I really enjoy these server videos, keep it up. I know it's a weird thing but I have built a cardboard box server, worked well until the chipset burned out.
Will there be a follow up video on this rack install? Do you wear ear protection in that server room its crazy loud even through a video i'm sure its double as loud in person. Silly question that IBM that keeps killing drives in 1 of your other video's has it died again yet? So you may want to let them know that for a video server they should be using WDC Purple drives. I also don't like the look of the GEN 9 HP Proliant server line. G6/G7 I thought were very nice looking.

For example would you be able to mount a HP, Dell or SuperMicro servers on any standard 19" Chasis? Anything to watch out for if I were to mix different brand of servers for home or small office?

If ever there is a situation where you need to boot from a rescue DVD, how would one proceed. It seems on most of the 1U or 2U racks, no one installs any DVD bays. Or is it that most have moved on to USB? Do you have any preference. Thanks once again for posting these videos. I plan to watch all of these videos. Hey Morten! I just had do unmount old DL380G9s that was being decommissioned.... Those friggin things were heavy... Dual socket 128GB ram haha... Worst things is that the railing kits were stuck in the rack. The lever didn't work and uhh I used a flathead screwdriver :P btw did your DCs get Gen 11 yet? Awesome video man.

Do your workplace use any kind of IP address management (IPAM) or data center infrastructure management (DCIM) tool? I'm wondering because you had trouble in the video to find open rack space where you could mount the servers. Keep up the good work.

Ever thought of using something like digitaloceans netbox project? I think it whould make it alot easier for the management of the racks and equipment.
Thank you. I will never look at them little bag the same as before. You're like the 9-11 of the small dry bags in server boxes. We looked at the little dry bag a certain way before, then your video came and we never looked at the little dry bag the same .. ever again
I don't like to spend a lot of time in my server room because it is to cold (strong air-condition) and it is too noisy. Just do what I have to do and run away. I am rarely there 99% is remote desktop job. I usually write software and do network (last 20 years) and technicians do installations but sometimes have to go in server room. Last time I was there I saw a few old decommissioned Proliant tower servers, I suppose in working condition but have to ask coworker. Great cases but old hardware inside, anyway I am still thinking of getting them.
Those servers are very heavy. A bit of a random question, have you every dropped a server whilst installing or removing a server in the datacenter before? if so what was the outcome? did you get a warning? Just curious :)
Hi For 2U servers these are really light... the DELL 2950 is heavy as hell. I have never dropped a server or broken one. I have by mistake turned off a VMware host with 50-100 running servers. I was not proud of that. But as long I do not do bad stuff on purpose, management is still more worried of my well being, the a pich of hardware with a lifespan of 4-5 years. Is this like a data center they people can colocate at but you send them the servers and install them for them and then just give them the ip and login details? Ugliest cable management I've ever seen, especially on the FOCs, that's unprofessional and just increases maintenance times drastically, because you don't know were the cables are running to. At least it doesn't prevent the air flow in that specific case.... On the other hand thank you for this deployment video.

Ahh the rails where the release does not work very well,, and you have to get something in behind to push the metal in so you can get the out...

How do you know what rails to buy? i find so many diffrent model nr's for my dl380 G8.
It´s not easy,, but the standard ones fits for most racks.

Silicone jell packs, do not eat. I will trust them on that! Good idea! Probably doesn't taste too good.

It is way too much for here. But for India I do believe it a good plan. I pay about 1500 Inr. for a 50/50 mbps. But I know that Internet is bloody expensive in India.

It is for sure time to upgrade if you have not done so by now :-)
@@MyPlayHouse its a playing server. Its still works well. I got 4 of them for €110 5 a 6 years ago so its also my rack blackets to fill the rack

Ugliest cable management I've ever seen, especially on the FOCs, that's unprofessional and just increases maintenance times drastically, because you don't know were the cables are running to. At least it doesn't prevent the air flow in that specific case....
