Where do you think Jimi Hendrix would be if he were still alive today?
Ahead of everyone else. Which is pretty much where he is anyway.
Just to let you know, there is a far superior version of "Machine Gun" from his BAND OF GYPSYS album, which was recorded live at the Fillmore East early on new year's day, 1970. THAT is the version that most are thinking of when we recommend this song.
Σίγουρα μετά τον rory gallagher
@@giorgosboyrnoykas2338 Ο Rory Gallagher είναι πολύ φοβερός
@@davescurry69 Yeah I didn't write down Band of Gypsys, I only wrote down live and didn't realize how long the actual song was. On the plus side, I can do another reaction later on when I circle back to it
@@AceofBadeReacts It's worth it.
The version that is probably requested is Machine Gun live at the Fillmore East off the album Band of Gypsys. That's the iconic 12 minute version.
This is a portion of the 22 minute version from the Isle of Wight, still cool, as is the Berkley 70 version.
Yeah when I was posting about this video on Instagram, I saw 12 and 22 minute songs and realized this was just a snippet. I also didn't write down Band of Gypsys on my list, and that's my bad
It's all good man. There is a recently colorized video of Jimi playing the famous version with the Band of Gypsys at the Fillmore East. I've seen a few people react to it recently. You should check it out, it's 🎸🔥
@@mr.goodenough3796 I'll definitely circlr back to this in the future as a redemption reaction
LOL, Yes! Agreed, you've got the wrong performance. You want Filmore East ! Although, this one is entertaining in it's on way ☮
@@wade8240 Ok I will remember that. Is that 12 minutes or 22 minutes?
The whole cut of this is incredible. This is not the most famous version but I listen to this one the most. Jimi used his frustration with the equipment and crowd who were QUIET after the first few songs to just unleash into this. The whole thing is like 20 minutes long and it's a trip ❤
I think I will react to the full one now that i know there is a full one later on
There is both tiredness and pain on Jimi's face . Heavens door was nearby . THANK YOU Jimi !
How close was this performance to his death?
Very close . This is August , 1970 . He never saw October . John Mayall wrote a song about the situation called ACCIDENTAL SUICIDE . @@AceofBadeReacts
@@AceofBadeReacts Hendrix would die 18 days after this, Isle of wight was his last major performance.
@@BUTTER-oc5gs That's kind of haunting if you think about it
You missed the genius section which is the first half of the song; however, the outstanding version of machine gun is the Filmore East 1969/70 new years eve with his group 'Band of Gypsys'. That night Jimi was from a different universe !
Yeah I heard that this was only a portion of the song. I was planning on revisiting this song in the future
This starts at the solo, but there's a good 4 or 5 minutes that's not shown... and that's f'n mind-blowing also!!! Voodoo Child from this show is insanely different and fantastic too...
Oh I've been told there's a 12 minute and 22 minute version of this song. I'm going to circle back to it in the future
This is my favorite version actually, not that I don't love the BOG one. So he is actually turning the standby off and on On the one amp to get that effect
So you prefer the 4 minute version to the 12 or 22 minute version?
It's actually listed as 22 mins for those "inexperienced "
Really? BOG version was mind Blowing.
I agree it's great. But I like the phrasing of wight better. I'm allowed
Btw he went to go turn the amp up that’s why it made that sound
I've heard mixed answers on what he was doing
He was messing with the amps because he was having equipment problems this entire concert, which was frustrating the hell out of Jimi during this show.✌️
There are lyrics to the song
I can imagine that being frustrating. I just figured he was using the amp as an instrument
@@AceofBadeReactshe was. He was having amp problems as well but at that particular point in the video, he definitely used it as an instrument. He was pressing the tone button in and out and left it at different tone to make the guitar louder. This dude was a complete guitar genius on a mystical level
@@dstu1699 Haha ok good so I'm not an idiot. Between this and the Elvis reaction, I was feeling like I let everyone down today.
@@AceofBadeReacts it's all good. Granted, we all wanted you to react to the Fillmore East, Band of Gypsys version, this version is great too. This version is Actually 22 mins long from Isle of Wight 1970. Words and all... The whole thing is one TH-cam but only the audio. You don't even realize 22 mins pass just like you don't realize 12 mins pass with the Fillmore version
One Hendrix song that doesn’t get enough attention in my opinion is “Red House”. I suggest you check it out 💜👵🏼✌🏼
I don't think I've ever heard it. I'll add it to the list
Well he be 82 years old but Jimi always talked about having a big band I guess like a symphony guitar wise cry of love came out after his death think he would have went into jazz fusion he was suppose to get together with miles Davis it never happened sadly
What could have been
Check out the Band of Gypsys live version
Yes after speaking to everyone and learning that this is the shortened version, I fully plan to circle back to it
Theres a video!!
@@robertdawson8522 for sure. I'm going to do a couple other Jimi Hendrix songs and then come back to it
Jimi the goat this is not an instrumental they started this video bout the 8 minute mark I love this version if you know anything bout Jimi never played song the same master improvised could go on for ever band of gypsy's version is amazing scary thing Jimi was constantly evolving getting better every day scary thought huh,,?
He's an amazing guitarist for sure. I know this is the shortened version from what I've learned, but I didn't know this was the 8 minute mark
Some posters here, with deprecating comments, are trolls. Anyway, the _real_ “Machine Gun” is 12 minutes long, and Jimi’s very best work. You picked the wrong video: next time have someone screen the video for you. The real, complete Machine Gun is a completely different and shattering experience. Thank you! Links below:

Oh yeah we figured that out pretty quick. Multiple commenters pointed it out. I'm going to circle back to it later this year
@@AceofBadeReacts Thank you, and best wishes!
not very good, this is jimi undisciplined, the songs from this period were crap.
What period was Jimi at his peak?
