Atreus is pretty bold to expect to not be questioned after disappearing for 2 days straight.

    • @CedonZar
      @CedonZar ปีที่แล้ว +638

It’s more like he didn’t expect it would be a full 2 days of disappearance, which he didn’t even intend on doing in the first place. On top of that he now has to hide the existence of Ironwood and Jotunheim so that it doesn’t get dragged in to the conflict.
So since he feels like he can’t explain his disappearance and his father immediately goes to the worst case scenario, his frustration explodes. Less bold, more teenage emotions imo.

@@fikrikhalish6705 I mean even if he was teleported back to the dwarves' house, 2 days still would've passed. Sure, atreus may not have realized that 2 whole days passed, but he had no reason to believe that time flowed differently in the ironwood, nor did he have any reason to believe that his absence would go unnoticed. Even if everything that happened in ironwood happened in one day for atreus, it was a lot of time spent there, especially for someone whos supposed to just be asleep in their room. I feel like it's partly on him for being so nonchalant about teleporting to a foreign world and not thinking about what was happening in the realm between realms, but also partly on angrboda for not explaining that days will have passed. It was always "you can stay if you want" and not "hey time moves faster here than where you're from, you should know that before you decide if you want to stay longer"

A good touch to show odins manipulative nature is when he transported him to Asgard with the ravens, he could’ve easily sent him to the palace but instead he made him climb the wall and meet heimdall only to tell heimdall to back off and win lokis favor and make him think he’s actually nice

This! I was thinking about this the entire time!
And on top of that, Odin probably knew Heimdall would choose to fight Loki, maybe even counted on it. The fight end up getting him all dirty giving Odin the opportunity to offer clean clothes.
Like imagine if Loki walked in and Odin offered clothes straight away. He probably would have refused or at least been much more hesitant. As that would be a way of 'distancing' himself.
But since Loki was offered a clean pair of clothes opposed to wearing his now dirty armor, it's a kind gesture and he doesn't think about how it further pulls him into Odin's grasp. He wasn't given a choice.
This could be looking wayyy into it lol but it's something i'm honestly in awe of. Odin is masterfully written and as much as I "dislike" seeing Atreus make these terrible decisions as if he *has* to be the only one carrying this burden, I'm really enjoying seeing how this (probably) develops into him "accidentally" fulfilling the prophecy.

It kind of bothers me that many people are forgetting that Atreus' outburst was more than just teen rebellion and naive youthful thinking. He truly was caught between a rock and a hard place- he can't reveal Ironwood because he was sworn to secrecy, and everyone in the room ganged up on him and didn't make me feel safe trying to communicate what really happened. Now granted, Atreus also did a shit show job of explaining himself as well, but Kratos wasn't very trusting to begin with either. On top of that, Freya instigated the idea of Atreus already being in kahoots with Odin into Kratos head. So idk, I think there's definitely a lot of miscommunication and secrecy/some resentment between Kratos and atreus especially around Atreus upbringing, I just hope they can come to an understanding and Kratos won't actually die :((

Agreed, secrecy, lack of trust, and miscommunications along with fear, anger, and other emotions is definitely playing a part in this whole situation. It feels like multiple characters are inadvertently making things more difficult than it needs to be, but I suppose that is a reflection of the current situation. They can't just sit and twiddle their thumbs doing nothing, but the options they do have and the general disagreement between different members of the group is making the situation rather difficult.

i wouldn't say ganging up on him. you have 3 people there who were tortured and abused horrendously by odin, so of course they are gonna have something to say when atreus brings up the idea of going to asgard. do you expect them not to? kratos hid the truth from him, but as far as i can recall, he didn't lie. he never told atreus that he was a mortal, he just didn't tell him that he was a god. that isn't lying. kratos should have told him about the god part but other than that, kratos didn't need to tell him anything of his past imo. that isn't for atreus to know. either way, that stuff was 3 years ago. during those 3 years, atreus went behind kratos's back and investigated the giants and tyr with sindri, never telling kratos about it until he had to. he then turned right around and snuck out to meet jorm and risk death to meet freya behind kratos's back. even after kratos forgave the tyr stuff and told atreus that he just wants him to be honest with him, he does this crap. yes, miscommunication is a problem but i think the biggest problem is that atreus doesn't think things through at all when it comes to anything to do with the prophecy or the giants. he just rushes head first into things blindly and it causes problems. he didn't think about how promising not to tell about ironwood would put him in this position of having to lie to kratos. if he took some time to actually stop and use his head and plan stuff out and think about things, i think a lot of these conflicts could be avoided completely.

In the cutscene where Atreus returns from Asgard to tell about what happened when he freed Garm, the same situation happened where everyone in the group was yelling at him AGAIN and Kratos had to step in and say enough. That was intentional, to reflect on the previous situation again, except Kratos SUPPORTS his son. Kratos whole apology scene was literally about how he needs to listen to his son and trust him more, as well as respect his choices. That's how Odin manipulated Atreus at all, using the conflict between Kratos and his son. I'm not saying Atreus made smart choices or all the blame goes to Kratos and company. He did make stupid decisions. But again, Atreus felt he could not trust his father with the truth, in fear of his reaction. That, to me, definitely signifies there's issues between them that needed to be straightened out.

Having said that I get Kratos trying to protect him. he doesn't want his son to make the same mistake he did. he started a war against Olympus that destroyed his entire home, and killed innocent people that were caught in the cross fire. The thing is I think he isn't focusing on the biggest difference. Kratos fought for revenge, Atreaus wants to fight for a better world for for the relms Odin has enslaved.

Honestly, it kinda bothers me. I think the God of War games portray the mistakes of young (and old) people really well, but using teens and children being dumb and easily manipulated is such an overdone plot point, especially cause I've found the majority of young people don't trust nearly as quickly as most media portrays them to.
Again, I still really like the way these games do it but generally it annoys the hell out of me, that type of stuff in media (and in how adults treat children) gave me a whole fuckin inferiority complex as a kid.

Considering the fact that Atreus grew up in what is essentially a lie of a home, it's not outlandish to think that he would be struggling to get past the fact that he may be more than what his father wants him to be--this leads him to act rather rashly and irrationally in chase of a prophecy he knows very, very little about.

He was definitely acting on impulse like a teenager. Although in hindsight I can see why, Odin's ravens are everywhere, and he can't risk anybody figuring out that the way to Ironwood was via dreaming, or something like that. Especially if that's the only known way at that point in time. It would essentially break Angrboda's trust if anybody knew. Considering Thor is part giant (I think), imagine what catastrophe would happen had he heard that a dream could send you to a distant land, and then the only way back is to focus on home. If Thor could get there, then he would figure out it's Ironwood, and eventually, the last sanctuary for Giants would be gone.

I'm glad Jack took the opportunity to address his teenage audience for a moment. It's confusing and stressful being a teenager, but if there's anything I learned now being an adult, it's that so many problems and issues could've been avoided if I'd just talked to my mom. Seriously, take a deep breath and analyze your emotions and what you want to discuss, pick a good time to talk to your parents, and then sit down and calmly talk to them without involving your own ego. Most parents really do just want to know what's on your mind and when you're a teenager that's when they're having the most difficult time connecting with you.
