Absolutely incredible machine you’ve built Bill! I’ve been wanting to build a printnc as well. But yours is super heavy duty! Can/have you cut much steel on yours?
Hi and thanks for the rap Yes I have machined a couple of parts out of steel and it handled it well with good surface finishes a lot slower then alloy of course cheers Bill
That is a great setup looking forward to the day I join the ATC family. also id highly recommend some 3m 2060 tape for taped work holding its got a lot more bite to it.
Hi Ross well no one wants to look at crap videos even if it's about CNC things, so decided I would have to up my game, early days yet but yeh there has been some improvement cheers Bill
Hi Brian well as you know better than anyone doing an enclosure is a sizeable project in it's self maybe some time in the future but I will just use it as it is for the time being looking forward to seeing yours all back together again cheers Bill
Hi Craig Good point I have been pushing the machine to see what it will do but will be dialing it back a bit to get better finishes and to keep the tool cooler. never lost a part yet But yeh could happen I learn a lot from failing but that's not a lesson I want to learn that way I would not go any smaller than that piece not enough surface area ok cheers Bill PS I see you taking some nice cuts with your Jianken spindle there the best hay
Nice William, Jakob from Sweden here. Im building my own machine and havent decided on spindle yet. Thinking of something similar as yours. What are the spec on you spindle? Keep up the good work
Hi Jakob I looked at a lot of spindles my needs where a quality spindle with ceramic bearings powerful and quite ( water cooled ) and after many great reviews I chose to go with a Jianken spindle Mine is a 100mm 3.2 kw 400Hz 24000 rpm water cooled with ATC and ceramic bearings I have been very happy with it and I would buy another one the company is very good to deal with also you can email Jianken direct and they will answer any questions you have or find there spindles on Alibaba but do your own research and decide for yourself cheers Bill Also check out Piotr Fox Wysoki videos on Jianken spindles he is a legend on TH-cam and a great guy as well you will be blown away ha ha
Hi, I do the same thing as you in Korea I'm interested in fixing the workpiece with glue What kind of glue do you use? What are the precautions when gluing a workpiece? Is it possible to use cutting oil? If possible I would like to see every moment you glue the workpiece together and remove it completely.😅😅
Hi well I just do what most people do and clean both surfaces with a solvent so there is no grease or oil on them and then apply the tape etc But if you think there might be a need for a video of the start to finish method of securing stock to be machined with all the tips and tricks of using tape and glue I could do that cheers Bill
Look at those chips man!
Yes I am really happy with how well it performs and looking forward to a lot of very interesting projects with it cheers Bill

Hay Bill your getting a bit professional there after such a short time.

Great looking machine Bill! Are you going to enclose it at some point or keep it open?
Hi Brian well as you know better than anyone doing an enclosure is a sizeable project in it's self maybe some time in the future but I will just use it as it is for the time being looking forward to seeing yours all back together again cheers Bill
Nice videos Bill! Have you had any parts go flying when using the tap and glue holding method? You must be pushing the limits of it!
