    The new Toefl test is so bad! I made the test from home. The controller was asking me questions for 40 min. He asked me to remove my speakers! What a idiot. And the test is like a riddle. They try to trick you with the questions…

    Hello, thanks a lot for the valuable content. I'm particularly interested in understanding the differences in the writing tasks, as that's an area I struggle with. In the TOEFL, there are two sections for writing: one lasts for 20 minutes and requires 150 to 225 words, while the other lasts for 10 minutes and requires at least 100 words. On the other hand, in the IELTS, you get 20 minutes to write 150 words and 40 minutes for 250 words. Yet, you've mentioned that the TOEFL is easier, even though it seems like you get more time to write a similar amount in the IELTS. Could you clarify?

    • @juva
      @juva  ปีที่แล้ว +9

      I'm so glad you like it 😀. From my personal experience, I have found that it is easier to get a high score in TOEFL Writing because of the marking criteria. This has nothing to do with the tasks, but with the way the examiners assess your writing. For example, I find that in the IELTS you must use a lot more complex structures to get a high score compared to the TOEFL.

    by the way the scoring system is the same even if you convert on to another except for little differences due to ielts rounding up 0.25s

    Why is no one talking about the fact that IELTS allows you to send your results free of charge to up to 10 schools but with TOEFL its only 4 and then you have to pay to send to other schools beside the 4 youve chosen.
    This is a very important difference that everyone seems to be ignoring. Some international students are applying to more than 4 schools so its not just about the test taking itself that we have to consider. What do you think about the price difference?

    Hi Juva, What's the exact difference between this new TOEFL test and the Essentials TOEFL test ? They look pretty much the same to me… Also, do these tests both provide measurements for the C2 CEFR proficiency ? I know some tests don't go beyond C1 level… Thanks !

    • @cejannuzi
      @cejannuzi ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Essentials veers hard towards more practical English tasks like the Duolingo. The iBT still concentrates on everyday campus life plus academic listening and reading. I think ETS is probably worried that Essentials overlaps too much now with TOEIC while not competing well with Duolingo. But Essentials does cover the same sort of academic English you see on the iBT. And it has speaking and writing tasks. So perhaps the biggest difference is that Essentials is ADAPTIVE, like the Duolingo. It looks like ETS has too many products on the market now. I suspect we will see some streamlining.

    • @juva
      @juva  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The tests differ in their length and in the tasks. I recommend checking which test your institution accepts. The TOEFL Essentials is not accepted by all institutions. If they accept both, it's your choice 😀.

    Does an accent matter when it comes to these tests? For example, if a person is not used to speaking/using American English, should he/she take the TOEFL? Same for IELTS: if one can't speak with an RP accent, should one take the IELTS test?

    • @juva
      @juva  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Both the IELTS and the TOEFL test your English skills, your accent doesn't matter. So your accent should not influence your choice.

    • @fatisummer9106

      It does matter in the listening test, in ietls test they do a lot of number dialogues and the two accent are so different in the way they pronounce numbers,with fast speed of the record , you could end up not understanding a thing

      @@juva I believe that although toefl reading passage is tricky, it can not as hard as IELTS. Because in ıelts, there are at leat 10 different question types. Like heading, matching, summary completion... For me, the hardest in ıelts was finding the correct word from pragraphes. When I searched the best answer I relized that time has passed. But in toefl, question refer the specific paragraph. It says, in paragraph 3..... For me, this makes toefl easier. Of course a personal opinion. Thanks for this informative video...
