I only ended up pulling one SR Mai for my black deck but I had one game during the celebration matches where I pulled her, zamasu, cost reduction bulma, and two blades of despair as my starting hand. I was able to deny them any starting board and continually draw off Mai. It was the only game I did really well because I didn’t feel like I only ever have 3-4 cards in hand

Good to see Trunks do something, I was getting worried seeing all the top 8 from various celebrations and not seeing Trunks at all. I still can't decide if I prefer Trunks or Vegeta for blue though, man if Trunks kept his crit immunity from masters he'd be the best for sure lol.
It really is dependent on your playstyle, Trunks takes more thought than Vegeta in my opinion. He can go just as Wide with his leader swing too, and do it without having to have less than 7 in hand sometimes
@@philplaystcg420 Yea personally I prefer Trunks playstyle, being able to bounce your things back for free is nuts with what blue has, but I like Vegeta more as a character, I'm probably going to play both.
Imagine saying the crazy people are the ones saying Goku Black is the best blue deck lol. Vegeta is the worst one.
How do you feel about the 1 drop haru/maki that boost your leader or trunks cards by 10k to help against the green matchup? Being able to have that extra boost plus bounce it back to hand as a 10k combo would help no?
Oh absolutely! The problem is, I think it's overkill when playing into other colors. The final hope slash/pilafs are perfect for that. Plus, having too many targets you have to remember to bounce back to hand can make the deck feel messy 😅

@@bobbyhollis1833 I'm a firm believer in play what you want and make it AWESOME! That's what I'm doing with trunks and look at what I've done 😉
I'm surprised there isn't 1 copy of piccolo to cycle extra cards if needed.
He relies on having 7 or less in hand, and I don't think that runs well in this particular deck. You want to have a big hand 😅
I think 1 or 2 goku blacks would be nice here
I keep thinking about it. I love the card, but it takes a whole turn to use it 🙃
Did you not use the 5 cost double strike vegeta too much? feels like an important finisher to only play 2.
It did come up a few times. But I have increased it to 3. Just for the green match up 😅

does this starve strategy of never swinging into leader until awakening even work against green? does that not just give them more ramp time? legitimately asking btw, im new to the game.
It's a hard call. VS green you probably need to get more aggressive, but on the side note, the leaders utility can be completely disabled. which means vs broly this deck is very capable of pushing a swing from 5-3 which means broly has to go to 2 life to even awaken as they literally are not gonna be able to defend the double strike due to hand size difference. If this deck puts green to 1-2 life it's chances of winning are extremely high just due to the sheer power you can get on your leader.
If im understanding correctly, the idea is if its not green, get myself down to 4 life, dont swing into their leader and just control board until i set up 4 drop crits then start pushing? If its green go in pressure from the beggining? I should have a big hand size do i use it to protect battles or leader ? Am i trying to build any type of board during?
You want to draw as many cards in hand as you can during those early turns. Abuse the 1 drop trunks cantrip, play cards that swing into your opponents board, and then bounce them to hand, so your opponent can't clear your characters. Once you have enough resources in hand, rush your opponent down with crit attackers and your double strike character. Also, abuse the final hope slash 😉

Vegeta, Beerus, Freiza, Beerus. Didn't face a single green.
Yeah, Vegeta, Beerus, Frieza, Beerus. The 3 green players in the room either played each other or I dodged them 😅

@@JeffDarkspawn the green match up is definitely a rough time. The strategy changes completely. You just have to swing big and take them down as low as you can, you can't focus too much on their board, just their life. I'm not saying it's impossible, just very difficult 😅 but green is the best color for a reason I guess

@@ksdden8879 well that's a bummer. Cody and I go over the best way to use each card in the deck, so you can have an edge over the opponent. But if all you are about is match ups and the list, my matches were Vegeta, Beerus, Frieza, Beerus
this deck has 52 cards on purpose?
Yes. Because mathematically speaking, the difference between 50 and 52 cards, changes less than a percent of a percent to your draws. It actually is better to play 52 than 50
When do you decide to swing though?
You always swing into their board, clear their bodies. And only swing into leader with crit bodies, or after they have already awakened
When vsing green try to loop 2 cost trunks 30k with pilaf and final hope slash, you get 2 bounces with final hope and awakened leader ability swinging for 50k every turn at leader will help getting greens hand down in hand size as well as help deal a ton of damage to life late game
Yall made me realize something with the current game.
Blue gets more power by giving up hand size.
Green gets more power and handsize by hitting 6+ energy.
Blue has a 6c that can play a card from hand for free.
Green has a 4c that can play a card from trash.
Beginning to think Green may be over tuned 😅
you are correct, you are kind of forced to rush green down as blue because there is no way to actually defent with a seven card hand when they hit their 8+ energy turns
Blue adds a card from trash to hand. and then plays a 4 or less. It's quite a bit different. and then it will continue to play a card every turn it lives.
hey love the deck list just want to know if the trunks : youth 2 drop with how the deck likes to farm cards to hand would the blocker trunks : youth be better it has the same eff while having the same combo and atk when u have a lot of cards in hand plus its a blocker

Awesome deck. Personally huge fan of starter vegeta because of the attack gain he gets which checks gohan and broly really well. Interesting to see this take on trunks he definitely has alot of potential and i think a really high ceiling

Have you thought about playing the 1 drop Zamasu to remove 1 Drops? I think it's a great card to counter potential Goku Black Players and hinder Brolys defense HARD by removing his blockers. Also can be used to remove Combo Power and used as a 10k itself.
Also I would really recommend cutting down to 50 cards.
It's been a thought, that zamasu does have some cool tech. But having 52 cards in the deck, mathematically, is no different than having 50. It's like, a percentage of a percentage different

Leader skill bounce cantrip cards
You just play 1 drop cantrip trunks, bounce it to hand. And play it again. Sure you are paying 2 energy to draw 2, but sometimes that's all you need

It's really fun! Definitely takes some more thought than Vegeta in our opinion, but well worth the extra work

I've been playing blue since release and I cannot get a game vs green. Everyone's playing green and it's dominating my area. Blue has to work so hard to even stand a chance while green takes a seat back. I was originally attracted to this game because i really thought the balance was great at first, Green will dominate the rest of set 1 and I absolutely hate it. It has was to much going for it
8 Drop broly is whatever.
Green has the 6 drop DS, can't be hit by 5 or lower removal. come in and wastes 2 targets.
That 5 green drop Goku not having a once per turn is ridiculous.

That's all true. Trust me, it's insane how green just doesn't seem to have any checks to its strength. While you can play yellow into it, which has a better match up, it still doesn't feel good 🙃 green will be hit, it absolutely needs to. Or every other color needs some SERIOUS support
In the 2 celebration I won, played against 6 green decks out of my 8 matches playing yellow frieza. (3 broly matchups) Against broly I find you have to starve them early clearing the early board, and I try to keep them at 6 early until I can establish a double striker and put them from 5 to 3 cause then to awaken they have to go to 2 or waste a lot of hand power. And if they combo out they have to waste an entire turn self awakening or killing my double striker which limits their turn.
I definitely think yellow has the best chance to beat green with blue having the hardest time against it. Don’t get me wrong though, green def needs a hit or the other colors need a serious buff!

I want something like this to work for Goku Black. Blue needs some way to reset energy or discount costs. It seems odd to me that it ended up being mostly a yellow thing.
PR Vegeta feels great (sometimes) in Goku Black, free discard if he's on board. I only have 1 atm. So many times, getting to 7 cards would leave me 1 energy shy of big combos.

I mightve missed it but why trunks over vegeta again?
Trunks has a very versatile ability. Being able to bounce your cards to abuse their on play abilities, or bounce your opponents cards to offset their tempo. Vegeta focuses on low resources for big swings on YOUR turn, but that's about it.

@@ThomasAFN316 if you ONLY cared about beating green, I'd say play green yourself, or COOLER 🤙 or honestly, even Ginyu can do it. But those decks are mostly GAS and no breaks. So play carefully 😉

What would you replace the promo Vegeta with?
To be honest, I wouldn't if I didn't have to. But if you don't own them, I'd say add another crit trunks, or perhaps a 4 drop double swing Vegeta? It's a tough call
