- Quintessential schnook Sid Melton, looking for the license bureau so that he can marry his girl Mara Lynn, instead stumbles upon a Marine recruiting office and ends up in uniform. Lynn reacts by joining the Woman's Marine Corps. Between the two of them, they're the Howls of Montezuma and the Roars of Tripoli in this frantic service comedy.

Sid Melton ... a National Treasure
The first time I saw Sid Melton was on Green Acres and he was funny then. I never knew how truly funny this man was until I saw him in one of the YT movies that came across my YT page, I guess through some algorithm! (LOL) I hope there's more out there!

The great Sid Melton as a star rather than a second banana. I loved him in Captain Midnight when I was a child.

Sid Melton was a great actor as a side kick. Good to see him in a starring role. He was the night club owner on the Danny Thomas Show.
I remember him as the sidekick to Jet Jackson..."My name is Ichabod Mudd, that's Mudd with two d's"...That was about 1955.
Congratulations on making the USMC look too easy for all those recruits in 1951. Makes Gomer Pyle USMC look like Full Metal Jacket.
Good analogy. I always thank Marines for their service, and their sense of humor to laugh at something like this!

Basil: "May I ask what you were expecting to see out of a Torquay hotel bedroom window ? Sydney Opera House, perhaps? the Hanging Gardens of Babylon? Herds of wildebeest sweeping majestically past?..."
Mrs Richards: "Don't be silly! I expect to be able to see the sea!"
Basil: "You can see the sea, it's over there between the land and the sky."
Mrs Richards: "I'm not satisfied. But I shall stay. But I expect a reduction."
Basil: "Why?! Because Krakatoa's not erupting at the moment ?"

See how Sid and the guy who delivered a telegram got mislead into joining the Marines? And they still play them games too, the US Military recruitment division. Thats how I got tricked into joining the US Navy back in 1991.

A women Marine's uniform is the most unsexy thing in the world.
Their winter greens with sarlett piping on the cover were pretty neat.
When I was on active duty I married a WM , she looked great in her Dress Blues.
@@rickostman7890 -- I hope all is well with you both. I was in the Corps from 1964 to 68, and I can't remember seeing more than a couple WMs during my 4 years. Their boot training at Parris Island was way on the other side of the base from the 3rd Battalion. I could see them marching off in the distance. Semper Fi.

I was thinking the same thing. But the military, sometimes, allow new recruits to obtain what is (or what was known when I was in) "Stripes with Skills". If you have a special or critical skill upon enlisting you can obtain certain rank because of that skill. I'm only speaking for enlisted. Of course medical professionals and some other highly skilled positions, can come with Officers rank upon enlisting. But in this case, it probably was Hollywood!

This is before ww2 right because there not using m1 grands but Enfields and those got replaced so why are the talking about atom boms and h bombs before they were invented unless this is the Korean war but then why are they not using m1 grands im confused😅
