Interesting to watch how curious that one brown and white faced cow was smelling and checking out the camera. It is good that you show videos of working the cattle to show people the amount of work there is raising livestock.
Farmer Tyler....This was a great video ! Your pet cow is really attached to you, too ! You really made this separating the Momma's from the babies look easy especially since you did it alone...Thanks so much for sharing.... :)
Cowboy UP, here we GO. How did Hank (the giant puppy dog) get in with the separated calves? Very efficient operation Tyler, always easy when the cattle cooperate. Drone view was superb. 👍👍👍
Thanks Allan, he’s actually the easiest one to separate, just throw a halter on him and walk him to the new pen! I always take him out if I’m going to catch the entire herd because he gets in the way haha!
Thank you Cheryl yeah she wanted to make it on TH-cam! Here’s a neat fact, the calf that’s laying with my wife in the opening is actually that same cow when she was born a couple years ago!
Nice looking group/herd of feeder calves. You've got the corral for sorting & everything setup pretty well. Be careful working those cows & calves by yourself. I know you & others have been doing that for years, just be careful. Stay safe.
love the camera hams who get side tracked for life sized selfie. curious ,observant , gals . drone is so nice for viewing!! herd looks excellent to my untrained bovine eye!!
Great job. I love watching you with the cattle. I wondered before when you mentioned the calves being weaned. Is that what it entails, getting them onto feed and keep separated for a certain amount of time ? I don't know what I was expecting lol 😊😊🌿🌹🌿
Well done! I'm a recently newbie beef rancher and I'm learning on the fly. What are the best benefits of doing this? Learn alot off your videos thank you!!
Nicely done my friend! As you know, the bellowing will be short lived, and you'll be back on a normal sleep schedule before you know it! Ha ha. Nice looking calves by the way!
Having done this once or twice....lol...you make it look easy Tyler. The drone shots really add to your videos. I didn't see your steers that you separated previously, did you move them elsewhere?
Thanks Robert, the cows made me look good on this one! The steers were in there somewhere they may not have made it on camera. Eventually I want a totally separate pen for butcher steers but I’m not there yet. Always something right?
@@farmertylerranch4399 Speaking of "always something" you will appreciate this. On Thursday after chores, we headed to Davis for the family get together. I made one last look around and found one of the girls looking like she was going to calve. We have a closed herd and our stalwart girls are usually bullet proof...she was one of the best for never needing assistance. We got back after dark and she was not much further. I checked on her one more time before hitting the rack. In the morning expecting a new calf....I found a fatigued mom with two hooves toes down in a state of dystocia. It took some effort but my daughter and I got her into the chute. With the posterior presentation I guess none of the usual things developed. We pulled for approximately 45 minutes. It was a nice lil red bull ~ 125#++. He didn't make it. I've pulled posterior calves with good outcomes before but never that size. I know this isn't a Doc Phil forum but I just hate to loose any of them. Not sure what I could have done to prevent this. Yup..."always something"!
Wow that’s a huge calf! I know it’s tough hen you look back and think “well if I would have done this or that, things would have been ok” but it’s impossible to know in the moment. In those cases I say at least you were able to save the mom, because sometimes you don’t even get that lucky.
You are great farmer, you love them beautiful animals. They know you cause they start making that sound, when they noticed. Great work keep it up . I love your videos all that beef would be good for a Big Burger. They are telling you to come on.
There is a movie from the ranch, it will be a good day. I have nine in the morning. Even the sun came out from behind the clouds. I'm going sawing wood. Greetings. :) :) :)
Wow. That’s the first time I’ve ever asked a question, so it’s the first time I I’ve got an answer. Thank you! Do you know what the average weight was?
A few reasons, the mothers need time to dry up before their next calf comes in the spring, plus the calves need to be on a different feed ration than the mothers do at this stage.
Yeah they notice EVERYTHING! Sure I’ve been kicked a few times. The red white face that sniffs the camera in this video kicked me square in the stomach a couple years ago when I was putting her in a trailer!
At this stage in life the adult cattle need a “maintenance” ration and the calves need a “grow” ration. If they are fed together the cows will over eat and not let the calves eat enough. Plus the cows need to have a break from lactating before their next calf is born in the spring. Thanks for the question!
All farmers need a warm 💙 like you 👍
Lots of admiration for you Tyler! Plus your work another job! Crazy! I would love a life in the country someday!
I really liked how you used your drone to chronicle the process. Thanks for sharing!
Thank you guys! I like the perspective it gives too

Again, another ranch task that you explain so well and make look easy.
Your setup is quite brilliant, so workable! Fun to watch how it works!
Thanks for sharing your videos me and my girlfriend really love watching your videos have a great day and be safe.
That’s cool to hear thanks Oscar!

That's a pretty sweet set up good looking heifers and calves man you definitely can hang your hat on them
Thank you!
That went pretty smoothly. It does help that you are light on your feet. The herd looks great.
Great footage! Love the cows trying to get camera time! You do a great job by yourself! Have a good weekend!💕

Need to make her the family pet. She has a wonderful personality!🐮💕

Thank you Felicca! They were pretty good
Ya got lucky son. Usually there's always one that wants to be a problem.
You got that right! Once those are identified they don’t typically stay here for too long!
Good Movie ! Thanks for sharing, good luck !
Thanks. Good looking calf crop. Shore wish they were worth more. They need to do something to evin things out. Love the done vew.
Thanks Coy! I thought they looked pretty good too. Can’t wait to see them after a couple months on feed!

Yes thanks Crslyrn you bring up a good point. It only takes one slip up
You do most all of your ranching and farming by yourself! Damn Tyler! You are pretty badass!
Good video. Love that bottlecalf
@6:33 favorite part!!! I just want to hug him!!
Awesome sorting ,video & drone
All by yourself.
One man show ...🙌
Love the clip of you

Thank goodness you have a small herd that you can manage by yourself.
A young grandson to be really proud of
Smooth as ever, I like the guitar background soundtrack! Happy holidays to you and the family, thanks for bringing us along!
Thanks Alan!
wow never seen cows with manners!,lol you make things look easy, Hope your turkey day was awesome, hugs
Thanks Iona yeah sometimes they cooperate! Hope you all had a nice thanksgiving too!
Great job. I love watching you with the cattle. I wondered before when you mentioned the calves being weaned. Is that what it entails, getting them onto feed and keep separated for a certain amount of time ? I don't know what I was expecting lol 😊😊🌿🌹🌿
Yes weaning is just separating them from their mothers for a few months so they quit nursing
Another great vid Tyler. You make sure that little red one that you petted gets his share. He's pretty small!
You made that look so easy. Great job.
great job with the cattle Tyler
I enjoyed watching you separate the calves from mama cow 👍
Good job Tyler

Very nice looking calves Tyler!

It will be what it is!
Excellent video!
Fun watching. WhEn do you market the claves?
Probably January sometime, depends on how feed is holding out
Nicely done my friend! As you know, the bellowing will be short lived, and you'll be back on a normal sleep schedule before you know it! Ha ha. Nice looking calves by the way!
Thanks Chris yes you are absolutely right, three days and they’re either over it or they lose their voice haha!
Great job, you did a awesome job with the camera’s!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Too easy !!! Love those cows that stop to take a selfie
Love the video Tyler ! How many calves do you have?
Thanks Edwin I think there are 36 there
Great video, Thanks!!! As far as keeping them apart is feed & fences fences it?
Yes. Thanks Brandon!
And the bawling starts in 3....2....1!!!! Lol
Haha! Nailed it!
Nice job with the aerial shots.
Thanks Darin!
Happy thanksgiving. A nice set of corrals sure makes that job easy. Have you ever thought of getting a dog to help you sort?
Thanks Kory. I have thought about a good stock dog, maybe one day!
Hi - loving your videos. Im looking to start a beef unit completely from scratch over in the UK. Any advice for a first timer? Thanks
Spend the money on good handling facilities, rotationally graze, and start with good genetics. I guess that would be my top three things! Good luck!
well done
Hi I like your videos 😊😊😊😊.
How is your mob grazing going.
How many cows do you have on your farm.
It’s going ok. Seeing some results but honestly not as much as I had hoped. This year we have about 35 mamas
Thanks Tyler, another great video! Happy Thanksgiving to you and Family !!!
Do the moms cry all night and are they very loud ( keep ya up ?)
Thank you J. R. you too! Yes they do cry all night but I don’t hear them from my house thankfully!

How much heifers are you gonna keep? And what are you gonna do with that little heifercalf?
Probably try to keep 10 replacements this year.
Hope you and your family had a nice Thanksgiving day
Thank you we did!
Do you use the weaning ring or are refer this method
Wow. That’s the first time I’ve ever asked a question, so it’s the first time I I’ve got an answer. Thank you! Do you know what the average weight was?
Thanks Kirt yeah I try to answer everybody, I’m sure a few get by though! Weaning weight I would guess was around 500lbs.
How is Maci going
Great job✌🏼
Thank you Pedro!

Great job! It’s always a good days work nobody gets hurt in the process. By the way, do you milk any of them?
Thanks Paulla so true! No I don’t milk them unless it’s for a calf
@@farmertylerranch4399 - You're probably too busy to take on milking just one for your family too, huh?
How old are the calves when you typically ween?
They are 8-9 months old
Oh yeah, good day.
What’s the average age of the calves for weaning ?
8-9 months. Thanks Frank!
i thought for sure number 10 was going to take the camera with her lol
Thanks Tammy I knew you’d like this one!
Are you keeping your bottle. calf?
Ummmm....I wouldn’t be surprised if he ends up at our house with the donkeys!
Farmer Tyler Ranch 😻👏👏👏👏👏
Mrs. Tyler won't let that baby go
@@farmertylerranch4399 Lol that is what I was thinking!
Nice job man!
First. Early bird catches the video 😊
Thank you Marylouise!
That last one is still so small, I hope the others don't bully it
Yeah it’s a runt. I usually throw some hay off to the side so she doesn’t have to fight to eat
Why do you separate ? Is it to sell the calf’s, castrate them, etc ?
A few reasons, the mothers need time to dry up before their next calf comes in the spring, plus the calves need to be on a different feed ration than the mothers do at this stage.
Farmer Tyler Ranch thx brother ! Starting my own ranch here in Salem MO - your videos help a lot !
With all the dust must be in a drought.
Not for long!
How old are the calves when you wean them please?
About 9 months or so
@@farmertylerranch4399 Thank you!
👍
Great video do you have a FB page ?
Thanks Provost, no I sure don’t. For now this is the only social media I have!
There will be a lot of mooing!!!!
You got that right!
No race to the rear gate this time lol
Yeah I was surprised by that
How old are the calves?
They are right around 8 to 9 months old
They actually notice your phone, they're smart. Have you even been kicked by a one?
Yeah they notice EVERYTHING! Sure I’ve been kicked a few times. The red white face that sniffs the camera in this video kicked me square in the stomach a couple years ago when I was putting her in a trailer!
