Pastor Mark, I am praying about enrolling, but I wanted to know is there a target age range these classes are for? I'm a middle-aged grandma. Is this designed for a younger audience? I have been divorced for 15 years now. The dating relationships I have had since then with other Christians have not been good. I've been to Bible college, and if I'm single until Jesus comes back, I'll be fine, but I always have that notion in the back of my mind that I might be supposed to give it another chance, not leaving any stone unturned. I think God is highlighting my trust, because I was in such a broken relationship with a habitual liar. He lied about small things, like literally he lied about how he got a scar on his head. But anyways I have noticed when just conversing with other guys I can get very triggered and feel like any little thing will make me not want to trust them.

And I got super afraid of moving on and maybe experiencing this kind of pain again. I just told the Lord a couple of minutes ago I don't know how to do it. And You said it! Faith. Faith in Him leading me, directing me, loving me and wanting the best for me. Yep, #2 was something my ex did to me and didn’t show it until a few months down where anything I did was triggering. It was so toxic, I struggled to get her out of my life until God got involved and I got sick and she didn’t care. That was my exit, and went to straight no-contact and removal of that person. People claim to be spiritually healed but not mentally healed and don’t seek therapy to heal those areas of their past. People, please seek help if you are always getting triggered by the person you say you love. Missing this is unhealthy!
Mark, I can totally relate to the 'ticking time bomb' guy. This goes across the board with everyone, especially autistics. I've got a couple different topics that I have shelved as things I'd rather keep between me and God. Thankfully, He is working with me on them, even though they are extremely sensitive to those areas. There have been a couple different times my folks have tried to approach me about them, but I ultimately shut down the conversation.
Being single is inherently hard, but the hardest part of being single is the social ramifications. I've been praying for God to send me a friend. If I'm meant to be single, I can accept it, though extremely sad, but is God saying no to my request for a friend? My church family is in another country and there aren't good churches where I live.

This was really good. I know I needed to hear this. I think there are a lot of saved men who would like to not let those triggers hurt them and the people around them. I really appreciate that you said, we all have them in one way or another. I don't think we admit that. I think women have triggers too, but I think we minimize them because they're women. I think that's a disproportionate view in the Body of Christ that leads to disunity. I think a healthy adoption of the view that both men and women struggle with this one way or another, without unwisely exposing one self to potential emotional or physical harm, is a just thing.

My ex-wife is my trigger, I fall apart whenever I'm near her. I'm moving far away once I graduate from grad school to start my life over somewhere new (like across the world). I believe you only find true love once in a lifetime - that opportunity for me came and went. I'm content with just finding companionship at this point. God had/ has nothing to do with this area of my life - he's made that very clear through leading me into the storm for no good reason.

I haven't dated anyone for 10 years because I was saving myself for marriage. I was so strong and doing so good until a couple months ago, I met this guy that I was really attracted to, next thing, we are kissing passionately, he told me he loved me and wanted to be with me. When I told him I was saving sex for marriage, he still hung around, and called, next thing I know, he didn't call at all. I really liked him so I was hurt. I was hoping he would be the one, but... I now realize I was settling because he was also a muslim, he drinks excessively and smokes stuff and cogarettes and doesn't work. I guess I was to tired of waiting and afraid of getting old, I became desperate. I feel so guilty for allowing him to kiss me like that. 😔 😢

I have a hard time with this because I don't feel dating is biblical. I don't want to date. I want more of an arranged situation. Listen, if you marry the wrong person, God can save the marriage if two people turn back to him. We don't have to be complicated. Looking for wisdom from anyone, including Mark! I feel as though God IS preparing me for a season of dating and I had a lot of peace about a specific guy for a few weeks. As I’ve hung out with this guy more and more (in a group setting with a lot of his guy friends), I still haven’t heard much about his relationship with God and I’m not sure how to feel about it. He has a good character and I feel comfortable around him and he is constantly putting himself in godly community, but I haven’t heard about his relationship with God. He is on the shyer, quieter side, but I’m wondering if I’m being too skeptical about who he is and I need to get to know him more or if he just doesn’t prioritize his relationship with God on his own time. As a very reserved person myself, I naturally won't open up much about intimate stuff in a setting where there are many people. You should communicate with him directly via texting or a maybe phone call. Explain that you've observed certain aspects of his life and you're interested in hearing about his walk with the Lord. Introverted people actually like speaking about these things but they generally aren't comfortable doing so among many people.

I haven't dated anyone for 10 years because I was saving myself for marriage. I was so strong and doing so good until a couple months ago, I met this guy that I was really attracted to, next thing, we are kissing passionately, he told me he loved me and wanted to be with me. When I told him I was saving sex for marriage, he still hung around, and called, next thing I know, he didn't call at all. I really liked him so I was hurt. I was hoping he would be the one, but... I now realize I was settling because he was also a muslim, he drinks excessively and smokes stuff and cogarettes and doesn't work. I guess I was to tired of waiting and afraid of getting old, I became desperate. I feel so guilty for allowing him to kiss me like that. 😔 😢

These points could apply to you. I certainly don't know if God has someone for you to marry but I know God has a good plan and anything is possible
I have a hard time with this because I don't feel dating is biblical. I don't want to date. I want more of an arranged situation. Listen, if you marry the wrong person, God can save the marriage if two people turn back to him. We don't have to be complicated. Two people whose love is for God first shouldn't overcomplicatw things.

I feel as though God IS preparing me for a season of dating and I had a lot of peace about a specific guy for a few weeks. As I’ve hung out with this guy more and more (in a group setting with a lot of his guy friends), I still haven’t heard much about his relationship with God and I’m not sure how to feel about it. He has a good character and I feel comfortable around him and he is constantly putting himself in godly community, but I haven’t heard about his relationship with God. He is on the shyer, quieter side, but I’m wondering if I’m being too skeptical about who he is and I need to get to know him more or if he just doesn’t prioritize his relationship with God on his own time. Thanks for any advice!
Hey, you mentioned that you've hung out with this guy in a group setting in addition to describing him as shy. As a very reserved person myself, I naturally won't open up much about intimate stuff in a setting where there are many people. You should communicate with him directly via texting or a maybe phone call. Explain that you've observed certain aspects of his life and you're interested in hearing about his walk with the Lord. Introverted people actually like speaking about these things but they generally aren't comfortable doing so among many people.

In this video I was more referring to not dating for a season so you can grow in the Lord and heal/grow internally to then date, but certainly God trains us in other ways like through relationships and experiences with others too :)

You can’t date your wife, you would be married to your wife. Until your married you don’t have a wife...and you won’t get married unless you go through some process (like dating, courting, etc). So you could be single forever with that mentality
