When this first came out, my daughter was living far away. I called her and told her to listen to it... she called me a few days later and thanked me for causing her to break down sobbing in a store.
as a "children", my mom used to sing this to me and my sister when we were kids. its like listening to her for me when i need it. trust me, it hits those children just as hard, if not harder.
This was one of my 4 daughters' graduation song.......and she danced and danced literally. And she gave faith more than a fighting chance. She's married with 3 beautiful daughters......and they dance
Mr Taylor I know this is old now but i read the comments and didn't see if anyone commented that the backup singers are the Desert Rose Band.Leann is awesome an gorgeous but the guys have some great stuff themselves.!
Your emotional reaction was because of the profound nature of the lyrics. Kudos for being open enough to show that you were affected. It humanizes you as well as proving your ability to not just understand but also to feel powerful songs like this.
That’s the song you send your graduating seniors out in the world with. I know I sent my daughter thousands of miles away to school and I used to cry every time I heard this and I know she did too
What a beautiful song… I met her, my daughter was sick & couldn’t go so I went for my daughter & met her & got her autograph on her this CD 💿. She was Very nice ✌🏻& 🤍☀️
The first time I heard it, I cried & knew I wanted it sung at my funeral, specifically for my grandson’s & hopefully any great grandchildren I’ll have.
Lovely song. Those are her daughters in the video. I had cancer when my son was 9 months old and I had this song and Rascal Flatts song"My Wish" on a list to be played for my son if I didn't make it. Thank God I am still here and my son is now almost 22 years old. So you next reaction should be "My Wish". Love your channel. You do a great job reacting.
I use to sing this my daughter when she was little. Now she is about to graduate from graduate school. I want her to fly and love life and experience so much. If you want to hear another one similar you need to hear Martina McBride “in my daughter’s eyes”
My grandmother (born 1908) upon graduating from teacher's college took a road trip with her friends. Driving from New Jersey to Ohio along Lake Erie which for "young ladies" back then was pretty bold. My father told me that she told him to go explore, get out of this small NJ town that there's more to life, that if he wanted come back he always could but at least he would have experienced other places & people. My father did just that & eventually raised us kids just around the corner from the towns he & our mother grewup. I thought I would live there my whole life, til 15yrs ago. While on vacation I looked at my young wife & on a whim asked her, why dont we move? The rest of that vacation was spent researching our 550mi move away from everything & everyone we knew, away from the comfort of security to some place we'd never been 3.5hrs from where we were vacationing. 12yrs after that, on a whim moved to the very beachside community that sparked our move all those years ago. And yes, standing there on the beach or on the rocks of the jetty I still feel small standing beside the ocean.
There are so many great female voices in country music and to those already mentioned, I would also add, Mary Chapin Carpenter, Deana Carter, Terri Clark, Sara Evans, Nanci Griffith, Emmylou Harris, Faith Hill, Wynonna Judd, Alison Krauss, Patty Loveless, Natalie Maines, Linda Ronstadt, Shania Twain, Chely Wright and Trisha Yearwood, plus a few others that I have not remembered right now.
The message of the song is as deep as it is beautiful. An emotional reaction to a song just shows that you felt what the song writer and singer wanted to convey. As always, lovely reaction!
Great to watch your reaction and comments about your children. This was released in 2000. Lee Ann has been around quite awhile. You ought to check out her most recent music. My favorite artist. Her musical journey has been exciting to witness.
The message is stirring. The song is beautiful indeed. The lines toward the end, sung by the Sons of the Desert are especially profound. As always, I enjoyed seeing you react. Any parent would be touched by this one.
My mom gave me this as a single cd inside a booklet that had the lyrics throughout the pages. I have always treasured this even though I could never get the cd to play. It still brings us closer together anytime it comes on the radio
It was on the top of the country charts for while a bout a decade ago. Great reaction ... it's pretty deep especially when you have children. She is an amazing singer, that's for sure.
I was young listening to it, now I'm playing it for my 3 month old daughter and found this. It is an beautifully emotional video especially if you have or want children.
I feel this is one of the greatest songs of all-time---I'm talkin' right up there with "He Stopped Loving Her Today" and "Coal Miner's Daughter"!!! I would always get hopelessly choked-up listening to this song, when it first came-out; so, it was so touching seeing you get choked-up, too!! You know a man is a special man---a sensitive man---when he smiles, so broadly, at the sight of kids, that aren't even his own; then, I think it was when she sang "I hope you still feel small when you stand beside the ocean", the first time, that really took you out!! ❤ Great reaction---great heart (yours)!!!
Yes… Her voice is powerful, but the message is also so important…the combo is intense. Inspiring, but emotional. My fave by her, besides this one, is probably The Fool.
Thats is such a beautiful song, and I the way she had both her daughters we're their, to me it felt like she was taking to her girls about life in general, Thank You for your reaction 💗 I loved seeing it touch you like it do,hope you and your family have a blessed day 🙏 much love from Lafayette Georgia 💞
I remember driving in my car the first time I heard this on the radio about ten years ago…I too was inspired and had tears in my eyes. Yes, it affected me too.
“Promise me that you'll give faith a fighting chance, And when you get the choice to sit it out or dance.” This is the most beautiful and positive song ever! I have 2 daughters, and as a parent we all wish the best for them! Lee Ann Womack looks stunning and if I’m not mistaken those girls in the video are her daughters!! Love it!! Awesome reaction! Keep up your great work !! ❤️
I have very much enjoyed watching your reactions. From one veteran to another…no shame to get emotional. This one was tearing me up too. Keeps us human. This is a wonderful song! Think about Diamond Rio…I Believe.
Your baby blues win out. I recommended this song as I'm sure many others did because it was such a huge hit. She is stunning and her voice is so beautiful. On a much lighter side and a song with humor check out her "l'll think of a reason later".
this song...is my mother talking to me. she used to sing it to my sister and me when we were little...and she still shares it with us on facebook atleast once a year. i still tear up when i hear it. i appreciate this song so much, because i know even when my mom is gone, if i ever need to hear from her, i will always have this song to turn to. this, and my dads song to me "time" by pink floyd, i always turn to them when i feel like i might be losing my way, and need to refind myself.
I'm so glad you reacted to this song. And yes those are infavt her daughters. That made the video even that extra special bevause it's like a song any loving parent would sing to their child giving them advice and wishing them the best in life and telling them to never give up. My late mother and I instantly fell inlovw with this song when it first came out. This was our song. And sometimes when we would sing karaoke, mama would sing this song and dedicate it to me. And I was quickly losing the Will to live. I even dreamed often of my own death and each tike I did I felt freedom and peace. To finally be done done this world and be with my mother again. But I'm a Christian. So my hands were tied. Bevause my life belongs to God, and I cannot take my own life in my own hands to end my own emotional pain that I still feel after all these years. But I can thankfully find strength in God to help me overcome my grief and sorrow. He has helped me to leaen how to live with the many scars on my heart. My relationship with God has saved my life. It beings me to tears when someone genuinely enjoys this music. just wanna say I love your reactions because they are so genuine not bs. Thank your for listening and reacting to some of the greatest songs especially the country songs!!! I really enjoy these
This is most definitely a powerful song, for me it drowns out the harmful words of my youth at one point or another I was always told, I would never be loved or amount to anything, i was worthless or insignificant... there was a time in my life that I lost that sense of wander and i stopped " dancing" and believing in myself and from time to time those thoughts or emotions come crashing through, but i am still here fighting the fight
Years ago when I first fell in love with this song I too was touched at the words "I hope you still feel small when you stand beside the ocean"... The ocean does it to me every time. I think it is how I know I'm a spiritual being first. Why is it that feeling small and insignificant makes me feel hopeful and safe? I think it is in the knowledge that our surroundings are by design and not happen stance. The ocean is so powerful and constant that my little problems whatever they may be, suddenly gains perspective on what is really important in this world and my problems fade away and I leave the shore with a new awakening and a new state of grace. This songs immediately puts me in a state of grace and that is what the tears are. Thanks for sharing your vulnerable moments with us. You are here for a reason, you opened this channel for a reason and you have only begun to find out why. Enjoy the journey and the moments of grace.
When this first came out, my daughter was living far away. I called her and told her to listen to it... she called me a few days later and thanked me for causing her to break down sobbing in a store.
When this CD came out my mom sent my sisters and I each one and said listen to "I Hope You Dance." Same thing happened to me 😂❤
A song that hits all parents.. the wish for our children.
as a "children", my mom used to sing this to me and my sister when we were kids. its like listening to her for me when i need it. trust me, it hits those children just as hard, if not harder.
Exactly.
This was one of my 4 daughters' graduation song.......and she danced and danced literally. And she gave faith more than a fighting chance. She's married with 3 beautiful daughters......and they dance
It makes you emotional bc its what you want for your own children. I cried the first time I heard it. This song is what I want for my son. He's 25 now
I cry everytime I hear this. They played this at my daughter's high school graduation.
Mr Taylor I know this is old now but i read the comments and didn't see if anyone commented that the backup singers are the Desert Rose Band.Leann is awesome an gorgeous but the guys have some great stuff themselves.!
Yes that’s her ex singing backup and their oldest daughter in the video. ❤
She is one of the best female country singers. This song always hits me....
I cried every time I heard this on the radio, and have never seen the video. How can anyone NOT cry? So touching and gorgeous. Thank you!
So glad you are enjoying the best of country music. So many people are missing out by not listening to it. Thanks for the reaction.
Your emotional reaction was because of the profound nature of the lyrics. Kudos for being open enough to show that you were affected. It humanizes you as well as proving your ability to not just understand but also to feel powerful songs like this.
"time is a wheel in constant motion. Always rolling us along. Tell me who wants to look back on their years and wonder where those years have gone?"
This is the appropriate reaction, especially from those of us with young children. Beautiful song.
It’s emotional because it gives out hope and hope is one of the three greatest emotions.
This has the effect on a lot of us. I play this quite often. It is such a wonderful and beautiful song.
I'm glad I'm not the only grown ass man crying.
My son works for LeeAnn occasionally! She's a beautiful lady & those are her daughters in the video!😊 This is my favorite of all her songs!
I use to sing this my daughter when she was little. Now she is about to graduate from graduate school. I want her to fly and love life and experience so much. If you want to hear another one similar you need to hear Martina McBride “in my daughter’s eyes”
This was mine and my mommas song we would sing it together . we played it at her funeral last month
Rest in peace my beautiful butterfly mom 🦋

In my opinion, Lee Ann Womack has one of the best voices in country music.
Her and Jennifer Nettles are wayyyyy underrated.
I agree, Martina McBride and her are the best when trying to convey emotions in the era they came from. Love it!
Same with Leann Rimes!!! These women were all my idols, learned a lot from their music ❤️
One of my favorites. Love it. I have two grown daughters myself.
These are her 2 daughters. It wasn't planned but so glad it happened. So sweet ❤️
I played this for my daughter at her highschool graduation party.
The message of the song is as deep as it is beautiful. An emotional reaction to a song just shows that you felt what the song writer and singer wanted to convey. As always, lovely reaction!
I have heard this many times and I am sitting here crying.
Beautiful. Just beautiful!

Played this at my sons high school graduation...for every parent; we just want them to live🥰
My mom gave me this as a single cd inside a booklet that had the lyrics throughout the pages. I have always treasured this even though I could never get the cd to play. It still brings us closer together anytime it comes on the radio

I had forgotten how beautiful this song was.
Pulls on yeah heart strings this song

I heard/read somewhere that the baby took her first steps while filming this video . If you have kids (as I do) this song will make you emotional 😀
When my mothers health started to fail and she died back in 2013 when I was 26 years old.
Mama worried for me because she knew how very close we were and how much her death would effect me.
And she did have reason to worry. Bevause she was my greatest love besides God himself, plus she was my best friend and comrade. Amd my home.
Amd when I lost her I felt orphaned and alone.

It was also hard losing my Grandmother "Gran" in 2014 because she was like a 2nd mother too me.
And in 2020 I lost the last 2 closest relatives of mine simce birth.
So now ALL my family is in Heaven.
If I was not married, I'd truly be alone.
But I found strength in God through the HOPE I have found in him that to be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord.

So I've let God be my reason to live now.
I love to serve him and preach his Gospel and tell people about Jesus because I know that a life and a afterlife without God is a fate I would not wish on anybody.
This song I Hope You Dance reminds me so much of my mother and I.
Because I am infavt a singer, a musican and all throughout my life since I was a child and on up, I grew up in theater, took dance classes, I've been in ballet, jazz and tap.
And my mother was always my biggest supporter.
She believed in me even when I didn't always believe in myself.
So she told me, that when she is no longer hear to tell me these things. To listen to this song and know that each word is coming from here from Heaven. That she will be watching over me until we can be together again.
My mother and I were very very close. So close infact that we did not want to be separated even in death.
What I mean is, we wanted to be buried together.
So when I was 14 years old, mama and I had talked and we seem to both feel the same way about wanting to be buried together.so whoever went first would get cremated and their urn would be buried with the other.
Well my mother was a 35 years older than me and she health started going down when she was 49 years old.
She died 1 day before her 60th birthday.
I did infact have her cremated but before that I rented a casket and did my mothers makeup and gave her a viewing and service so people could see her one last time.
My mother didn't know I would do that.
I assume she thought she would be cremated and probably have a service with the urn present orsomething.
But no, I made her service extra special and I sang a song that she and my Gran and I loved to sing together in church.
It's a song that best described our feelings and our wishes to our still living loved ones what we wish if they should pass away or if we happen to pass before them.
It's a beautiful song and I sang it for my mother at her funeral.
And everybody loved it.
It's a Southern Gospel song.
I'm a country girl from Alabama.
I grew up on this music and Country but also listened to pop and rock etc.
This song is called, "Let's Meet By The River" by the Spencers
Here is the link to it below...
The sound quality is best in this video.
I hope you enjoy it. It's a very beautiful song.

" the fool" is also so dang good by leeann 👍🥰
The lyrics are absolutely beautiful.
Years ago when I first fell in love with this song I too was touched at the words "I hope you still feel small when you stand beside the ocean"... The ocean does it to me every time. I think it is how I know I'm a spiritual being first. Why is it that feeling small and insignificant makes me feel hopeful and safe?
