This isn't directed towards you (also I hope you do well on the exams) but I wonder if trends will have a substantial impact on this generation (this is gonna be a ramble, hard to exactly explain). For instance, I see so many youtube channels, instagram accounts, tiktoks with the same aesthetic- black, white, acubi, cute, kpop, anime, essentially creating a sub culture and I wonder if the result would be a fragmentation of one's identity? I guess what I'm trying to say is that maybe following trends, meta's and such would make an impact on someone trying to forge their own unique identity in a way. Take the scene kid, goth, emo, punk etc subculture that existed back some decades ago, still prevalent today but much less unified and fragmented into other subcultures nowadays. Those who are now 50 and have families can say that a couple decades ago I was headbanging to metal and dressing up with studs, piercings, tattoos, riding motorbikes. Then what if in 30 years from now, people will be saying oh yeah back in my day I used to hop on the latest kpop dance trends on social media, have such an aesthetic desk set up and ok I'll stop this is a full on ramble, what am i doing lmao
@@KrystelGuerreroS Yeah, I wasn't trying to come across and saying it was a negative thing, it was just more of an observation of the society that we live in today and where it could lead to. Maybe I am in a bubble as I consume this type of content both on yt and IG, but it feels like everybody is adopting some sort of social media journey with 'study with me' 'what i eat in a day' 'outfits i wear in a week' etc and a lot of these creators go through with the meta right now which is liking kpop, having good fashion taste, liking anime, etc etc. I just imagined myself being a kid in todays age when all of this is happening (because i definitely feel like these trends started occuring when tiktok blew up, and yt shorts and ig reels became a thing which was only a couple years ago) and this kid consuming this content and say hey, i like this aesthetic because its trendy, popular and cool, let me go into it. So to flip it, what if they didn't have social media because I would say that this kid would not likely adopt these hobbies / aesthetic / creating social media content if they didnt have an inspiration to through consuming content. Then it very well could lead to something such as being a content creator as an actual career. I guess my point of view just delves into a bunch of 'what ifs' with what experiences that you could live in life, basically you could be a whole different person if you didnt consume and adopt this content. Like it's so funny the fact that you could meet another person at university for example and they have a channel of 'productive week at uni' as the same as you
i don't think there's anything inherently bad about hopping on trends if they give you enjoyment - i originally started watching anime & reading manga because i kept seeing it on social media, but it's become an integral part of my identity and something that i've made connections to many people through! not only is it for my own happiness, but i have been influenced by those "aesthetic study" videos/tiktoks and i started studying harder which really kickstarted my love and passion for not only instruments but also studying and doing well in school :) i think in 20 years i would like to say that i was an avid anime watcher and diehard kpop fan because those have contributed greatly to my social circle and life i live(d) in school ; i'd speak of it fondly and i'd cherish my "hopping on trends" phase because it has helped me through a lot indirectly!
