It’s not that he is special. He knows the keys that will tear at the heartstrings. The technique is used in gospel singing to make the message ethereal . There is a musical term for this and I forgot it. Anyone?

Barry and Goldie...........I love this story song and it is so true to life, I am sure for many people that they go through, just like the video. It is so well written and Goldie, it is so different from what we usually see you do. I think the video looks just fine. "What do you want to make Daddy for his Birthday?" and he says I want Daddy to come back, this makes me cry. I never saw this Goldie and Kids show on TV. I am so sad that I missed it as you Goldie and Barry do this one so realistically. Love you both and the little boy who plays Billy........Betsy Basile

Barry and Goldie......This story song is so well written. I am sure that many women have been through it, but it is also a sad song. Billy must have been a smart young boy. When you explained to him Goldie that you two were getting a divorce and you couldn't live under the same roof and Billy said, Let's get a new roof'. How sweet kids are. The two of you do this so well. It is really believable. Is this a part to something else? Anyway, I love it and the two of you, too.....................Betsy Basile
This song is such a tear-jerker for me...such an amazing heartfelt, emotional situation that we really don't/can't have any control over. And the words are so...real, and storytelling and make one feel so lonely for them both....(please excuse me but I've got to wipe the tears from my eyes)

This was a very beautiful performance of this song. The music is Barry's. He altered the beginning & it's gorgeous. The Words are from the brilliant Enoch Anderson whose lyrics were always tough & realistic about life. I don't know who wrote the words to Goldie's song though. I loved the dialogue at the beginning. 40 years on & I'm word-perfect. Good to see this again! ❤

Tapes doesn't lose image. This tape was recorded at a slow speed. I have beta tapes from 1977 recorded at the SP (fast) speed and the still look amazing. I have this 1982 special also recorded on Betamax tape on the SP speed and it too looks amazing still in 2022!
Get it burned on dvds and sell on eBay. I’d buy!

Barry Manilow was a really good actor. I wish he had been offered a really great role in a movie - he certainly could have done it justice. But he has had such a HUGE music career, maybe I'm being greedy in wishing for more!
I also wish he had grown up at a time when his sexuality was not a big deal. It's sad he couldn't be an openly gay star until he turned 70. But at least he COULD come out - poor Liberace was forced to live a lie his whole life, and tell journalists he just hadn't met the right girl. No one should be ashamed of their sexuality. It's just part of who you are, like your height or sense of humour. It's all good - love is love!
