    I was born deaf in one ear and, at age 51, with all the people and doctors who know about my hearing, I’m kind of mad that I’ve never heard of this solution until now lol I’m also super excited that it may be an option for me to actually feel normal! As long as it’s financially do-able that is.

    Hi there,
    I am SSD left side due to accident. I had it checked and bought a phonak naida Q30 UP 2016 which helped me a lot but in such a case I didn't wear it due to shame for me to be an SSD. In the long run I realize that I have to accept and live with it for the rest of my life. It's a support that helped me in day to day basis work and social engagement. Yes, it's true hearing aids are so expensive. Some other insurance will not even include, mostly maybe.
    Thanks phonak for the hearing device that you provide.❤

    I live with SSD. I always wonder what it feels like to have 2 functioning ears. I want to experience it but hearing aid is very expensive. So, I guess I’ll never get to experience it.

      Have heard through both ears for 27 years perfectly until I lost complete hearing in left side. With one hearing, it's difficult for the brain to adjust in crowded n noisy environments. It's frustrating for me to focus when too many people are talking. I miss the tone of my own voice, I can tell the difference how it sounded earlier with both ears and now how it sounds with one ear.

    I was recently affected with SSHL on left ear >90db profound loss. My right ear is perfectly normal. ENT said the reason is unknown and condition is idiopathic. I already have autoimmune hashimotos. Please tell whether there is any possibility of my right ear being affected too? How to protect my right side hearing?

    This hearing aid just send all audio to the ear you actually hear from no? So being unable to follow sound is still a thing?

    • @goboss
      @goboss 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      That's correct. There is still no directional hearing. You will hear things on the "deaf" side, but only through the good ear. So the good ear actually gets double the sound.

      it doesn't amplify sound in the deaf ear. it sends the sound via microphone to your hearing ear.

    I became SSD a few weeks ago due to my acoustic neuroma removal operation on my left side. I wonder what kind of headphones / earbuds can we use to better enjoy music and also use in a noisy background to hear people. Any tips?

    • @Boneheadboyfriend
      @Boneheadboyfriend 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I am also deaf in one ear due to an acoustic neuroma. I haven’t had it removed as I am only 21 and it hasn’t grown for a few years now so they say it will likely never grow again (though the uncertainty does cause me anxiety) I also wonder the same thing about earphones?
      In the past I used one wireless earphone for music but I really miss surround sound.

      Yeah, listening to Pink Floyd and such you miss so much because they were experimenting a lot with sounds in stereo. I have never found a good solution to headphones. I just use a single earbud and set the sound to mono.

    • @brianburns7211
      @brianburns7211 ปีที่แล้ว

      They do have ear buds which play both tracks in one ear. I have gone for Cross hearing aids. One feature is bluetooth. I can play my streaming service through them.

    This is a useful video. I’m SSD, but haven’t followed through with any hearing aids. My doctor was pushing me towards BAHA, but it’s too bulky, and would make me look like a freak.
    I have a really have a hard time making appointments. My work schedule is very erratic. Tinnitus is driving me crazy. Hopefully there is an audiologist who can fit me in.

    hello ... does it support to ear that has no hearing at all ..... i mean i have loss my complete hearing on right ear ... was it work for that ???? thanks

    • @JustBeYouooh
      @JustBeYouooh 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      No, it has bluetooth and the sounds on the “bad ear side” goes to the good ear. You wear 2 pieces. One in the good and one in bad.So if your right ear is deaf one, the piece in that ear picks up sound, then it transfers it the good ear piece,which is the left ear. There’s a little wire attached to the ear pieces, that’s bent to enter your ear hole, it has a rubber plug to stop it from falling out. It doesn’t make the deaf ear hear. It’s good for when people sit on your deaf side and speak,cos it then bluetooths the sound to the good ear.
