    Hey Danny it’s Lara! Cool vid! I already saw the performance but I liked hearing the “directors commentary” so to speak, and it’s so neat that you almost got them! I think another video topic that would be interesting is hearing how you chose that trick, how you were selected for the show, and/or if you would do anything differently next time. huge congrats on everything :)

    • @DanielRoyMagic
      @DanielRoyMagic  3 ปีที่แล้ว +100

      Hey Lara, great questions!
      - I sent multiple tricks to the show's producers and the 5 senses trick is the one they liked best.
      - That's how I was selected for the show, too -- by sending audition tapes to the producers/casting agents.
      - In hindsight, there are a few subtleties I could have thrown in the mix that might have made it a bit trickier for them to guess at the method, but mainly, I think I'd just be a bit less nervous since I at least know what the process is like and know what to expect. I'll definitely submit more tricks to the producers for future seasons, so these days I'm trying to think of something even clever-er that they might have a tough time figuring out.

    You can hear Teller speak when he plays Amy's father on "Big Bang Theory." I especially liked the episode where Howard did a magic trick then when Teller tried to duplicate it, at the end he held up his clasped with blood running out of them. It was especially funny to see a master magician so adept at sleight of hand be so inept and clumsy.

    • @otallono

    Great video! Your channel deserves to have so much more attention. I really loved hearing your directory commentary on what was going through your head without giving away any secrets. At the end I wouldn't have known you had a deer-in-the-headlights look at all if you hadn't mentioned it lol. Had to lookup the main song to Cats as I love broadway but have purposefully avoided that particular one. It's a pretty vague clue in my opinion but obviously there's a lot more going on behind the scenes than I know.

    if you spat out the rest of the card like David Blaine does with a coin that's like a cherry on top but that would be just for style points

    Okay here's a great idea for your performance I don't know the technicalities of how it would be done but this would be definitely all inspiring for the audience...
    You do whatever Prelude while they pick their card,,, and the grand finale is you throw the entire deck into the air,, all 52 cards are flinging around and you catch their card in your mouth with your teeth 👌👌
    call it incorporating all 5 senses and a mystical 6th one. 💯🙌

    Daniel! Have you met Richard Turner in person?! I remember watching him saying he knows some tricks which his mentor taught him and one day he would pass it on to the right person. I always wondered who’s gonna be that person till I saw you on P&T . Now I sincerely believe you’re the one.

      Never met him, but hope to some day! I'm very lucky to have been mentored by Jason England and Darwin Ortiz.

    Honestly it would be extremely impressive if he said "no I heard it on 18th" all playfully but then you go through and it actually is on the 18th aka a random number.

    I'm going to assume the song was "memory "...and dude if you did that with a riffle through, rather than a table spread...thats freaking impressive all by itself.

      It's crazy isn't it? I can sort of understand how he could do the smell part, he's taken a good look at a bunch of cards when explaining the different inks have different smells. And he was guessing the card on the bottom. But the taste part, I have no idea how he could work that out from one card on the front and the back and a quick riffle. Being able to "shuffle" the deck and still understand where everything is. Imagine the amount of practice required.

    lol I have been watching magic videos for a few months now. And in the past couple of days I started listening to Andrew Lloyd Webber's greatest hits again. In the end there I understood why TH-cam suggested this video!!!
