The Terminator and T2 work so well because they are in the same universe, on the same timeline. T1 is a 1984 movie set in 1984; T2 is a 1991 movie set in 1995. Judgement Day is still in the future, and it must happen otherwise there wouldn't be Terminators to travel back in time. All the other movies in the franchise (except for Redemption) are on an alternate branching timelines. The alternate timelines break the rules of the in-movie universe which in turn eliminates the stakes. Dark Fate is the worst - it actually makes T1 and T2 pointless, and establishes the neverending cycle.
hardly. you can't even tell which brand it is. in the first one? Gargoyles. that movie plus Dale Earnhardt made those popular. Tom Cruise wearing Raybans in Risky Business? put Raybans on the map. but these just look like any gas station set w/o knowing what they are.
Love all the scan analyses, too fast to read in real time, but highly detailed and amusing to read when examined closely. Indicative of the attention to detail Cameron gave to this film.
When the guy blows the smoke in Arnie's face: carcinogen vapor, and on the side particulate no damage. Nobody in the theater could have read it; only later when you could stop and rewind did you even get a chance to discover these nuggets.
Also notice it arrives at a defence mode, and an inhibit setting of 0. One can surmise that this T8 hundred came with an inhibit mode, probably generally set higher for our situations, since it was out to help Conner and wasn’t in killer mode. but in this particular threat inhibit setting went to zero.
Enter the world naked. Next, loot outfits and weapons from the enemy. Then, getting access to transportation and acquiring a primary weapon. Finally, ride through the world, fully equipped and leveled. That's exactly what I do every time I'm playing video games.

Yup, very true. The theater also went nuts during the motorcycle chase scene in the canal. When Arnold reloaded the shotgun with one hand, the crowd loved it.
There was a literal stampede from the waiting area into the theater when they finally opened the doors for this movie. This was when there were no assigned seats. I was almost suffocated against a door. Will never forget. Was totally worth it.
I saw this part at a families friends house when I was about 9yrs old. I was in awe, and then my mom came into the room and said we were ready to go home as it was getting late. Amazing experience, didn't even know what this was until years later and saw the movie. Still one of my favorite movies to this day.

North Korea's supreme leader also watched the movie. Kim Jong-il, the former film expert of Kim Il-sung's son, said he could never beat the U.S. after watching Terminator 2. In fact, after the release of the film, the Soviet Union was defeated. I think it was a historical film where the Soviet Union and Japan gave in to the fact that the United States was the world's strongest. Both Soviet officials and Japanese artists surrender. Thanks for your post. I'm not sure how he's regarded now, but some of former Korean President Syngman Rhee's family settled in Indianapolis and were neighbors of mine as a child. I often bring up Korea as a possibility for Ukraine when people say Ukraine's position is hopeless. Its a huge country so even half of it is enough to start over.

A few years ago, I showed this movie to my then 15-year-old son for the first time. I had showed him Terminator 1 before and he loved that. I also told him 'the second one is even better, a true action classic' and informed him that 'in the nineties, all the boys your age wanted to see this movie and they _all_ did... multiple times'. I also said the opening scene alone was brilliant. Well, five minutes later jr was convinced his dad had it right.
*Thumbs-down.* That is not the way to approach it with your child or anyone else. You put pressure on your child to agree with you by essentially expecting him to agree with you. You are not to say how "brilliant" you thought the opening scene was before your son saw it. Your son should have watched it first. *Then,* ask him how good the opening scene was and what you thought. Give your son a chance to disagree with you instead of feeding your ego.

Watched this movie three times opening week. Such a great film. Arnold had a period there between 84-93 where he was the box office king. Every summer he’d come out with a blockbuster. I believe the year before this release was Total Recall. Arnold made movie going such a fun experience.

I knew I saw a moment in history when I watched this for the first time in the theater. Amazing film. Holds replay value. Just a great action film with great characters and a great plot. Everything about this movie was GREAT.

The lady pulling away her boyfriend was the smartest one in the place. Someone who doesn't even flinch at being burned with a cigar, slammed in the back of the head with a pool cue, stabbed in the chest, then breaks they guy's wrist who did the stabbing and pins him to the pool table through the shoulder with same knife ought to tell anyone with a modicum of neural tissue to GTFO....🤣🤣
A few things I've only noticed as an adult: 0:59 Those tires are still somehow partially inflated on that trailer, despite an entire section of the tire missing lol 3:00 The guy's left elbow is keeping that "block" pressed down, but as soon as he lifts up, the "steam" comes out and you can actually see the nozzles releasing the "steam", which is almost surely just fog juice lol I'm sure there's others, but these are just for fun. This is without question one of the greatest character introductions ever from one of, if not the greatest action films ever produced.

The one thing I wish James Cameron did to keep the suspense going is not play bad to the bone when he came out of the bar. Would've kept people on the edge right until the moment when he met the T1000 in the hallway.
nah everyone already knew arnie played the good guy in it. It was well known and even in the trailers. The shot of the boots with bad to the bone is the best scene in the whole film imo. Sets the tone perfectly

It’s extremely rare for a sequel to be better than the first film. This was it! I saw this in the theater with friends in 1991 and it was awesome!
I was watching in 91. I went and seen T2 6 times in the theater when it came out. Now I'm 44 and it is still my favorite movie.

There were plenty of suck movies back then too. And there are plenty of good movies being made now. I’m not saying this for the sake of being contrarian but because I want us all to have fair and realistic views.

The lady pulling away her boyfriend was the smartest one in the place. Someone who doesn't even flinch at being burned with a cigar, slammed in the back of the head with a pool cue, stabbed in the chest, then breaks they guy's wrist who did the stabbing and pins him to the pool table through the shoulder with same knife ought to tell anyone with a modicum of neural tissue to GTFO....🤣🤣

A few things I've only noticed as an adult:
0:59 Those tires are still somehow partially inflated on that trailer, despite an entire section of the tire missing lol
3:00 The guy's left elbow is keeping that "block" pressed down, but as soon as he lifts up, the "steam" comes out and you can actually see the nozzles releasing the "steam", which is almost surely just fog juice lol
I'm sure there's others, but these are just for fun. This is without question one of the greatest character introductions ever from one of, if not the greatest action films ever produced.

The one thing I wish James Cameron did to keep the suspense going is not play bad to the bone when he came out of the bar. Would've kept people on the edge right until the moment when he met the T1000 in the hallway.

nah everyone already knew arnie played the good guy in it. It was well known and even in the trailers. The shot of the boots with bad to the bone is the best scene in the whole film imo. Sets the tone perfectly
