignal tires my sledd is a 2019 only has 237 miles my trailer is 2020 nitro hybrid never registered till last week i only snowmobiled out of the park where my snowmobile club grooms trails were great but sledd was in my garage till i madeup my mind about trailer then went riding and used tempory plate at purchase

@@shagboys2251 No, I should've went when we had 2'. I had drained the chaincase oil, not realizing I didn't have enough to fill it. And I didn't want to take a day off midweek for the early season snow. Last year didn't get out until January 6th, then second ride was end of January so still got some time.

Gary has risen the 800 eTec and 850 eTec XRS sleds. He found almost no difference in motor performance. Let me know what u think long term.

The problem was that the ground was not frozen before the snow, we had no base. This section was not groomed

@@shagboys2251 I put a vid up when I finished getting the 800 ready and I just finished cleaning my clutches and changed chaincase oil and new plugs. Plugs were $21 a piece so I put 2 new ones in and 2 new ones for spares but people are saying I won’t need them out riding. We will see. I’m finishing it up today with belt deflection and track adjustment and full lube and I will post a vid when it’s done.
Love the jacket ! Ya you have more snow then us but it warmed up too much that day. We got out for a good ride in the SNERT to! Video to come to soon.

Is there good trails out here? Are they all like this in upstate? I got to fort drum last year and didn't bring my sled (from Minnesota) but am thinking of driving it out now.
There are tons of trails in NY state. The 3 best areas for snow are Old Forge, Tug Hill and Arcade. You definitely need a sled around here. It’s a warm winter so far but it changes fast. Where in NY are you ?
@@shagboys2251 i went out in the dolgeville area and it was run but I took it easy. Not enough base. We got all that snow and now there ain't much

@@shagboys2251 meant to say fun. Long story short, we had a flood here last year and the sleds spent all winter full of dirt, water, silt etc. So after cleaning up the house, 2 garages lost etc, I just wanted to ride em at least once after working so hard to save em.

I rode Hamburg/Eden trails yesterday night (Saturday). That rain before the snowstorm didn’t help the cause. Too bad cuz we got 2 and half feet of snow!

@@shagboys2251 Those power lines you guys dumped at and driving down McKinley is always a pain in the ass. If you guys come out this way ever again try Chestnut Ridge in Orchard Park and then shoot south to Colden/Boston/Eden. Much better riding. Sucks that your ride in my neck of the woods was garbage.

@@shagboys2251 lol I know but but its always such a hit and miss nowadays get maybe 3 days of snow then back to 50 and rain it kills me watching the snow melt on my cameras from Florida its exactly what I figured 40inchs of snow then a few.days later rain makes me sad lol..

I went out today in Ontario we have about the same amount of snow and didn’t even take the sleds out of the trailer. Not worth it to get the first ride in.

i knew gary wasnt going he is like me has the equipment but don,t want to get them dirty my harleydavidson roadking is a 2006 only hjas 10,000 miles on it still has orignal tires my sledd is a 2019 only has 237 miles my trailer is 2020 nitro hybrid never registered till last week i only snowmobiled out of the park where my snowmobile club grooms trails were great but sledd was in my garage till i madeup my mind about trailer then went riding and used tempory plate at purchase

@@shagboys2251 No, I should've went when we had 2'. I had drained the chaincase oil, not realizing I didn't have enough to fill it. And I didn't want to take a day off midweek for the early season snow. Last year didn't get out until January 6th, then second ride was end of January so still got some time.
