  • Learn how to adjust the pre-load of the rear shock of the Sportster Iron 883! Learn the benefits of adjusting the pre-load of your sportster and how much of an improvement it has made for me. If you have not adjusted your rear shocks on your sportster yet, please go take a look at the manual and see if you have the right setting. If not, change it up and see the difference! I think adjusting the preload has saved me from buying aftermarket rear shocks for the sportster for few more rides!

      Adjusted the rears to my 200 lb ass and went from 3 dots to 5 and there's definitely a difference. Stock seat still doesn't help on rides 1hr+. I think also you can go longer if the roads are more technical but if you're just riding mostly upright it sucks sooner.

    I was also a 5 dotter by specs, and it did ride much better. But I just didn’t like the stance when parked so I went back to 3 and just lived with the discomfort lol.

    So if I have 3 dots showing with the spring extended does that mean a stiffer suspension? So the more squatted the spring, the more dots showing the softer it will be?

    • @KSMotoCafe
      @KSMotoCafe  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      the more dots above the ring means stiffer and less means softer suspension. So as a heavier person, you want more dots so it only bounces at higher weight.

    So can this be a cheat to lower my suspension?

    • @KSMotoCafe
      @KSMotoCafe  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      to lower the suspension? no, it doesn't change the height of the suspension unfortunately. It does help with the sag when you put your weight on it - so i guess if you drop the dots to zero, it would sag more but you would bottom out way more often

      @KSMotoCafe  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@lanietesani4518 for the preload - your height won't play a factor and won't increase or decrease the original seat by any noticeable margin. What it is doing is just setting the potential load on to the bike by compressing or decompressing the springs.

      @@lanietesani4518 for two-three dots no. if you changed it to 8-12 dots, you would see an increase - maybe 1 inch? but that will disappear as soon as there is weight on the bike. Which is why it is important for light riders like yourself doesn't have it set for someone that is 200lbs
