- A UNESCO World Heritage Site, the Ġgantija Temples date back to between 3600 and 3200 BC. Join Clare as she explores the temples, considered as one of the oldest free standing monuments in the world, preceding Stonehenge and the Egyptian pyramids.
Pronounced as it's written, the name will certainly sound a lot like 'giants', and there's a reason for that! With megaliths exceeding five metres in length and weigh over fifty tons, giants were believed to have constructed these prehistoric temples!

SUPERB vlog 🚶 🎥. Professionally made & very educational. Clare Aguis you're excellent. "Subscribing" is a must for every Maltese history buff including expats. THANKS.

The official age of the temples of Malta and the first high culture with 4000 - 6000 years is unbelievable.
The C14 isotope method could never be unequivocally assigned to the stone.
That these are the oldest monuments of mankind is since 2000
also no longer credible because of Göbekli Tepe. Archaeoastronomical calculations
at the Mnajdra complex in Malta even suggest that the temples are around 21,000 years old. See also "Das Vermächtnis der Tempel von Malta" by AncientMail Publisher.
