      same! I would stay outside in the woods all day and evening. I never saw anything of "high strangeness" but it's definitely a beautiful place with a lot of history and great people. those woods raised me well lol

    I grew up near Northfield, MA. My grandma always told me that "Satans Kingdom" was named that because in the winters (at the time before there was a bridge over the Connecticut River) "Satans Kingdom" inhabitants could not make their way into town to attend church. The Church at the time said those families were blasphemous for not attending Sunday mass. There was always a secondary story that the smoke from the cabins could be seen from across the (CT) river which Main St. Northfielders thought to be Satan-worshiping fires. The people were likely just trying to stay warm and couldn't get to church because the river was frozen.

    I was born in Massachusetts, lived here most of my life. I live only 15 miles away from the Massachusetts "Satans Kingdom" and never even heard of it until now. Great video on the history of "Satans Kingdom" and "Satan's Kingdom" 's, now I also know there are more than one and the most likely reasons the areas were named as such. Great job on the research and high production quality of this video! Thank you.

    Outside of the indigenous peoples, Quakers had it the worst in the New World! All because THEY DANCED! (It's more complicated then that, but saying it that way conjures the idea of a ye ol Footloose in rural Massachusetts!) Also still feel hype about throwing you money to watch this channel grow! Can't wait for the next one!

    • @Pseudiom
      @Pseudiom  3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Maybe I will talk about Quakers at some point! I did have a print of Quakers being whipped I found for this video, but I never used it in the video. I just finished "Albion's Seed" by David Hackett Fisher which had a very interesting section on Quakers. They were apparently weirdly into mysticism. I also have a few Pennsylvania related topics I want to cover in the future so maybe they'll turn up there!

    Your mention of 'The Crucible' reminds me of Diana West's 'American Betrayal'.
    It also reminds me of a group high school book report I had to do that blessedly got cancelled. Still feel bad about what happened to that teacher.
    Interesting video! I didn't know about any satans kingdoms (that's what I get for living on the opposite end of the country); honestly thought the video was going to be on the Jersey Devil and its ilk or some such. Glad to see I was completely wrong and it was on something even more esoteric!

    • @Captain1nsaneo
      @Captain1nsaneo 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Pseudiom It was a fairly elite public school so no physical abuse but from what I pieced together afterwards she was new and our high school had a standing group of classes made up of just the trouble makers that would get rotated around between teachers. She got it that year somehow.
      I was in her only Junior class which she told us was her best class. It shocked me as out of a class of ~30 guys I only had respect for 3 or 4. So I didn't believe her until one of the Sophomores in another class hocked a lugie into her morning bowl of cereal. She left after one year.
      Thanks for the recommendation, I'll look it up.

    It's weird how all of this got flipped in the oppsite direction, like how e idolize the woods for their mystique and the puritans themselves became the horror. Hel,, the description of the native americans being one with the forrest and fighting like wolves sounds badass as hell and I hope noone accuses me of cultural apropriation for envying that.

    • @Pseudiom
      @Pseudiom  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Nah, you're fine. Its an interesting historical quirk. As I said, a large amount of American horror was derived from both sides of the New England colonization. Both the fear of "society" (in certain terms) and what rests beyond it.

    Very nice Digging. I did not know there where 3! I should have though, but the puzzle keeps getting bigger the more years that go by. Every time I think that thats all to it, some other clue shows up.
    Should I tell? I think its bigger than anything I could imagine and I did not know of the Captain Kidd story. But it is just like this strange puzzle I have stumbled across to slowly reveal itself bit by bit. All i can say at this time is, it seems to have a very ancient feel to it. Very Masonic!

    Sailing/rowing that far up the Connecticut River to bury treasure isn't impossible, but unlikely. It gets pretty narrow at critical points, and you'd have to pass through two large colonial settlements, as well as be exposed to whatever remained of the Nipmuc tribe. Whereas even to this day, there's plenty of completely uninhabited land at the southern end of the river, nearer the ocean. The Vermont border is no place for a sea captain.

    Crypto Jewish not really Christian as they followed Old Testament law and doctrine.
    Again, not Christians but not unlike many so called “Christians” of today who don’t know the gospel neither have any clue what Gods will is these days.
    I wonder who or how they were ever labeled as Christian in the first place.
    Please correct me if I’m wrong but none of the beliefs we hear about are really Christian but are more false teaching than ever
