We decided the best way to understand its popularity is to try it out ourselves. So I made Jack dress up much to his annoyance but I think I managed to get him to have some fun.

I totally agree with you! I still remember the day my wife and I took the photo shoot, we spent all day from 9 am to 9 pm, and I was exhausted.

OMG I'm so happy you are highlighting this industry. My fiance and I are in hong kong but have our preswedding shoots schedule with a team in mainland. The reason is because they are so damn talented and creative. The style is super personalize to the individual couple to highlight the couple's personalities and relationship. You can feel and see their relationship energy or vibes through the photos.
You guys look awesome in this authentic Chinese clothing, you guys automatically look like you're from the empire. 😉👍
This is SO adorable! I kept saying, "C'mon, Jack! You can do it!" As a photographer myself (among other things I do), I know this is a huge amount of work, but we are only young once. Anyway, these are really beautiful photos and Congratulations!

I think it’s really worth while. You don’t often get a chance to get some professional photos done of yourself and to remember yourself at your best. Not something you do often but on memorable occasions I think it’s really worth it. Especially if you take more stylised casual ones they can be nice personal decor around your home 🙂

I had these done in China too where my wife is from. My reaction was exactly the same as Jacks. But yes, once we got them... it was def worth it for future memory sake.

my favorite thing to look at is Chinese wedding photography on Douyin, some of them are so crazy they go over and beyond any photographers I've seen, underwater, in caves, the photographer's assistants are practically stunt doubles to help get the perfect shot

My husband visited China for the first time last year, we did a photo shoot like this in my home city Xi'an haha! We went to the city wall and kids wanted to take photos with him lol it's too curious for them to see a white guy in glamorous Chinese royal outfit.
Aww! Xi'an is a great place to do it nearly everyone dresses up there it is so much fun!

I think it's worthy, investing money and energy to keep the precious footages of the beauty when you're young. I did this three times. Extremely exhausted each time, but feel happy each time I glare those photos.

Personally, I highly recommend that you go to Sichuan Bamboo Sea and Sichuan Bamboo Sea for vacation. There are many very typical Chinese （East） mysterious elements there.

These photos are amazing! And it must be miserable to film yourselves while both of you being taken photos by other photographers. The traditional costumes you wore are actually more like Qing dynasty and early modern Han style. I suggest maybe next time you can choose authentic traditional Hanfu style just like you experinced in Xi'an.

Uh, why are you guys saying a few decades ago? Those wedding photos that were black and white were after WWII and in the 50s which was 70 years ago. By the late 1980s, there were already pre-wedding photoshoots.

I suggest some day you make a trip to Xinjiang and show us all the beautiful places there. This time, dress in the various ethnic minority costumes who live there (eg. Uyghur, Kazakh, Tajiks, Mongolian, Russian, Hui, Tatars, etc) and also take photos of it, both you and Jack. Just not sure is such dress theme taking roots in Xinjiang.
Tremendous photographs - absolutely stunning! Worth every penny, or is it yuan? A few days effort but will last a lifetime.
