I've never had as much fun in Warthunder then when I was flying either P-80s. They've always been surprisingly good in different ways, and were definitely what kept me playing Warthunder for the longest time.
My first jet was the B-57A because I was a bomber main at the time (Still would be a bomber main if it was profitable). B-57s were super fun to play when not worrying about absurd repair costs, boom in then vanish like a fart in the wind
Lol just get an il28 and enjoy being constantly downtiered to 7.0 where even the fastest jets can't catch you and if they dive your gunner will just fuck them from 1km
I came back to warthunder recently and you’re like an echo except I never continued to the high tier jets, I just have an affinity for the prop dogfights and nuisances that I just never found in the instant jet matches :P anyhow keep it up I’m so happy to see people actually making stuff for this game even in its seemingly pay to win stale state in my opinion, keep it up dude :D
This was the first jet I researched, but because I was grinding the 'Space Race' event I didn't realise I was researching it and just autopiloted from one plane to the next and then realised when the event ended I was researching the F-84B now (back when the US tree only had 4 lines), and just for the memes I have never and will never test fly the F--80's either of them. God I am an idiot.
My first jetfighter was the Ouragan, I used to hate it a lot and got told that it sucks but I came back to WT and it feels very nice to fly. Even won an engagement against a migh 15 bis in it lol, sadly didnt get to kill it cause I got third partied, but still made me feel good about my maneuvering skill.
in my eyes the best starter jet is the F3D. It's (relatively) fast, it'll turn better than the stat card suggests, 4 M3 20mms... two radars, two "pilots", two engines and two dinner plates for a windshield. It's a great way to learn energy, plus airspawn.
Enjoying your content. Been watching your stuff for a few weeks. I like your style of reviews and then actual gameplay. It's a good mix. I'm just getting back into WT from a 4+ year hiatus. Really rusty, trying to play on a laptop with touchpad; not the best. Haven't even attempted to fly my jets (lvl 100), just reacquainting myself with props. I may try to snag an external keyboard and mouse - have only had six matches since returning.
I remember when I first got this plane. Took me forever to adjust my playstyle for jets. I was so used to turn fighting, I rarely boom and zoomed. Now, years later, jets are still my favorite.
Well, I'm going to go back and visit this as I'm proper rubbish at the game, but this might help me learn.... especially if its a balanced game most of the time, after 6 years of 'flying - go -Boom', I'll try anything. Cool vid chap. 👌✌🤙🤘🖖👍
I never thought I'd get into jets as they move too fast for me. I barely keep up with props and most of my level 100 is from doing CAS in Air RB. Then the snail gave me the A10 and I will spade this beautiful tank killing ugly big bird until I get the four AAs. I do try once in a while to do jet combat but only to remind me how much I suck at it.
Of all the starter jets the Shooting Star and the MiG-9 have gotta be my favorites, shooting star has excellent preformance and the MiG-9 has great armament while teaching you to manage energy
Love the F-80, hated it on release. Also loved using the Mig-9 late at this tier. Was great about 1 year ago, haven’t played in a year , so I don’t know how the BR has changed. At some point as well the first gen Mig-15 was amazing to fly, no missile lobbies.
You played well with the F-80, I'm also thinking of taking it, I used the Kikka, but I didn't like it very much, it's hard to hit and it doesn't curve much, the last match you played a lot, too bad the battle wasn't won because of the plow, but it was good
My first jet is the F89b because reasons. And 30 games in I'm at a solid 1 kill to 3 deaths. And I'd say over half of those deaths were me ripping the wings off at high speed. But so far I'm loving jets!
Ah yes. Looking back at the K/D ratios of your first jet in War Thunder. I'm not sure if mine is positive, but the K/battle ratio is certainly worse than what I was able to achieve in props.
Grind the F-80C-10, it's even better! Insane turnrate (not THE best turning jet, but definately one of them!), great roll, great energy retention, great handling even at lower speeds and of course it's still the fastest jet out there. If you play your cards right this thing is an absolute beast and is capable of whacking almost everything it faces!
Fastest jet out there? What the heck are you even talking about? At 7.7BR your performance is kinda shit compared to other jets of the same BR, not to mention if you get uptiered which happens a lot. You can only pray for low level out of energy players. If you want a 7.7 jet the F-84RE is much better
As someone who got the german jets first (jabo me 262 and horten for now) this is the least of my concerns with f 84 (just unlocked it) being an absolute menace
This was my first jet too, but within my first 3 matches I managed to get an ace. Maybe it's because I flew the mustang a lot. It just felt natural to do the same thing in this as a mustang.
Because I'm Aussie I went the British tech tree first, and have flown both the meteor and the p80, the p80 can almost put turn the meteor, but has a much better energy retention and top speed. But I'm a sucker for a turn fight and I love the meteor
god if i was a few weeks earlier this plane would still be good, now its a peashooter compared to every enemy, you can outplay them over and over but your guns wont kill them and all it takes is one 30mm to end your game.
I'm still not on jets cause 6.0 i play the last corsair variant in the line of naval but the JU-288x thing exist so i hate 6.0 plus the up tier but i watch you're video on that corsair and it helped so if u got anymore hints n tips ill like to know. i like this video to good vid.
How i started off with jets was the Me 262 A-2a, I was trying to get the Rare tiger H1 skin, Got the skin, but ended up getting the jet on the 4th case, And you know what happens when someone gets at jet when their only at Rank 3 planes.
hey, since you're on the topic of first jets, I just unlocked my first jet in the matter of the MD 450B Ouragan. Have been doing pretty well with this thing, but everybody I play with keeps telling me this jet is trash tier and I should not have grinded it. Only issue I see with it is that the acceleration is pretty low, but again I odn't have much experience with jets so maybe I completely miss the point. Have you ever tested it ?
I don't really get the hate that the Ouragan gets online. It's.. fine. Just about average at everything. It's not like you have many choices anyway. The Vatours are horrible, and why bother with France if you only play the copy pastes.

Can you do a vid on the Mig 21 PFM? I have it but I pretty much get 0 points every match. I am pretty decent with props, usually getting a kill or two per match sometimes 3 and I am ok with my ouragan but this thing just has no ammo and the missiles might aswell not be there they dont seem to hit anything.

To be fair to your comment at the end, the .50 cal’s DID suck horribly at multiple points, so you might not have been completely wrong to dislike them; there was a period early on where they’d go from flamethrowers to peashooters and back every other patch

Glad to see this. The F-80A-5 is a ‘hidden gem.’ Yes, plenty of people unlock it. But few master it. I will say, however, that the F-80C-10 is absolutely *not* worth the BR increase you get with it, and I am certain you get double the up-tiers with it than you do the A-5. The C-10’s performance increase comes from water injection (engaged via WEP in-game, obviously), which was seen as sort of an early afterburning, of sorts. But the increase mild increase in thrust (of which you only have a few minutes, anyways) is not worth the BR spike, as I said. Besides, once you’re out of WEP, your thrust is essentially equivalent to the A-5. The C-10’s AN/M3 .50s are also worthless, IMO. Don’t get me wrong, I fucking *love* the .50 in-game, but the AN/M3 fires *too* fast; The amount of time you need on-target to score a kill is virtually the same as the A-5, but you burn up roughly 60% more ammo than the AN/M2s. Anyways, the A-5 is the US tree’s penultimate energy fighter, IMO, before you start to get to jets that make up for low energy states with thrust alone. While her acceleration is poor, once you get up-to-speed, it’s hard to lose it, assuming you’re not yanking and banking. If anyone is interested in a mode detailed strategy guide, please see the F-80A-5’s War Thunder Wiki page. I wrote the ‘Usage in Battles’ section (the rest of the article, particularly the opening paragraph is desperately in-need of a re-write, as well, but I digress) and if you follow that guide, as a new to intermediate player, you’ll have a positive K/D within a few flights.
Eh the increase in thrust through water injection is quite significant, but only if you use it in short burst to accelerate quickly from a low speed. In more technical terms: The water injections isn't going to raise your top speed by much, because aerodynamics. It however can increase your excess power output by quite a bit at the right speeds.
Day 10 of asking to play the yak4 at 2.0 Start by a dive directly at q base that has another base clise to it ( 2 bases beside each other) 4 bombs for each Go straight to your base killing some ai on the way with your 7.62 Some planes will come on your back going in a straigh line with minimal evading is recommended and try to hit their engines with ur turret since they have weak engines a damaged one will lead them to crash i return to the airfield with 2 bases with 4 to 5 ai kills and 1 or 2 planes after taking off i go for bases if left but if not i will focus on ground targets cuz aa is the bain of this plane so bombing airfields is not recommended Bonus:do not forget to have smoke always on to piss the enemies 🤣

They really need to make it so ground targets dont count towards tickets only the bases should.

You need to climb at around 500-600 for max climbrate in jets, thank me later. Jets generate wayyy more power at higher speed
