What is War on the Sea?
1942: The world is at war
The Japanese Empire expands throughout the Pacific where Allied forces attempt to halt its spread. A desperate struggle for control of the Solomon Islands is now underway.
How will you protect your transports as they deliver troops and supplies in the South Pacific? Will you deploy precious aircraft carriers to provide air cover? Do you screen the area with submarines? Or attempt to lure the enemy navy into a decisive surface engagement?
That Zero at the end just wanted to keep Wolfpack's pilots 100% casualty rate. What a hero.
Lmao
Lol
We should all light a candle in honor of that Zero pilot who flew into the ground at the end.
yes. and put them on the mountain top so that the next pilot might actually see the land...
@@PrivatePAuLa29a The AI pilots do seem pretty dumb, always flying right back over the enemy ships after their attack runs, and flying into stationary mountains in daylight.
@@Nightcrawlerfive Was it daylight or is that the games version of night time? But yeah the A.I pilots be dumb.
They said Guadalcanal was an unsinkable aircraft carrier.
He ventured to prove them wrong.
He proved them right.
TERRAIN TERRAIN PULL UP
Pilot flies into mountain...."Well, that's ok I guess".
*We just witness Takeo committing suicide by Guadalcanal*
Wolfpack: That's a fantastic place to end the episode
Suicide by hill
Pilot on wolfie's command = certain death
Hello everybody, Wolfpack here. I'm going to need another 12 pilots for this next sortie, so be sure to leave a comment if you're interested in volunteering.
And that's pretty much how Japan lost the war. :)
The Emperor's expendables
Well, getting shot down by fighters wasn't the main cause of aircraft losses during WW2. Contrary to popular belief the main cause of being shot down was ground and ship based anti-aircraft fire. While the heavy AA-Artillery(usually 88-90 mm and bigger) and light AA guns(20mm and smaller) often caused damage that made them easier to hit or forced to break off their attack, the real killer were the "medium" Anti-Aircraft guns(think Bofors 40mm/L60 or /L70, or 3,7-cm-FlaK 43). Together, all types of Anti-Aircraft fire caused at least 50% of all aircraft losses during WW2. Notice, I said "Aircraft losses", not "Aircrew losses". The crews survived those quite a bit more often, at least compared to an attack by a fighter, firing from really close range(400 meter and often much less)ranging from rifle caliber rounds to explosive potatos laced in white phosphorous. >_>
The highest aircraft loses were almost always incurred by those aircraft which were doing the low level ground attack missions.
There's a very good reason why fighter pilots hated having to do ground support, even in air forces where the whole doctrine revolved around supporting the army, like the Soviet Air Force.
Flying low, under 3000 meters and progressively getting worse the lower you went, and slow(read: under 400 kph/ca. 250 mph) while being near(or heaven-forbid, above!) lots of automatic Anti-Aircraft cannons is not the best idea, especially not for planes that don't have any protection against fire from below. Like the typical fighter, say a Bf 109 or P-51... or an A6M Zero. Incidentally, that 400 kph/ 250 mph figure is also the speed that US pilots were told to not drop below when fighting against most japanese fighters like the Zero or the even more nimble Oscar(Nakajima Ki-43).
If you do cut out float plane encounters, could we maybe get a compilation of all of them crashing at the end of the episode?
Yes. This is a great idea.
Pls do this LOL
That would require a counter ...
Bomber: Give individual attacks to every plane. (Just select all and then click attack). Otherwise, planes will stay in formation and drop when the lead plane drops. (witout aiming really) That's ok for big ships but for a sub you want every plane to aim indipendently.
rockets work better for subs
@@Sully1911 How do they work? In custom (and the single rocket attack I did in campaign) they all overshot
@@awhahoo I did mine in campaign but that was when the game was released haven’t tried it with the new updates so not sure if the updates have effected it
@@Sully1911 For the tests Ive done in campaign it just seems random. Out of 4 (maybe) tests on a DD only 1 hit almost all, and on a different test a few hit. Does do quite a bit of damage tho
@@awhahoo i use to use 12 then got it down to 3
I'll be honest, I enjoy the floatplane being shot down lol
Yes me too. Hope he don’t cut this out Lmao
Keep the float plane engagements in!
Just planes in general going down is amazing
I just like the look of float planes being massacred by multiple fighters
Agree
God this game is so good looking. Imagine a full Pacific, Mediterranean, or Atlantic campaign.
Oooo, I would love the Royal Navy Vs. Italy around the Eastern Mediterranean
@@bigbully1277 It is possible that that may come in the future. The first video in this series showed that Killerfish has already laid the groundwork in the game for Atlantic and Mediterrean campaigns. So, after they finish all the Pacific stuff, they may model those areas after that.
@@Schnittertm1 so a possible remake of the battle of the atlantic?
Atlantic is hinted in the game actually. if you look under "Single Battle", you can swap between different regions, and Atlantic is one of them... so we may see German and British ships
i also really hope that they do a full campaign or something like that.
9:27 that must be the best piraa... uhm AA gunner I have ever seen.
MHV i am honored to be in this comment section with you
oy look its a Bernhard .....
No doubt there were some squirrels who needed to die. Very honorabu sacrifice at the end.
Dear lord, I never expected this person in the chat. Why is he delving into the world with us mortals?
I dont get this comment for some reason
Wolfpack: "Pull up!"
Pilot: "No, I don't think i will"
Kongō confirmed for Wolfpack's favorite ship girl.
Kongō Desu~
Is he cheating on his submarine wife?
@@fun_police8011 On that topic, Wolfpack should show us his Azur Lane dockyard
Ahem, I believe she is _actually_ called Kongoudess.
@@austinduong-van6071 it’s just going to be 50 kongos, one Belfast, and a bunch of submarines.
I love the moral support Jake that was always in the background of those anti-sub attacks.
This episode just proves the statement once made in Battlestations: Pacific: "The future of warfare at sea belongs to aircraft."
What a great game, I’d wish there was a similar game to that. War on the sea is a tad too complicated for me :(
@@kamikazekalamari
Yep, I also feel like it's quite complicated...
@@kamikazekalamari its not, really... have patience and play the tutorial, its quite long but it was worth it
@@graustreifbrombeerkralle1078 it's rather easy. just a lot of unnecessary micromanaging.
Haha that game that doesn’t work on steam and there is no Support
Kuma was carrying troops?
That's an 175 extra pairs of brown trousers on deck last episode, when she effectively had her nose blown clean off by a 21-inch torp.
Get scrubbin' boys, the Emperor demands clean underwear.
Maybe the Yankees are doing their own Washington Express.
“The fighting seems to be evenly matched?!” Your naval kill ratio is like 13:1!
I meant for the troops :P
So one trick I learned is to select a whole flight of planes, then assign the target and give the attack order with the whole flight selected. They will each make their own individual runs and will be WAY more accurate as a result. I've sank so many heavy cruisers with one flight of 4 using this method.
Having that second level airfield is extremely key. Curious where that carrier fleet is though. Seeing those Wildcats come into the battle was a oh shit moment.
Having four Vals on Guadacanal has big impact. They are great and never ending replenishment of aircraft. Prefer using them to the carrier dive bombers as long time to replenish carriers.
@@Keith_003 Too bad you can't redeploy Kates (torpedo bombers) on the ground airfield so you could use them instead of Bettys, but I think that was a developer's choice to NOT give the player (and AI) too much advantage in that field.
But imagine a level 3 port, thats replenishing 12 of every planetype ,way more impact than a flight of 4 with just 1 carrier.
18:53 Dude flew back around like a BOSS and they still couldn't shoot him down LOL!
Great episode today. It feels like a tv series on netflix where you cant stop watching
26:20 pilot just really prefer to die instantly rather than receiving another AA gun terror again.
The beginning sums up my experience with ASW. Those slippery bastards are hard to hit. Also that pilot at the end chose the easy way out. "I'll never be ordered to strafe a merchant again!" were his last words.
*Zero rams a mountain* "Well, that's a fantastic place to end an episode, I believe." I lol'd.
Nice cuts, they make this game really enjoyable
you should direct the dive bombers to attack head on, so the entire deck could be strafed by bombs rather than a portion of the ship
Beat me to that suggestion! Looking at the splash pattern, an approach in line with the ship seems like it'll really be devastating.
I always dive bomb in line. Think it works better for strikes.
Same for gun runs
Forgetting the troops on board. Like being halfway to work and discovering you forgot to drop the kids off at daycare. :)
loved the bombing runs, I cant wait to see the Kongo do its job lol.
I'm loving those videos! The bombing runs with the Vals were exciting, wish you'd invest more on your aircraft capability. Keep the videos coming :D
I just realized they use the same AA sound as in Atlantic Fleet from five years ago.
they use a lot of sounds from the Atlantic Fleet game, they basically upgraded their entire game except the SFX file XD
@@paulborisiv519 SFX and some UI assets are indeed from Atlantic Fleet and from Cold waters (the bleep sound when enemy units get detected for example).
And i think quite a few of the 3D objects got reused and/or modified from AF, too.
Honestly, floatplane being shot down is super satisfying. Please leave it in every time!
Really enjoying the series! I have seen if you strafe with the Zeros in line ahead approaching from astern and at minimum height slowing down to minimum speed at about 1500 yards and only opening fire at 1000 feet should give very good results - as soon as the attack is over speed up again and circle around.
This is my favorite play through of this on the internet... period.. You honor the emperor!!!
Gonna buy this love WWii history. The game sounds complicated and difficult which I like. I was in the Army 10 years and became 100 % service connected disabled from my injuries in Iraq.
watched the last ep throughout the day. Refreshed the page and am so glad to see a fresh upload so I can continue watching 😁
Wolf I must say. I’ve been following you for some time now. And you’re absolut blast to watch!
Herr Kaleun! Thank you for posting these videos right after each other. Great series! Additional to the game being great, your playing style and narration is amazing. Please keep it up!
Victory will be ours! Banzai!
See, things like this are why the dev's need to do something about land based aircraft. Everytime one gets shot down, it is replaced instantly. It should take at least 24 hours to replace a plane.
Agree - my four Vals on Guadacanal have immense impact as they are inexhaustible.
Great series. Didn't know if I'd like that game at first, but it looks pretty fun. Also still enjoy your sub games and even the Russian aircraft.
4:23 This is where you are wrong wolf, watching floatplane getting shot down IS exciting lol
Man... The AI planes of this game needs some updating. Re-flying into AA fire after completing a run is just foolish
Yeah...WTH?

I love your War on sea series keep it up wolf
Keep everything in, i love watching 40+ minutes videos from you.
Very good. When attacking the convoys, I learnt to prioritise the merchants , as they need to be stopped so they don’t land troops and supplies. Don’t worry about the escorts. The other thing on first battle on a convoy, is damage the lead merchant, but don’t sink it. Then in subsequent battles, that lead merchant is slower due to previous damage, and holds all the other merchants up - while the escorts steam on well ahead. Makes mopping up the merchants easier.
Really enjoying this series. Been thinking of getting the game myself, and while I'm much more into the fast-paced scenarios of games like Battlestations, it's fun to watch you play this. Great narration and commentary.
Two in a day?
I will love to see two episodes of yuri in one day lol
Just watched your last war on the sea video. Love this series 👍
I think Wolfpack has a new favorite game. These are fun to watch.
*Convoy on full alert shoots all AA gun into the air, making the area above them extremely perilous*
Japanese pilot : "- I think that's a perfectly safe area to fly into and make my escape !"
That Zero at the end already fight with courage and honour.
Excellent video with great editing! Thank you for this series.
Enjoying this new series. As always thanks for your outstanding work.
glad to see these videos come out more consistently, love the campaign and hope to see more!
I've been having great success with dive bombing from about 4k altitude with Val's. Great work on the air battle
So many heroic actions. Each time, I can't wait for the next engagement.
Finally, I’ve been waiting, thank you so much!!!
I absolutely love the daily videos with this series.
Enjoying this series a lot. For my two penneth, id be more than happy to have longer episodes with all the action in than smaller ones that are more heavily edited.
This is my new favorite series!! Great follow up to SH3!!
Keep them coming! Love this! Better drop a like! I can't wait to see the battleship in action. Also looking forward to see the carrier group. Hopefully we will get a sub, Surface ship and planes to attack it. That would be epic! Keep up the good work wolf! One of my favorite videos to watch thus far. Look forward everyday for new content.
Oh boy I sure hope we capture Guadalcanal to land American troo- wait, what’s that buzzing noise?
Well played Wolfpack, this game looks interesting.
lol That Zero pilot.
Haha I am subbing after that commentary at the end about the Zero. LOL!!! Although Wolfpack deserves the sub anyway, these videos are awesome and funny.
your videos are the ones i look forward to the most. Keep it up!
Cant tell you how many zero's i have killed by strafing us ships. Great game, great vids!
When I go sub hunting, I load out my aeroplanes with depth charges. Seems to work better than bombs even when the sub is on the surface.
Thank you for this series. Greetings from Poland
I like Wolfpack’s content ! Somehow he motivates me to play too ! Started a new sh 3 campaign after his gameplay, now I think about purchasing this game :D
I’m so glad to see more of this series so quick!
You're doing so much better than I am at this game!
I just had a massive (and very BS) loss I engaged one of those 2 CA, 2 CL and 2 DD taskforces intending to use my Heavy cruisers and Destroyers to lob long-range torps and then run away to hammer them with airpower as I was running low on ammo, but the game decided to spawn them inside of my own formation and it was just a frenzy of torpedos and ramming I only had a single destroyer by the end of it... down from three Heavy cruisers and two Fubuki's to a single Fubuki in less than two minutes.
Goddangit, as soon as i go out of bed after watching last episode you upload a new video
watched all of these videos for this play through! i am really in to RTS games and this is great, and like how you do it you’re way, and have good navy knowledge ☺️ good job! i even wouldn’t mind an American play through as well to see the different ships 👀🤙🏻
Cool looking came and I love the content and playthrough. Wolf is just too good for this AI, even at the toughest level.
Waiting you to upload this video again. Great work man
i'm glad for start cuting gameplay. GJ with this series
That last Val/zero just couldn't take it anymore.
That pilot just saw some Americans at land and decided to become a Kamikaze. HERO.
Love the content honestly I'm addicted I can't decide what to watch so I have been watching it all
Triple Upload!!! loving this playthrough keep it up!!
I wish you had longer episodes of this series its amazing :)
you know what wolfpack i simply cannot wait for the next instalment this is proper edge of the seat action take care:)
when you order your zero squads to attack, you should manually make certain they are at minimum speed and on the deck already.
this way you maximise their time on target even if you might lose a few more planes in the process(airbase planes are free units afterall)
Wolfpack345. It is official, I am addicted, hook, line and sinker!
God I love this series ahah. Awesome gameplay!
These uploads are becoming addictive......good show wolfie.
Thank you for finally unloading the troops
Wolfpack I suggest you putting your Vals in a line ahead formation, it makes their attacks absolutely devasting as they follow each other on their dives.
Also the reason why the planes break off over the fleet after their strafing run is because the planes return to the previous waypoint aka the place were you first ordered them to attack.
My body cannot take more.. but i need it
Speech 100
I think I read on the forums that dive bombing needs at least 2300 feet of altitude. If you're using meters, then 701 meters might do the trick. I see your Val's started at 900 meters, and they just now started diving. Great!
Didnt know the game. Didnt know the channel. But I watched this series and startet uboat series right after. I like your content and just subscribed. Good work dude.
PLEASE MAKE MOREEEEE I LOVEE IT WAY TOOO MUCH
Absolutely loving this series
I love this series!
That solid bombing !! i cann feel it AHAHAH
The planes insistence on turning back into enemy fire after their runs is aggravating.
26:20 lmao I wonder what happened to that plane XD
great video. i am thinking of getting this game when i get a gaming laptop. looks fun
Goddamn the IJN is going through pilots like candy.
For the cost of 2 Heavy Cruisers. I'll take it.
Oh! Buddy, you're about to crash into some land. Get up! Pull up! ... Okay... Um... That's... That's fine, I guess.
*LOL*
Loving this series. Keep it up!
