Charlotte needs a plan for the future that is less car in the road. Build the Light Rail-Pink Line down Albemarle Rd. Stop forgetting about the East Side!!!

Jerry Davis a bigger skyline will come in time. I think the city should start focusing on Metro wide transit. All the counties in the Charlotte metro even York need to come together and talk about a region wide tax to help develop transit that will connect all the major towns. The System needs to be built out before the Traffic and the population grows too much for the infrastructure and becomes a problem. I would rather pay a slight increase in taxes for a few years than have to suffer through congested roads because of poor infrastructure. If the Taxes are raised lines could be planned and built out to the planned Cities and Fort mill Rock Hill, Concord, Statesville. Just go ahead and build it out while there's support before Intrest wavers and the whole plan for future lines die. IMO the thing needs to be built and completed by 2030. I know funding is a problem but I’m sure people living in the region will gladly pay the taxes for a short period to go ahead and get the thing completed and over with.

Good ideas. Unfortunately charlotte is reluctant to raise taxes for a lot of things so this type of project is likely a pipe dream.
Beyond that, the city really, REALLY needs to focus on cultural amenities. No more of that kitschy "here's some art" stuff either. But a push for a real organic, authentic arts community and things like it. And they need to listen to the people.
When I lived there one of my favorite places was the Common Market in South End and the city tore it down and were going to replace it with some bland office. When the people pushed back, they overhauled the project and are giving the people something much, much better. It isn't perfect but it's a massive improvement on what was originally planned. And that came from collaboration with citizens.
Lastly, but still related, save Plaza Midwood and NoDa before they become bland and boring like so many more of the recent developments in Charlotte are.

I can see Charlotte becoming a Minneapolis-St. Paul of the South with around 4 million. Why because NC commerce doesn't put all its eggs in one basket. Raleigh-Durham will always be attractive place to hq relocate as well. Transit is the most important resource the city should be funding.

Homicide this year in the city has risen to almost 100. Come on what is going on?
