The game is a crossover w/ a bunch of different Konami games, you can choose to play the levels in any order (though certain ones like King Kong & Moai can't be completed until you rescue certain other characters, kinda odd design). Speedruns just always play the Castlevania level first so that's what you see as your initial impression. What's funny is my old route did Castlevania first because Simon's cross is one of the better attacks vs. bosses and his long range helps a lot in the Goonies level - now it's just because it's the quickest key to get, and you don't need the cross at all with the new routing!
@@joshthefunkdoc yours was wonderful. No suicide tricks. The only defect was in Goonies stage that you didn’t jump to first level but walked on the stairs. That costed you ten seconds.
