You talked about casualties in a day. Not casualties in a day for one army.
You cannot use ancient sources for Cannae and then use modern estimates for the rest. Especially when we consider the fact that modern estimates puts Roman casualties at 50’000 without counting prisoners ( many of which were freed after the battle ) at Cannae.
The Battle of Alesia had the vast majority of its military casualties during the last day when the Gauls penetrated the Roman outer fortifications, Caesar routed them, and then decimated Vercingetorix’s army who remained alone trying to penetrate the inner fortifications. Civilians died of thirst and hunger and are not counted.
Actually, Cannae was taken by Hannibal before the battle ( the supply depot there helped Hannibal to sustain his army ). The city however was abandoned, so there was no battle to take it.

As a girl, the only relatable part was the time machine. Never got the chance to meet my grandparents as they were all dead before I was born, and I when heard dad's stories about his parents I always wished I met them. Especially my grandma, from dad's stories she seemed like a really kind woman I'd love to visit as regularly as possible. Would be also cool to hear some stories from my grandfather of what he did during WWII said by him personally.
