He should try the slow songs like this again. He kills it beautifully
These songs didn’t pay him. The commercial hits do. That’s why they call it selling your soul.
@@ashj0 He writes what he feels and what he wants and cares nothing about commercial success, he is driven by himself and is not a sellout or a sell your soul kind of a person. Read his current interview in GQ it's online, he talks about all of it. He detests Hollywood and the Grammy's and the machine and anything superficial. Each of his albums are very different, he doesn't fulfill a quota for anyone but himself. I love his early stuff, he is just a work in progress that honors his authenticity and his alter ego(s). His creativity is nothing short of mind blowing

although starboy is good, this is the REAL weeknd. The one who connects to souls with dark and meaningful lyrics. His old songs are the ones where the lyrics just slowly sink in and you realize what meaning it has. The 'new' weeknd is good, however the old weeknd will always be the real legend.
Lena Herondale SO TRUE
you should hear from the new album tracks Die For You & Nothing Without You and after you listen to them come back and reply to hear you regret about you comment :D
You don't think starboy has surprisingly dark lyrics? I mean definetly there's a lot more upbeat synth songs on the album but the title song Starboy itself has depressing meaning behind its lyrics

It helped me through every stage of my life. I took your music with me every day for every stage for the past 11 years. There was always a word that spoke to what i felt and experienced and yearned, desired for. I always felt like your music was the reflection to the part of me i was never brave to share about. Only song I truly like by this man.
this is the first song I ever heard from Abel. It’s a masterpiece, just like trilogy.
What album would you recommend getting first trying get into his music?
honestly I went through beauty behind the madness before trilogy. Wicked Games and High for this and The Morning were some of the songs I knew , but I didn’t complete hearing trilogy until I finished beauty behind the madness. After that I heard all of starboy. But it depends on which of Abel’s styles you prefer. Trilogy is , and will always be the top for me , but you really need to dig deep into the lyrics and the beat to actually enjoy it and understand it. If you’re going to start with BBTM I suggest Dark Times , Angel , Acquainted , there are more but I’m just naming a few.

she isn't alone me only to enjoy having the weeknd back not weekday
Guilty as charged, suggest more
she isn't alone dude yessssssss I mean all of his shit is great
Trilogy vibe all day
His best song hands down 🤪
June 2016 and i still love this song... I swear he is the MICHEAL JACKSON of our time
I think Bruno Mars is the modern Michael Jackson tbh. Dancing ability, style, and voice. But this guy is obviously equally as good.
+NateMantle Bruno Mars? are you serious. lmao you made my day
Bruno Mars is really good. Just a shame that he makes such cringey songs
except he sings about crack and sex and all that "our time" stuff right?
Yep
Nostalgic. I was in a dark place as a 16 year old listening to this. I was doing drugs and lost in PTSD. The Weeknd’s music literally was there with me through the good and bad and was the only way I could heal was through his music, we connected it’s like he knew my pain. He will forever be my favorite ❤️
