    "for the one who saw the king already, THIS is proof that timothée is clearly one of the best actor of his generation. see how his voice, body language even his gaze are different from the role of king henry V? that's acting! I'm so proud of him".
    This is a comment from another video that someone said about this talented man and I couldn't agree more.
    It amazes me how talented Timothée really is.
    Proud of him, Oscars.

    what sucks is most studios probably wouldn't have green-lighted a film like this because it's not a tentpole BILLION dollar movie. I'm glad films like these can find a home on Netflix at least

    • @dasit1965
      @dasit1965 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      It’s also not action driven, which for a movie that takes place in this time period means most studios won’t make it

    How different is Timothée Chalamet from his character in The King is jus amazing. How he deal to change completely to portray someone, that is what being an actor means.

    Wow, when I watched the film for the first time recently, I fell in love, and I thought "What a dark, haunting soundtrack. So transporting and evocative of the late medieval period, and yet it would be just as at home in a grim-dark sci fi film set in the far future." - Then to actually hear Nicholas Britell say basically that was his intention is really refreshing, he's excellent at creating imagery and effectively communicating with his music. Anyone who hasn't seen The King should definitely watch it. This and Dune are my favourite films in years. Also have to mention, I had no conscious exposure to Timothée Chalamet prior to either of them and now I would have to say I'm an avid fan.

    i don’t bout others but I actually wasn’t attracted to him looks-wise and I also didn’t get the hype back then when he blowed up the internet. he was just an American actor like the others to me which was why I had no interest in him whatsoever. But 2 weeks ago I decided to watch CMBYN when I scrolled through Netflix and oh boy, I fell right there for him. Now I’m obsessed, I’ve watched all the movies he starred in, binged all the interviews and podcasts here on yt and currently in a crisis cos there’s literally nothing more to watch.

    Netflix has too many contenders this year, so they are not really pushing The King, but in the good old day, this intelligently updated Shakespeare play Henry V mixed with semi-historic drama is classic filmmaking, and should be a serious Oscar contender across board including BP, BD, Screenplay (most deserving imho), BA (Chalamet), BSA (Harris and Edgerton), Original Score, CD, PD, Cinematography and possibly BSActress (LR Depp). I hope it's not completely overlooked by the Academy this award season.

  • @AbcDef-ww2gy
    @AbcDef-ww2gy 4 ปีที่แล้ว +48

    I've seen The King. It's a great film which has something important to say, but it changes so much from the original that Shakespeare purists are bound to be upset. Therefore don't expect it to be at the Oscars, but expect Timothee to get a Best Supporting Actor nomination for Little Women.

    It really bothers me about Timmy being concerned about his contrast to Laurence Olivier. He and Olivier are two entirely different actors. I am older and grew up watching Olivier and I can tell you that I was impressed with Olivier's 'polished' degree of acting and his thorough command of language in a movie. Olivier was a rhetorical master.
    But Olivier lacked Timmy's beautiful deep and marvelously expressive screen charisma. Timmy can express more emotion in a few words than Olivier could in 50. So Timmy should not feel he needed to 'challange' Olivier's approach to perfoming in order to produce a beautiful and great performance of his own.
