Sacrifice is a real-time strategy video game published by Interplay Entertainment in 2000 for Microsoft Windows platform. Developed by Shiny Entertainment, the game features elements of action and other genres. Players control wizards who fight each other with spells and summoned creatures. The game was ported to Mac OS 9.2 in 2001.
Unlike many of its contemporary real-time strategy games, Sacrifice places little emphasis on resource gathering and management. There is no system of workers; the players' wizards collect souls to summon creatures, and their mana-energy for casting spells-constantly regenerates. Players customize their attacks by choosing from spells and creatures aligned to five gods. To defeat an opponent, the player's wizard sacrifices a friendly unit at the opposing wizard's altar, thereby desecrating it and banishing the enemy wizard. Aside from a single-player campaign, Sacrifice offers a multiplayer mode, in which up to four players can play against each other over computer networks.

My Dad and little brother and I have been talking about this game and trying to remember the name of it for LITERALLY TEN FUCKING YEARS AND TONIGHT WE SOLVED THE MYSTERY IT FEELS SOO GOOD
I remember playing this game but I did not speak english at the time and couldn't understand a thing of what I was doing. Still liked it. I might need to do a full playthrough soon.
We had Sacrifice at our city common-room and we were playing it in the 00s. I also lost the title and it popped into my head after around 20 years.

One of the best games ever made from that time! Simple yet challenging. Amazing characters and soundtrack. One of those rare gems. I always wanted a sequel for it but I guess it would be nothing like this original beauty.. One of the few games I actually ever finished multiple times..

@@kotjietka2136 You mean to relive it? Yeah always an option. But for me the game was always about the story arc and the characters even though I love the game mechanics. I actually got it again recently and played it again for several hours on GOG. But it just ain't the same anymore. At some point you just know all of the game mechanics. There are experiences that belong to the present and there are those that belong to the past. This one is the latter.
@@kushan7182 yeah I think I did too lol. Just to see how the different gods react differently. And the voice acting and music was so crisp and on point. I can't forget about it. What a big tiny gem of a game! ;) Makes me even more happy to have played it knowing that so few people know about it! Maybe that makes the game more appealing in some way even! Haha

The voice acting in this game is incredible, particularly the gods in the over-world. One of the best games ever made, under appreciated for sure.
early 00's Interplay games were so damn artistic. This game and Evolva , Giants Citizens of Kabuto, Messiah, and both MDK games were some of their very best. Evolva is like this game but like Spore. Such amazing games, I miss this pc game era.

Holy crap. Been trying to find the name of this game forever. I played the shit out of it when I was like 7-8 and couldn't in my adult life remember anything about it except that you summon stuff and fight and what it vaguely looked it. I can't believe I found it.

to this day, one of my favorite games!, when it comes to gameplay mechanix & overall fun playing it. specially the fact that you can align yourself with differnt god to get different creature to summon was amazing back then & gave soooo many gameplay variations, it was fantastic!
true shame we never got a remake/reboot of this .... same with BattleZone & Freespace! best games ever! (imagine all of these old games in UE5 or something, how glorious that would be)
After DOOM the next game in an 'open' environment which got my attention was Descent. Since you mention what we all want, sometimes there are games close enough - I've been playing Everspace2 and it 'feels' like Descent but in space instead of a cave network with some basic rpg/looter elements but I use the same skills in combat which I learned in Descent.
Yep, this is probably my favorite game of all time. Remake would be incredible.

Vermithrax. I beat this game 8 ways from Sunday and it was a gem. The tactics and pace were amazing.
u could command your army or units to follow your character so u dont have to keep selecting them and point them to attack. they wod be your body gaurds.

You can't play. Where is manahorses near you? That's why you have low on mana. Why you not use command "Guard me" for everyunits? Etc

I love this game... was really good fun.. i remember thinking the graphics at the time, was amazing, I think this game was even before bump mapping came out.. GeForce 3Ti or was it the GeForce 5Ti...... would be great to see a re-make or a sequel... hanks for the Nostalgia... but I've seen it on GOG 👍🏻

Does this method cut off some elements outside the 4:3 aspect ratio? I remember trying it in widescreen with a hex regedit years ago and many things like units outside of the normal 4:3 aspect would disappear which made it somewhat odd to play since you couldn’t actually assume nothing was between the 4:3 and 16:9 aspect ratio field of view.
how can you make this game work. I am almost getting crazy. it crashed at startup with a black screen. steam and gog both not work.
