    Congrats on being gifted that fine mount. I will be getting mine around Nov. Which is fine since I dont like imaging in this high Vegas heat. I look forward to seeing more videos of your 10Micron experience.

    NINA has a great polar alignment plugin and you can even use your object for the night as part of the 3 star polar alignment.

    I’m looking forward to watching Dalia’s solo videos! Also, bad polar alignment cannot cause spikes in DEC, it was probably just seeing…

    • @GalacticHunter
      @GalacticHunter  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you, that might have been it then! With this mount I should probably do 5-6 sec on PHD2 instead of 2-3s

    • @jlecomte0719
      @jlecomte0719 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@GalacticHunter If the PE is smooth enough, yes you could use a longer exposure. The only way to know that for sure is to run PHD2 without guiding to get an idea of the maximum drift rate in RA. Also, you'll need to have a polar alignment that is spot on. Clear skies!

    It's nice to see some of the "not-as-popular" targets featured. Nearly everyone has a "Check out my North America Nebula!"... I had to look this one up because I'd never seen or heard of it. Of course, since this is my first year with the mono camera and narrowband filters... well, I'm the guy shooting the North America and Eagle and all the popular targets 😂. Safe travels to France, Antoine, and looking forward the the Dalia solo videos!

    Wow. I have an AZEQ5 - 10% of the cost - and I usually get ~0.6 guiding… maybe my setup is better than I thought!
    Great video as always guys!

    • @thelovin71
      @thelovin71 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I’ve seen guys get the EQ6 down to sub 0.4” RMS. 0.6” isn’t great out of the box for this mount (no PE and backlash because of the absolute encoders). I’m looking to get this mount so I’m really happy you guys have one. Looking forward to seeing how guiding improves over time. MountWizard4 especially.

    Even with what you describe as less-than-optimal alignment, and with a 130 payload on the mount, your total RMS was at one point 0.16? 0.16?? 0.16??? Im both sincerely happy for you and overwhelmed by shameless jealousy! Anyway, congrats!

  • @tomwall8403
    @tomwall8403 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    I live in Tucson and my ASI533 can't reach -5 in the Summer. During the monsoons, I reshot my darks library at 0*. Did you notice any difference? I haven't had a chance to check yet.

  • @astrojw1039
    @astrojw1039 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    I would think with that mount, unless its the 2000 that can do it. You can do unguided imagery. I have seen on forums some can do 30 minute unguided subs, be curious if you can do that with that 1000, again unless its the 2000 on up that is capable of that.

  • @joeniemeyer8874

    You motivated me to image NGC 6820 and it turned out great. But this nebula needs a name! I see a head facing left that looks like Shrek. What do you think about naming it the Shrek Nebula? I think I'll try posting my image on AstroBin and see if the name gets any feedback.

    Nice video!
    2 questions:
    - Do you think shooting flats using a large screen tv would work?
    - The spots on your pictures look just like mine. Have you had any luck cleaning them out of the optical train? If so, how did you do that?

  • @JoseLausuch
    @JoseLausuch 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    Do you take darks and flats for each of the 3 filters or without any of them?

    • @GalacticHunter
      @GalacticHunter  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      For flats, each filter. For darks, doesn't matter at all

    Just a few notes... it seems that you didn't use the balance routine... nor the modeling... and I'm surprised that you had to use a guide scope...

    What's the point of buying a 10.000 Euro mount if you still need guiding .... 10micron is supposed to work up to 20 minutes without guiding ...

  • @anata5127
    @anata5127 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    “Guiding was good at 0.6”. Seriously? I get it with AVX.
    What about modeling sky with 100+ points and making 30 min unguided shots?

  • @ahelms
    @ahelms 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    I also have a GM1000 and you really don't need to guide, it is completely unnecessary with a mount that has encoders and can do sky models. I've imaged up to 5 min subs with a CDK12.5 completely unguided. That scope has 2541mm of focal length and I get perfect stars. You should really look into building a model and dumping that woefully inadequate guider!

    • @GalacticHunter
      @GalacticHunter  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I definitely need to learn to make models, but I just don't want to have to redo the models every time I setup. I have no issue with guiding for now but yes I should make models and never look back I guess 😅 Which modeling program is your favorite?

    Bro what are you doing with that Chinese piece of dirt use the software you got do 25 points is well enough is like All-Star alignment from Celestron your tracking will be way better and polar alignment join the Facebook group I got my GM2000 in March 2020
