    Hi everyone! I rewrote and condensed my scripts for a page on MOTHER Forever here: motherforever.net/the-notebook-and-mother-3/. I still recommend watching these videos first, but if you want a compact summary with some newly added information, be sure to give this a look!

      I’m so glad I read them. Really interesting seeing sections where Itoi was likely influenced, and the books were phenomenal!

    Oh neat, considered picking up the novels at one point to see how they influenced Mother 3 so this video is perfect for me.

      Glad to hear it! I knew the book series had to be worth the read if they motivated a creative mind like Itoi. I wanted to find more parallels than just the twins’ names- hope you found it interesting 😁

      Hi Parakarry! I’m glad you learned something new ☺️ that’s a big part of why MOTHER 3 is one of my (if not my most) favorite games, too- there’s always something to discover about it. "The more you think about it, the greater MOTHER 3 will become.”

    I think Guigas used "becoming stronger against pain" and "exercise of his mind himself" to the point he could return to invade Earth, go back in time, get even stronger at that in Devil's Machine but to the point of him learning forbidden sides of his true powers and mind. His boss themes repratedly use one small sample of 8 Melodies of first game, like the whole purpose was to make it have completely no effect on him, so he can be strong enough to fight any Earth's defender who stays in his way no matter what they do.

    lol I am Hungarian and a Mother fan and didn't know about this. I am ashamed. But thanks to this video I'm interested in checking this out. Mother 3 is one of my favourite games and if it is based on this book then it has to be good too or it's interesting to look for similarities and differences. Too bad that the Hungarian version is not the original version of the author because she wrote her books in French. Appearantly she emigrated to Switzerland when she was 21 years old. Anyway I'm still proud that a big inspiration for Mother 3 is from my country even though the original book is in French. She died in 2011 so she was still alive when the game came out but I doubt she knew about it, I mean she was 71 years old by then. I doubt she was playing games on emulators that didn't even release outside of Japan :D That's a pity but what can you do?
    After the video I checked out the websites of some bookstores here and they do have the trilogy version, which has all 3 stories. I think I'll buy it. Thanks for this video and the suggestion :)

      Wow, thank you for the detailed response, and the information about the author- encourages me to learn more about her! I'm glad you found the three-in-one version of the book, and are considering buying/have already bought it 😊 you're very welcome, I'm glad it inspired you to do so- I love these books now!

      Yes, and it’s pretty good! Of course, a lot was cut from the book- but for a film adaptation it was worth watching 😁

    I've already read the trilogy like three times and this video is really great and show many similarities between the first book and the game. I am already hyped for the next one! ☺

      I’m glad you’re hyped for the next video, as you likely know there is a lot more to talk about in its sequels 😳 I can certainly see this book series being something I come back to every now and then- I already want to do a re-read of the trilogy 😅 it’s great you enjoyed the novels so much!

      I am so happy you enjoyed these videos, and that they helped you discover something new! I’m glad I made this series because I wouldn’t have known about the books otherwise either-leave it to Itoi to have great taste, if he’s inspired by something it’s got to be good!

    Told you I would watch the video! Also, as much messed up this book is, I find It very interesting how this is one of the many examples of human acts in such dark times (WWII).

    • @ThaneGaming
      @ThaneGaming  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes you did, and thanks for the comment- you make a great point. The book is certainly hard to read at times- the victims of a seemingly never-ending war, and the abandoned morality for those forced to adapt. Itoi drew inspiration from powerful themes!

    So Is Ness & Ninten Are Twins? Because They Both Wearing Hats, Black Hair, & Same Clothes?

    • @ThaneGaming
      @ThaneGaming  ปีที่แล้ว

      They may as well be twins, but I don't think that it's possible (one game takes place in 198X & the other 199X, Ninten's sisters are Mimmie and Minnie while Ness' sister is Tracy, the house locations are very different, etc.) I've always thought of EarthBound as a soft "reboot" of Beginnings, as the only aspect that feels like a sequel in story is Giygas' transformation (but even that's not addressed well, lol). It's not the most helpful answer, but they're two different characters who just happen to look very similar, and how they relate is up to your interpretation 😅

    As much as I love this game and the book series, they both support two really stupid ideas, with Mother 3 having a strong anti capitalist theme (maybe communist even), which is dumb, and the note book trilogy supporting nihilism which should only be believed by Rick and Morty fans

    • @wejw14
      @wejw14 2 ปีที่แล้ว +9

      Criticizing capitalism is fine and good. If I can't criticize something then it has no right to exist. And the notebook trilogy isn't nihilistic
