I might have to get back into it again because I recently watched Parks and Rec which is filmed similarly and liked it..and so maybe I wasn't at the right age when I first tried to watch the US Office.

The UK Office is a true classic. The US Office is also a classic, and UK should be happy the re-imagining of Ricky's show was such high-quality. You don't have to choose one over the other.

The American version of The Office is very good. The first season, they tried to replicate the British Office and it just didn't work. After that, they gave it an American twist and it took off. I don't know what episodes you saw of course but watching only two of the many that were produced isn't really a good sample, especially if you watched the first season which wasn't really American in style.
Don Rickles was the Featured "Roaster" for years, when celebrity roasts were on network TV semi-regularly. He's an insult comic. He had a decent movie career and several TV shows. He was OG "Rat Pack" adjacent, being tight with Frank and the boys.
As an American, as I found out when I was younger that most American shows were based off of British or Swedish ones, I found myself preferring the British versions. I stayed on BBC America. I refuse to watch the American version of Shameless. Love Luther and so many others. Cause I have a dry sense of humor and like quick quips, I love the late night stuff there to like Graham Norton. I feel my British and Scottish heritage wins out for me for entertainment. 😂

I don't know if you have ever watched the Original British version, but it really is amazing!! I began watching the Original a long time ago, before the US version even became a thing. I definitely would suggest it! You'll really love it!

Honestly as a person that hates the Jim and Pam arc, first 5 seasons of Office are strong for greatest tv comedy from the writing to the directing. Steve leaves season 7, 2 more seasons follow. Unless you like ending storylines, last 2 aren’t so great understandingly so. Steve carried so hard for that show in its infancy tho

The American office is a great show. I saw the British office first and loved it but when I tried the American office I hated it at first. The first few episodes they tried to copy the British office but by season 2 it became its own show and awesome from there on. Just plow through the first few episodes to learn the characters and enjoy season 2 onward. Think the first season is like 6 episodes and they really didn’t have it figured out yet.

The first season of the US office is a bit naff but once the show finds its footing its great.
