For the most part, Rocky was speaking nothing but facts.. But do you agree with him? Let's discuss. Follow me on Twitter - twitter.com/BlackySpeakz Follow me on Instagram - instagram.com/iamblackyspeakz/
If you must know I'm actually becoming a rapper myself and I'm called young hockey mask, just like my name you shouldn't really take my raps seriously, I'm only rapping on Soundcloud and I'm only doing it for fun and not for fame, but when I actually get into the rap game I'm going to stop being my fun Persona and change it to Jeff Payne and my other darker Persona skull face, which I do show my talent on Soundcloud but in the rap game, I'll expose and leak out every talent I have in my musical career. And I do agree with you all it takes is to be entertaining and fun, if I put my talented Persona which is Jeff Payne and skull face, sure a lot of people will like it, but they wouldn't like it to the point where they will support it, nowadays this generation just wants something to have fun with, and as I agree with that..but I'd rather have the mainstream talented artists and the lesser known to be people that are fun and hip and turnt ect.
A$ap is speaking 100000% faxxxx. It ain’t even rapping anymore. It’s just saying shit to a beat. Rap in its purest form is poetry over a beat, now it’s just a beat and people talking choppy over it. Hell, you don’t even need a ghost writer, all you need is a hard hitting beat, and a triplet flow.
i dont understand why so many people are pissed over this. there are a lot of people making basic rap music, you can listen to them. if you dont like mainstream artists, dont listen to them. every new artist wants to stand out and create something different and new, thats why theyre not creating just rap. theyre merging many different genres into one. so if you dont like that, then stfu and dont listen to it.
Actually u do u need to study the game and know how to adapt rap is a talent niggas like 69 and lil pump can't rap for shit they jus put some shit together that rhyme with a dope beat that ain't what being a rapper is nigga like Cole, Kendrick, logic, Hopsin, Joyner, em, Jay z, Kanye, Wu Tang, ice cube, nas, pac they all know how to rap they studied they put effort into they adapt to the beats they know how to adapt they flow into it these wack new rappers like lil xan and migos don't put effort into it jus cuz it rhymes don't make it makes sense
2 years later and lil pump is nowhere near as successful as he used to be. It just shows that u can rap without talent.. but if you wanna stay relevant you gotta be talented
I mostly agree with A$AP on the talented artists part; The internet has destroyed the filter of only talented people passing. Its sad because now the real artists get ignored & the ones that are catchy or have good beats get famous. Wack artists have always been around (Vanilla Ice, Puff Daddy, etc.) but nowadays there are more talentless rappers coming out than ever. NOW Im not gonna name call cuz we know who they are! Anyways, to sum it up, i agree with asap believing that the filter to keep talentless artists from becoming famous has disappeared
Alot of "rappers" don't even rap anymore... I having to search for decent rappers nowadays. Until Joyner made that super controversial song he was hella slept on and so are a lot of good rappers, while these trash ass "rappers" who have no clever bars, and just glorify drugs all damn day are famous. It's fucking ridiculous.
It's True Nowadays You Don't Need Skills To Rap Because Ppl Want Lit Beats Or Get Lit, They Don't Care About The Message, Wordplay, Rhyming, Poet, They Don't Care None Of It
Big D I love lyrical rap, but I personally find those rappers you brought up there boring, now just because they are using actual thoughtful lines instead autotune sound degraded lyrics doesn't mean I should like it, their topics are what makes them important, overal they aren't the very best when they are technical with it, people hype rappers such as kendrick and Joey because they are meaningful artists but they never bother to listen to underground rappers, who can rap circles around them honestly, anybody can take time and learn how to be a dope rapper, but being an artist is different, as a mainstream rapper, they are fine because others are in this autotune mumble rap so when you compare them people be like "kendrick the goat, he's lyrical" I would honestly get bored of listening to rappers like joey badass when he's talking about the tough life during his time in the hood, the social injustice of black people, or gangster violance, hey, I just don't relate! I'm a 15 year old surburban Hispanic boy, why do you think I care so much about rap? look at my profile pic for God's sakes, it's that lyrical myrical spiritual bullshit I'm into, songs such as world wide choppers, rap god, necessary evil, is why I like rap, there's only a a few songs from these woke conscious rappers that I prefer, rigamortis for example And yes, I do acknowledge that rap is part of African American culture, so topics such as what I mentioned before are obviously going to be mentioned, nowadays is diverse I get that, i just don't give a fuck about those rappers, knowing there are better talented ones, don't be a sheep
It’s so true it makes me believe that you’re not supposed to have talent in order to make it. The masses don’t care for lyricism in the game cause it would make them think, which is obviously not what hip hop is (according to Post Malone). Mediocre bars and a fire beat are just what people want to use as sort of background music, hearing but not listening. If the “purpose” of hip hop is to make music meant to be ignored, then is the music worth making in the first place?
TCARTR // TheDrumaddictOne that's why having clever lyrics is revolutionary, it made it EVOLVE and not these below plain bars, they just won't accept it and want pure vocal singing, this is a genre of lyrics, if they wanted a beautiful melody sound to their voice while stretching a vowel, they should of listened to any genre, don't be silly
*Honestly man, in my opinion, words like "artist" and "rapper" have lost all meaning. What's the point in bein called an artist now if we got people like lil pump bein called artists who aren't artistic in any way. That's the main problem with rap now, the concept of rap and the use of rhyming and shit to tell stories and to reach out to people has completely been lost cause most mainstream rappers just care about money and fame and it's seriously killed what rap was supposed to be.*
Anaya Smith rapsody shits on cardi b whole career don't make the mistake of ever calling her " the top female rappers in the world" because you make yourself sound dumb
imdontai's right eye I never said she's the most skilled or best female rapper but there is no denying that she is the biggest female rapper in the world right now
Anaya Smith Nicki Minaj has more fame than she does. She is only know because she was on love and hip hop or some shit and that she was a stripper and is with offset. Take all of that away from her she'll be as much as a shadow as we are. And you should really narrow down. If we overseas to like Taiwan or Moscow I guarantee no one will know who she is. If you said country or just North America then it would be a little more acceptable but that was a reach.
He’s 100% right, I’ve seen it first hand the only thing you need is a somewhat decent producer and a decent generic trap beat and bam you got yourself a hit. Anyone can do it tbh and anyone who actually is talented is swept under the rug if it’s not trendy enough. Ffs rap needs a new Kanye West type figure to help transcend the genre and push it beyond all this mediocre shit
I agree cuz nowadays there are rappers who are not talented but are rapping , rappers like : Soulja Boy, Lil Pump, Lanze and Kodak Black are rappers who have no talent but are rapping
Lol I had no idea that you were self aware about the whole "now" thing. I actually like it. It's way better than what a lot of other TH-camrs say frequently. Keep it up bruh
As a retired rapper I personally don't like a lot of the stuff out these days. I think Rocky is right now. You no longer need to be good to sell a product. It breaks my heart watching something I helped build be disrespected and shiyted on by a bunch of goofy no talent hacks
I feel like talent is something that comes natrully to you like your voice or ability to find ryhtems. Though rappers are talented, I think rapping it's self is more of skill that you build on than it is something your natrully good at
man i totally agree with your point that everything comes kinda naturally i mean ..compare it with gaming, like there is no one who is after playing 1-2 years constant something like i dont know..league of legends or something like that even bad you know ? but maybe if you have a handycap like a child voice..thats another point..but even out of that you could start your thing xD
dave east, Vince staples, westside Gunn, don q, Action bronson, joey badass, pusha-t, schoolboy Q, jcole, drake, kendrick, uncle Murda is who im Listening to right Now ...
I like watching this video 1. It’s great in all its right 2.facts3. The FACT that this video the acknowledgement of the #now and then later completely later in every video embrace it is great love this channel
But so many famous rappers don’t have either of those. Pump, Yachty, X, Sky... the only new rapper who uses the new school techniques who can be good is Future, but I would say maybe 65% of his songs are boring, forgettable, and repetitive. Uzi’s only good song is XO Tour Life, but that only happened cuz he got a fun beat that complimented his rap technique. Post has some good songs, but a lot of them are artistically confused. Plus, I disagree with him on that statement about emotion in hip hop so much that I can’t take him seriously as an artist.
Plies is way better than the trash out now, he actually rapped and had some legit bangers, like murkin season, I am the club, kept it too real etc...his new shit is awful though.
He is 100000% correct in regards to today's rap music. Today's rap is only about image and sexuality and nothing else. Just look at Megan Thee Stallion's and Cardi B's song, WAP or Erica Banks Buss It. Two songs that talk about nothing but provocative sexual acts or terms and required the writing skills of a 15 year old highschool boy are now two of the top performing songs in the world now. If you look good, have a nice body and/or rap about sexual things, you will be successful. Now if we're talking about real rap music, like from the 80s and 90s, then yes you need to be talented. I am 100% convinced that 95% of the rap artists today would never make it back in the 80s or 90s.
While A$AP does make a strong argument, I disagree with his viewpoint, with the exception of there's a lot of mediocre rappers. You need to have a degree of talent to rap. It's like what you said about Lil Pump, Blacky. "...the bad thing about having a crutch like this, is that people are going to get tired of it, and when they do get tired of it, people are going to demand more from you, and your fans are going to demand more from you." We need to demand more from rap artists, or at the very least, find rappers that want to give their fans, and listeners, substance in their songs. People need rappers to tell their stories, and struggles, so when we hear it, we can relate to it, while also feeling like we have a voice, and that voice is being heard, too.
I agree some parts with what Rocky said, we got a rapper screaming "Gucci Gang" 200 times and is possibly plutonium but you don't need a ghost writer to write your sh*t if you found a beat that could blow up just mumble you don't even have thing of something just say: I f*ck yo b*tch, I'm rich af I take perks and Molly and smoke all the dope
I saw the ghost writing thing different. I think what Rocky meant was that you dont have to be talented to rap because you could have someone write music for you, I dont think he means that everyone NEEDS one, only if you dont have talent. In reality thats true because you could have a group of people, one writes, one produces, on publishes, and then theres the guy rapping who does the least and gets the most money. Rocky is right.
@LS Diesel I think you missed the point of what we were saying, out of everything they said that's the only thing you got out of that which I wasn't even focusing on the producer part so what the fuck are you talkin about commenting to me, I was focusing on the "ghostwriting" part you know the MAIN part of the comment, STFU before you say something else that's stupid
@LS Diesel and I know very little about the industry, I'm IN the industry... my job is a hook Indie rap artist with big companies such as "Music Promo Today"
I agree with every thing Rocky said nothing but facts niggas spit some shit bars and making Ms while niggas with Hella bars ain getting recognition. Now we gotta get you to 1M by the end of the year my guy.
Regardless of him having the rappers he’s talking about with him or under him, music is still business, he wants to make money so even if I was ASAP rocky I would try and grab some of this new age rappers because there’s money there. And let’s be honest who wants to be broke?
You don’t need any talents at all to be a successful musician. All you need are looks, the right connections, and to practice a choreographed dance routine
He's right for the talent part, anyone can do it, it just takes time and promotion to reach the audience that listens to whatever rap niche you appeal to.
I think A$AP rocky is speaking on behalf of most of the rap game. He's smart enough to know that theres rappers like cozz and a part of the rap game that keeps it real.
We going through a phase where the talentless get the attention. There’s gonna be a time where much more talented rappers will be dominant and prosper🔥💯💯. Don’t worry it’s gonna come, we just have to be patient, discover good music, and support the artists that are talented . 🔥💯💯. ASAP ROCKY one of the best and it’s a damn shame people are sleeping on him when he’s still one of the most important and talented artists in this era. I can’t wait for new music from him😁🙏❤️. Much love to you Blacky for bringing this topic into light. Keep up the good work👌🏿.!!!!
Ya people need to remember that a lot of artists pop for a little moment and disappear then you need a unique flow with a amazing way of life and that's where you got the talent I believe we in a era where rap is known in every little corners so everyone enjoy practicing it Soon something new might come with God will
Question: Are you considered a talented artist (or not) if you make catchy songs? A$AP is right. It's probably frustrating for talented artists who spend their time perfecting their craft (Michael Jackson spent a day choosing clap sounds for "Scream", go figure) and not get recognized for it, while people focus on the next SoundCloud rapper or something. I guess someone should devise a way of sifting through this "noise" cause honestly, we all want to hear the next Kendrick or J.Cole album in the next 10 years, but would you want to listen to Lil Pump for the next 5 years? Music moves *WAAAAAYYYY* to fast and *ONLY* the real, talented artists will stay true to the end, provided they don't give up and do something else.
From an overall perspective, he's right. You don't need pure talent to be a rapper because if you're a person who writes 24/7, rehearses your raps, and record your music, you too can be successful. It doesn't matter about your actual talent. Not a little bit.
I think the only way rappers are winning hiphop is through appearence. I mean, when were talking about relavent artists like lil pump, lil yahty, or even Post Malone, all those guys have face tattoos, distinct hair styles, and a recognizable voice. It don't matter if your music sucks, if people remember you you'll be successful. This is why guys like Desiigner and Kyle disappeared because they sounded too much like other dudes and didn't keep an appearence.
I feel like it depends on what you define as talent? Writing? Cadence? Delivery? Lets take lil pump if we say talent means writing then he is clearly not talented but his cadence, delivery and swagger are insane so he got some real talent there i feel like talent shouldn't just be defined on writing skills it plays a part but music is there to listen not to read
How long does it take you to make videos including planning, writing, research, editing and all of that stuff. Cause you make it seem like you make a video like every other day, you make it seem so easy
If the video is long it can take me up to 6-7 hours from writing notes to actually releasing it. It does take a while though man it's note say at all I'd say
he's right an wrong at the same time if your trying to be a rapper just for the moment then no you don't really need talent in the era of hip hop we're in at the moment but if you want to last an have longevity that requires having talent gimmicks only last but so long
For the most part, Rocky was speaking nothing but facts.. But do you agree with him? Let's discuss.

and alot of people backing you up thats it people get hype when they see a crowd getting lit
alot of these rapperrs dont even write their own songs
Frs i feel but if they do try an write there own music it's rare just like a person singing and dancing an rapping on a song music vid or on stage

Kyle Pickus eh who cares, I’m still into the lyrical technical syllable rhymes, like some bad meets evil or R.A the rugged man type of shit
You don't need to be talented to rap. You do need talent to be a GOOD rapper and go down as a GOAT.
Actually u do u need to study the game and know how to adapt rap is a talent niggas like 69 and lil pump can't rap for shit they jus put some shit together that rhyme with a dope beat that ain't what being a rapper is nigga like Cole, Kendrick, logic, Hopsin, Joyner, em, Jay z, Kanye, Wu Tang, ice cube, nas, pac they all know how to rap they studied they put effort into they adapt to the beats they know how to adapt they flow into it these wack new rappers like lil xan and migos don't put effort into it jus cuz it rhymes don't make it makes sense
i disagree, go visit lil pump page on instagram and you’ll see a lot of dumb ass kids saying that he’s a goat lol
Naw you can work and be just as good as a talented rapper
Wrong.
2 Words. Lil Pump. This should explain the title without even watching the video.
2 years later, i thought you were gonna say "2 Words. Gucci Gang"
2 years later and lil pump is nowhere near as successful as he used to be. It just shows that u can rap without talent.. but if you wanna stay relevant you gotta be talented
And Anthony Fantano gave him a 7 ? So you don't need to be talented to critique music ?
2 years late but... when has anyone ever needed talent for rapping? Isn't it skill and not talent?
@@DjVtheJESUSsouja Lil Pump and MBDTF are misses but most of Fantano's reviews are spot on tbh

*Soulja boy started rapping in 2007*

U need to be talented because we got Lil pump saying repetitive hooks and mumble rappers that u could barely understand.
Yep It's Nicholas Greer that’s Rocky’s point lol rappers like that are making mad money over that crap
Yep It's Nicholas Greer yea you have to have talent to wright your rap and your flows
Anybody can rap, literally anyone. You need talent to make a career out of it.
In order to get famous nowadays just repeat the same words over and over and have a nice beat
Yeah but he's successful. So that kind of goes against what you said. He's successful but he's not talented
I mostly agree with A$AP on the talented artists part; The internet has destroyed the filter of only talented people passing. Most important Element in Rap is the BEAT, a beat producer is what you need
producers are the new rappers. the beat 90% of the song and the vocals are just part of the mix nowdays
Well Rocky is talented and he need to drop an album soon. It can't just be me that miss Flacko.
Krishnan Sen we all do.
It's True Nowadays You Don't Need Skills To Rap Because Ppl Want Lit Beats Or Get Lit, They Don't Care About The Message, Wordplay, Rhyming, Poet, They Don't Care None Of It

jesus fuck its that all the artists you know besides eminem logic and nf?? lmao
We all love uncle blacky
Uncle blacky is for the kids
Parcially agree with Rocky and i got big expectations for his album.
Great work Blacky, #NOWGANG😈
dave east, Vince staples, westside Gunn, don q, Action bronson, joey badass, pusha-t, schoolboy Q, jcole, drake, kendrick, uncle Murda is who im Listening to right Now ...
I like watching this video 1. It’s great in all its right 2.facts3. The FACT that this video the acknowledgement of the #now and then later completely later in every video embrace it is great love this channel
*Just be a one hit wonder*
Just like young MA
But keep that up. Just become a viral artist. If your algorithm works, then you can stay afloat.
Weeb
poor weab
FRG YT
Honestly, I think when it comes to rap, if you have a decent flow and delivery, you can easily blow up (beat aside)
Lmao, the video you said the exact same thing after I sent this
Hahah exactly what I said. Crazy
Kayla. We're talking longevity
Plies proved this 12 years ago lol
chris b MORE PEOPLE NEED TO SEE THIS
chris b dude, facts, that nigga was like the first ever incoherent shit rapper. And he managed to make a hit song with Kodak Black, back in 2017
Plies is way better than the trash out now, he actually rapped and had some legit bangers, like murkin season, I am the club, kept it too real etc...his new shit is awful though.
Ditto for Soulja Boy and Jim Jones. And Diddy (Puff Daddy), Jermaine Dupri, etc. in the 1990's.
Just got into Blacky's channel definitely underrated has a lot of really good points
Aye salute bro!
Watafak is plutonium ninja?
Magnolia
marvinxi15 he ain't retarted pump is trash and the fact that ppl like hearing the same 2 words over and over again on a nice beat makes them trash too
Hes right all you need is a good following and clout.
Can someone make a counter for the word „now“ at every comming video
He is 100% right, but Rocky says this but he takes Playboi Carti under his wing... so hypocritical
Dredell Carti has great flow and knows how to make a damn catchy hook.
Dredell i think that having a friend isnt a bad thing...
Šimun Zuparic its not but it contradicts his point
Signing to ASAP simultaneously helped and hurt Carti. He lost the essence of what made him fye in 2015, but it led to the vibe of his music now.
Keep up the great work Blacky! !😃
Thank you appreciate this :)
BlackySpeakz never stop making these great vids bro
Hell yeah he right these new rappers are the prime example
100% true you can always grow as an artist and even if you don't the media doesn't care you just have to have good beats.
Just subscribed. I’ve been watching your vids for 2 months, and I really enjoy your content. Keep it coming!
Thanks bro you're awesome!
Let's have a discussion about this
There’s talent involved in the good artists, this is how you can differentiate them from eachother
dope as always bruh
I love your videos! Keep it up!
:)
Rocky and Joey be bringing them facts to light!!!
3:09 what song is this?
4 years later he is correct
I saw the ghost writing thing different. I think what Rocky meant was that you dont have to be talented to rap because you could have someone write music for you, I dont think he means that everyone NEEDS one, only if you dont have talent. In reality thats true because you could have a group of people, one writes, one produces, on publishes, and then theres the guy rapping who does the least and gets the most money. Rocky is right.
I know 3 yr late but I agree that's what I was thinking
@@deadplthebadass21 Producers get paid the most. You both know little about the industry.
I mean look at Yahty and Lil Pump
Cj Dalton yatchy is talented
Tami Oriade eh sorta
Cj Dalton at least yachty tries to be versatile with his music and says shit in his song that isn't repeating itself
Jay V I completely agree I like Yahty to but I don't think hes really talented
Check out mase in 97.
you don't have to be talented but you need to know how to move around, how to network with the right people and making the right business decisions.
He’s right he was trying to say it nicely but most new rappers aren’t talented at all it’s all image and ego and not so much about the art
I agree with every thing Rocky said nothing but facts niggas spit some shit bars and making Ms while niggas with Hella bars ain getting recognition. Now we gotta get you to 1M by the end of the year my guy.
Great video
Sooooo this wasn't common knowledge🤔🤔🤔🤔
Regardless of him having the rappers he’s talking about with him or under him, music is still business, he wants to make money so even if I was ASAP rocky I would try and grab some of this new age rappers because there’s money there. And let’s be honest who wants to be broke?
This is sadly so true all u need it’s a hype beat and that’s it,dosnt matter if it’s lyrical
You don’t need any talents at all to be a successful musician. All you need are looks, the right connections, and to practice a choreographed dance routine
Asap was at a fashion show when he made that comment.
He's got his skill set and interesting unique taste, but he needed his crew. ASAP mob is really the force. They needed each other coming up.
Can you do a video on TAPZ and/or Asap Rocky?
I don't think Lil Pump knew how to build a fanbase nor how to rap in general he just did it and everything came by itself which is mind boggling to me
We going through a phase where the talentless get the attention. There’s gonna be a time where much more talented rappers will be dominant and prosper🔥💯💯. Don’t worry it’s gonna come, we just have to be patient, discover good music, and support the artists that are talented
.
Who can name me a video where he doesn't say now
Ya people need to remember that a lot of artists pop for a little moment and disappear then you need a unique flow with a amazing way of life and that's where you got the talent
I believe we in a era where rap is known in every little corners so everyone enjoy practicing it
Soon something new might come with God will
Question: Are you considered a talented artist (or not) if you make catchy songs?
Tony Lancer
Lil pump is a rapper
J. Cole is an artist
Hey can you review the beautiful and the damned by g easy would love to hear ur opinion
I fakn Love asap
he's dope
My lord got it right, like always. #ALWAYSSTRIVEANDPROSPER
You don’t have to have talent to rap, because producers pick up the slack. Producers are the unsung heroes of the genre
Saying Now 3 times in a video! Is that a record for Blacky? #nowgang
Great vid man
From an overall perspective, he's right. You don't need pure talent to be a rapper because if you're a person who writes 24/7, rehearses your raps, and record your music, you too can be successful. It doesn't matter about your actual talent. Not a little bit.
Thank you
I think the only way rappers are winning hiphop is through appearence.
He ain't lying
Sup bro can you make a vid on Chief Keefs influence
Absolutely bro
BlackySpeakz Thanks bro because it’s actually really crazy he set the wave for every new rapper
He's right. It didn't just start with mumble rappers... It been this way.
Rocky is a legend 🔥
The main key to success in rap game is production
Everyone praises A$AP Rocky when he says this but when Post Malone said this y'all shit on him lmaoo oke
DTrXdeniz
Post is a industry plant and hes trash compared to Flacko
marvinxi15 yes but explain how it pertains to this
he's right an wrong at the same time if your trying to be a rapper just for the moment then no you don't really need talent in the era of hip hop we're in at the moment but if you want to last an have longevity that requires having talent gimmicks only last but so long
