1:08 You can hear his voice shake slightly when he says key words like “Never” and “Preform” its heartbreaking really and not to mention the ups and downs of his year from the tragic events of family and loss of money, to winning back to back 2018 splits to not being able to preform at MSI or Worlds. He has an incredible mentality and mental strength and even if you don’t respect him as a player. You have to at least respect him as a person. I have followed and cheered on this man since CLG and he continues to amaze me. Truely. Thank you doublelift for pushing through this year and I hope he moves forward from this.

Not any that, he briefly lost 200k (assuming he has gotten it back at this point) and he permanently lost his crypto currency. At heart I have been a long time doublelift fan a really feel something big during this interview and looking back on the year. I hope to see him preform in the future truely.

Here from them not getting out of groups again this year. At this point it isn't even his fault anymore, I hope he doesn't self-blame for this worlds, it seemed like a pretty soul-crushing defeat with a game that wasn't even thrown by him
They played like C9 played their 1st 2 games. Except C9 realized their mistakes and stopped playing scared. Every game I saw TL always plays scared as if they expect to lose before the game even starts. C9 always picks fights and doesn't back down.

Watching the game from a non-biased standpoint, I would agree that TL had A LOT of hiccups during the first week. Perhaps they weren't ready to play at a higher level than NA LCS. But seeing how they played in the second week showed how much they improved as compared to the first week. It's quite unfortunate that EDG had the right guts to pull out a win against KT. Who knows, maybe they would keep their shit together and perform better next worlds if ever.
P.S. I'd also like to blame pobelter for inting in most of their games lol

Dlift has this egoistic vibe around him. "My team", "I did everything". But after years of seeing him in the league, it shows that he's really fixing himself. I know he cares for his team and I know he's improving as a player and as a person. Dlift's fans will keep supporting him for sure.
its a good kinda of egotistic though. he is taking all the blame. its "my team" to him because they have been different teams and he is the common factor. "I never perform" he says. its the most productive mentality you can have, to assume everything is because of you, good or bad. because all you can control is yourself.

Not at all. Him saying my team doesn't imply ownership or whatever you're reading into his words. He can't say "the team that I am a part of" every single time. When someone says "my family" it doesn't mean the family belongs to them, they're just going home to visit "my family" rather than saying something absurd such as "going home to visit the family of which I am one individual component of."
daddio89 Well yeah, but I'm not only implying it with the sentences he makes. Since he went pro, he's always been known to trashtalk. His personality clashes with former teammates (CLG & TSM). At present, you can actually see the difference and appreciate his growth as a player and as an individual. :)
I used to not be a fan of his trashtalk, but after listening to an interview with him I really respect it. In short he said a lot of people only talk trash AFTER a win, which in his mind is like kicking someone who is already down. Trash talking prior is like placing a bet or wager on your skillset, being confident BEFORE the moment happens, and actually risking something. If you only trash talk after a win, you're not really risking anything at all are you? I really admire that, because yeah sometimes he loses and is forced to eat his own words. That shit takes guts though.

It's crazy that DL gets so much negative energy from the community. But the man goes to the world's as the first see every year of his career and here we are bashing the most consistent ADC out of NA (ya we're not the best region) but still I'd bet any ADC from our region would kill their newborn to have DL's accolades. Ya sure we expect him to do better at worlds each year but I guarantee no one wants it more than him. I don't know maybe I'm just completely wrong here but ya why are we as in NA hating on this man so much?

This is very interesting to watching considering how things are going for TL now this split, I know a lot is going on in the world in regards to COVID-19 and it can really throw teams off from performing to their expectation but TL’s entire split has been extremely underwhelming for a team of their caliber. Hopefully they bounce back.
As an Chinese and fan of LPL, I would like to say that doublelift is a very respectable opponent to Chinese lol community. He is a skillful player who always got positive attitude to people even though this year is kind rough to him. I hope he makes to the final next year with a better support and mid. Salute to doublelift!

I appreciate how he owns it. When he talks about always going to Worlds, always being the 1st seed, and always shitting the bed and failing to perform, he says “I,” not “We,” not “My team,” not “NA,” etc. He puts it all on his own shoulders, and while I get why people make fun of him for his repetitive failures, I respect that he at least owns them fully.

It does kinda suck that it was really close but at least it was really close. It's not like TL didn't have the skills to pull this off- they were playing way too scared week 1 and didn't show up and just take the fights that they were supposed to. If they won that game against EDG in week 1 then they wouldve definitely been in. Better luck next year I guess.. stop being so scared :/

Tho she really is a natural in this field. I love How she handles the gloomy atmosphere making it into a good interview even though it was short. She was able to somehow show the grief of what pro player goes into the price of defeat.
